Oh balls Blush

I just made the mistake of wandering on to a couple of cv threads.

Schools won't be open properly even in September. Classes may repeat the year. Lockdown will go on for at least a year, possibly more.

Someone come and say sensible stuff! Grin

LilacTree1 · 14/05/2020 20:08

Less clapping

Still fireworks though

Sensible stuff, you request?

This is good. Obvious, but nice to read.

TheGreatWave · 14/05/2020 20:09

I am thoroughly fed up of all this shit today. Locals are moaning about the noise from the road again, moaning about dog shit, just everything really.

Work are stressing me out about being off (had covid symptoms, negative test but still feel shit) any local areas are telling us to FO and not come (even though these are 20 minutes away), ds is doing my head in (ASD) and the little one (8) is just screaming. House is a shit tip and I feel a total failure at everything.

On a brighter note, DH wrote down mil's shopping list, I read Tin of pears as peas. Oh well foodbank will benefit, though I could put them on my cereal or something.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 14/05/2020 20:09

@shodan sick to the back teeth of people spouting crap like lockdown will go on for a year, are they really that dense? So everywhere else is starting to ease their lockdowns, will we be the last country in the world still on lockdown next year? Stupidity honestly, individuals may wish to lock them selves down for the next year but normal, critically thinking people will be out living life again

Willow2017 · 14/05/2020 20:10

Still got a couple of stoic clappers here. Well one clapper one pan banger. Thankfully its been really quiet here for weeks.

Cattermole · 14/05/2020 20:11

Scares the bejesus out of my poor timid old cat too, and he's 17 and he deserves more respect. (He pee'd himself whem some arse with a clown horn started parping - @DominaShantotto if you live next door but two to me, we'll start a rebellion!)

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 14/05/2020 20:11

Clapping has calmed down here now. Lasts a minute, clapping only (can hear the odd car horn from the next street) then everyone back in. A couple of weeks ago it was a bloody fiesta out there.

I'm doing bedtime then so have a good excuse.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 14/05/2020 20:12

Lockdown will go on for at least a year, possibly more.

Nah, mate. The vast majority of people can't sustain it that long because we are inherently unsuited to staying apart. Even among my dementor real life friends, there are people saying 'we must lockdown forever' whilst quietly bending the rules themselves. Not because they're bad people but because it's just impossible to live like this. We are social creatures. Many are suffering badly just for doing this for a few weeks. There is a tipping point (I think we've hit it already) where things slide and it's just unworkable. There are increasing numbers of people recognising lockdown is disproportionate given how few younger, healthy people the virus kills. I'm in the same boat as you though - I couldn't do this for a year and panic when I see that stuff. It would kill me, in all honesty and I want to matter too.

Shodan · 14/05/2020 20:15

Aw thanks guys.

I knew I could rely on my Chicken Chums Grin

GroEggAndHam · 14/05/2020 20:19

FYI it's National Chicken Dance Day.

DominaShantotto · 14/05/2020 20:21

We’ve had the clap, now at least 4 households in next door’s back garden for their post clap dose of racism and ranting

Drivingdownthe101 · 14/05/2020 20:23

Forgot it was ‘give the NHS the clap’ night. Didn’t hear anything, but then I was putting the DC to bed.

Bollss · 14/05/2020 20:27

Nobody clapped in our street last week so I was like what the fucking hell is that when pans and whistles started at 8pm. Disturbed me from watering our veg the veg me and 4yo Ds planted and didn't label so it could be fucking anything

LilacTree1 · 14/05/2020 20:31

Chicken Dance makes me think of something else completely

MaudesMum · 14/05/2020 20:32

The clapping around where I live (bit middle class/bit hippy) was almost unnoticeable this evening and I couldn't hear that much from further parts of town. I'm in Somerset, where infection/death rates have been very low, but people have also been quite compliant - mainly, I think, because in my town there's a strong sense of community and people really don't want to do anything that might affect other people. Which is lovely. I did work out that if there's currently an infection rate of .27, e.g. roughly 1 per 400 (as this ONS study today indicated), my town would (on average ) have 62.5 infected people, which really isn't that many. And would make things like tracking and tracing a lot more manageable...

Sandybval · 14/05/2020 20:40

Spanish food is a lovely idea, I'm sure you will have an amazing time!

No clapping around here except for those who bang some pans and pop it on Facebook. There's always a flurry of posts on Facebook about which streets didn't clap much, although I can't see it this week as I got banned for quite reasonably asking why local takeaways were asking for donations for free meals to NHS staff when the food bank is struggling for food, and many people are without an income.

LilacTree1 · 14/05/2020 20:42

Sandy - you got banned?

Wow.

Bollss · 14/05/2020 20:51

Another school thread saying kids won't be in full time school come September.

It's getting me down. I don't know what the fuck I can realistically do if this happens.

MagdaS · 14/05/2020 21:05

Ha, my Y5 WhatsApp group has gone absolutely mental today after the head confirmed he won't be taking them back in with Y6 on 1 June, because the government has said it's not allowed. We're in a very competitive grammar school area and there is absolute fury that the children will be missing out on all the exam prep they normally do in the summer term.

So evidently when it comes to risking success in the 11+, no one gives a shit about the virus Grin

DominaShantotto · 14/05/2020 21:05

Just heard from next door... “I’m 72 and self isolating...” from someone who definitely does not live next door. One of them out there is coughing up half a lung as well (suspect it’s the 40 a day fag habit though)

Then they’re raging we need to be locked down harder!

Orangeblossom78 · 14/05/2020 21:06

Maybe we should do what the young tutor who rang my teen said today "there's a lot of speculation about at the moment but none of us really know so wait and see"

LilacTree1 · 14/05/2020 21:14

Magda - or no one gives a shit about the virus?

Domina - I think half the dementors on here are shouting for fun. I’d have deleted my account by now if not for this thread.

thenightsky · 14/05/2020 21:22

Charlie Brooker is doing a good anti dementor work on BBC2 at the mo.

MinesaPinot · 14/05/2020 21:26

Shodan I made the same mistake on exactly the same threads. Shoot me now. The doom was overwhelming.

Bollss · 14/05/2020 21:27

I wish it was as simple as wait and see I really do.
