New thread!

Chicken ads for anyone who missed them.

Anyway have fun everyone, I'm off to sit in the park now that it's allowed.

Jourdain Flowers

just OMD that is such a farce. No oxygen? That should be in the national news.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/05/2020 20:01

Eating and drinking too much here too. All holidays/weddings/festivals that I was going to this summer are cancelled so I'm not worrying about the extra weight right now! Grin

Jourdain11 · 13/05/2020 20:01

Thank you BlushSmile I'm just feeling self-pitying and moany. I've been sick all day from the chemo and that doesn't have a very good effect on the mood! I couldn't even read or watch stuff. It's like being travel sick!

So yeah, sorry, I'm being a bit of a Miss Misery "poor-little-me" this evening.

I feel like maybe I'm a callous and cold hearted parent because I'm not worrying about my children going back to school? I'm more worried about them NOT going back to school!

Earlier though, one of the nurses was playing "Things can only get better" and dancing up and down to take everyone their meds. Made me smile! Smile

rosettesforjill · 13/05/2020 20:01

Thought I'd share this paragraph in our letter from the trust. (Don't think it's outing!)

Not all schools are doom mongering...

Jourdain11 If you can't complain when you're suffering through chemo, when can you? Complain away. You have every right to feel sorry for yourself. I hope that you can get some relief soon though.

Jourdain11 · 13/05/2020 20:05

@MarcelineMissouri my DH teaches for an academy trust and they've had a plan in place for a fortnight, at least. I think they had intel! It does seem like the academies are more on it than other schools. I think they also have the flexibility of being able to shuffle teachers around from school to school. DH is going to be class sharing with a Y6 teacher from another school in his trust...

Bollss · 13/05/2020 20:06

Someone on another thread has just likened sending kids back to school to social distance to crate training dogs.

Why are people so disgusting.

Jourdain11 · 13/05/2020 20:06

@DesmondTheMoonbear I guess! Although it seems a little self-centered to be stressing about losing hair "in these unprecedented times"...

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 13/05/2020 20:07

Found you! I can't keep up with the new threads.

This is a Good Thing as it shows how many anti dementors there are.

bookworm14 · 13/05/2020 20:08

The latest thing on the school threads is that if you want your children to go back you must be a government plant. 🙄

MinnieMountain · 13/05/2020 20:09

@Jourdain11 don't feel bad. This shitstorm will pass. I felt guilty when I had radiotherapy. Wanting to go a bit Disney Mum is natural and instead you've got another bad thing to protect your DCs from.

Honestly, I'm sure they're just happy that they've got you.

MarcelineMissouri · 13/05/2020 20:09

That’s good to read @rosettesforgill
I think our school is fairly positive too.

To be fair to non academy schools, I work for a MAT and they will have benefited hugely from having a central team dealing with HR, health and safety etc and being able to pull staff from their other schools if required

DesmondTheMoonbear · 13/05/2020 20:11

@DesmondTheMoonbear I guess! Although it seems a little self-centered to be stressing about losing hair "in these unprecedented times"...

Not self centred at all. You're going through something major(to say the least). Covid 19 is not the only thing that matters. Besides I just had a little sulk because I ran out of mini gingerbread men, so you can certainly complain.

MarcelineMissouri · 13/05/2020 20:12

Oh and as I mentioned in my other post I work in the school just very part time but would be more than happy to go in for more hours if they need people for anything. I’ve enjoyed looking after key worker kids as well!
I’m also happy to send my kids back. I have one in reception and 1 in yr3. The only thing that would make me keep them home ironically is if they try and force the kids to stay away from each other, but there’s no sign of that in the reopening plan, just reduced numbers of kids together.

GoldenOmber · 13/05/2020 20:12

Oh yeah bookworm14 I’ve seen that before on a thread about children struggling. Yes clearly the only reason someone might talk about their children having a tough time with this on a parenting site is because Dominic Cummings is paying us to say it Hmm

GroEggAndHam · 13/05/2020 20:12

Thanks for Jourdain, who can moan and complain as much as she fucking well wants, but I hope some solidarity hopes you feel a little better anyway.
Your nurse sounds lovely - the ones who are willing to make a dick of themselves to make a patient smile are always good eggs.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/05/2020 20:13

@bookworm14 Grin well I've been here years so they're welcome to search. Not sure why it's so difficult to understand that some of us might have different opinions.

Jourdain11 · 13/05/2020 20:14

@DesmondTheMoonbear haha, that reminds me of DD2 having an epic meltdown in week 1 because we'd run out of chocolate ice cream and I refused to take her to the shops to buy another tub. "I DON'T CAAAAAAARE IF I CATCH CORONAVIRUS! I'll probably STAAAAAARVE because you're MEEEEEEEAAAAN!"

(She has dramatic tendencies!)

Mascotte · 13/05/2020 20:15

@Smilethoyourheartisbreaking flaps..?

GroEggAndHam · 13/05/2020 20:15

Smile I tried to join that gang (under possibly a different username) but couldn't keep up. Flaps and chickens in solidarity. 👊🏼

Oh, and what's a MAT? I thought us HCPs were bad for acronyms Grin

rosettesforjill · 13/05/2020 20:16

@GroEggAndHam Multi-academy trust Smile

Jourdain11 · 13/05/2020 20:16

@GroEggAndHam I will try not to moan and complain too much, it gets boring!

And honestly, I'm feeling so much better tonight that my spirits are lifting a bit already. The anti dementoring is helping too!

bookworm14 · 13/05/2020 20:17

Indeed Waxonwaxoff. I’ve been here for ages as well and have never namechanged. The 14 in my username refers to the year I joined! I’m also a Labour Party member so no payments from Dominic Cummings here (although if I get made redundant after furlough ends I may be open to offers...)!
