Chicken ads for anyone who missed them.

Anyway have fun everyone, I'm off to sit in the park now that it's allowed.

It's a nice, sunny day here, so planning on a little walk later. I would love to be able to go out despicably murdering for hours but my toddler doesn't agree and will go to sleep in her pushchair (which is most definitely a "bad thing!").

I am sure local dementors will suffer fomo, when things start getting back up and running, and they're avowed 'never setting foot over the door' will diminish. I live nearish a seaside, and its redevelopment was blocked so often by nimbyism. When it finally did happen, they were all out - I'm never going into the supermarkets/coffee shops etc. Its not like in my day. Well, looking at the footfall, I think they did! And it has totally revitalised the whole area.

Does anyone else look at the cebm website. Very interesting stats re dates of hospital related deaths, and comparisons of deaths reported on the same day in previous weeks.

Took my DD (5) to play on the street with her friend. Chalks, running, scooting. Two very happy kids. 2m apart was attempted but I will admit, not always maintained. Excited five year olds move fast! DD is now happier than she had been in ages 😊

BreadmanAndCake · 14/05/2020 13:48

Can I join? I've lurked on these threads for a little while now but don't have an awful lot to add except I'm sick of the constant misery EVERYWHERE. You really can't seem to escape it! It's nice to read level headed and rational opinions. Now brb...off to the park to feed ducks with the toddler and probably murder a few people on the way. Smile

Mascotte · 14/05/2020 13:52

Hello, @NUFC69 that's funny about the golf courses- unintended consequences.

I'm younger than you but totally agree with your approach. I'm aiming for a good life rather than a very long one.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 14/05/2020 13:53

@BreadmanAndCake

Of course! hello 😃

Me too- I'm sick of the constant misery

LilacTree1 · 14/05/2020 13:55

NUFC69

Thank you for your post. I’m beginning to realise the people getting on with stuff just won’t ever say it on social media.

I live alone, with no one close by, so it ends up that I feel like there’s no one feeling differently than what I see on MN.

theThreeofWeevils · 14/05/2020 14:02

off to the park to feed ducks with the toddler

Nice idea, andlockdown is getting to us all, but I think they prefer lettuce or spinach - easier to get their beaks round. Grin

MorrisZapp · 14/05/2020 14:03

YES

Loved your post NUFC, although at 72 I hardly think you're on the 'kill me now, save the children' list. Mate you're needed for childcare :)

Scotland is full of smug gits (I'm Scottish). After the Boris debacle they boldly claimed that all the freshly released English would be zipping straight up here to stare at our glens and cough in our general direction.

Why the fuck would they do this? Nowhere is open. Far more likely is that my fellow countrymen will hop in their cars and head south in search of economically active leisure. My DP lives for golf and it is absolutely predictable to me that any golf course north of Hull will be hearing poorly disguised Scottish accents until Nicky decides that tiny groups of men who hate touching anybody are allowed to roam over hills that nobody else likes again.

Toe up the erse is it? It'll be my toe soon if you don't let him out, hen!

iamapixie · 14/05/2020 14:07

Hello NUFC
One of the (many, and number rising!) things I hate about some of the dementoring is also the constant infantilising of elderly people (the age of 'elderly' also seems to have gone down somewhat in a number of dementor posts in an effort to prove that we're all going to DIE!)

littlbrowndog · 14/05/2020 14:08

I will head south for the wine deals soon Morris

Let us out

LeoTimmyandVi · 14/05/2020 14:09

I’m joining too - hello all! It is all a bit bonkers isn’t it, but I am so very grateful for the common sense comments on here, keeping me a little bit sane!

I had to snooze my mum for 30 days on FB today. I can’t bear the doom and gloom memes she posts. I love my mum and would never say it to her face - so a quiet few days of snoozing here may keep the peace and my head in one peace!

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 14/05/2020 14:13

Can I just say that this thread (and the previous dementor ones) are the most kind and supportive threads I think ive ever seen on MN!

Its interesting isnt it? Just shows that uncontrolled fear really doesnt do anyone any favours and it makes people quite nasty

heroku · 14/05/2020 14:18

Thank god for you @NUFC69. Just had a conversation with my mum who was saying that "old people are clearly expendable in this society" and how we all "care more about the economy than people's safety".

I think I just need to stop talking to her about this because I will snap. We've stopped the entire bloody country to save old people! Half of my friends are unsure if they'll have a job at the end of this! Some of them will lose their house! The economy is not just there so we can buy new TVs and go on holiday. How will we pay for schools/the NHS if no one is working?! Agh!

Is it too early for wine? Asking for a friend.

MinnieMountain · 14/05/2020 14:18

@SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito it's lovely to see isn't it? 6yo DS is so happy on the days we see his best friend.

I hope the Welsh Assembly listens to the results of the mental health survey. My DM and DB live in Cardiff. He's got SN and can't work due to the restrictions. DM's really worried about him.

I'm waiting with bated breath to be taken off furlough now people can move house.

Jourdain11 · 14/05/2020 14:18

My DC have spent the whole day out, it seems! So far they've fed ducks, had a picnic lunch and DD1 has taught DD2 to do cartwheels! The "stay outdoors as much as you like" instruction is definitely being taken literally.

I've not had a fantaaaaaastic day so far. I was feeling very sick earlier, but it's better now. And I'm not very comfortable because of the fluid build up on my stomach. It's hard to sit up! I've now found that it seems to be better if I'm lying on my side. Ho-hum.

Wow, I wish I was fit and well and could go out on a murderous park-walking, ice-cream eating, duck-feeding spree. Apparently the little food market has opened up on the main shopping street near here! And some of the shops too. All these opportunities to not "stay the fuck at home" and I can't take advantage of any of them!

Jourdain11 · 14/05/2020 14:20

Is it too early for wine? Asking for a friend.

Any time after 11 is okay, says my mother. She's French, so she is an authority!

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 14/05/2020 14:22

aw Jourdain- hope you feel better soon Flowers

justasking111 · 14/05/2020 14:26

Oh god wine for lunch is fab. at night now give me palpitations so am a firm believer in lunch time wine. bloody menopause.

Oh and while I am moaning, nothing working on here today, trying to find my previous posts on advanced search get a whoops sorry note. Why would I pay for a whoops sorry note monthly rant over.

AnxiousElephant77 · 14/05/2020 14:26

My dd is 13 on Sunday and her best friend is 13 today. They live on the site of a golf course, and we've just surprised them with a socially distanced afternoon tea. They both burst into tears. Hopefully no golfers will be killed as a result of their eating cakes and sandwiches outside.

justasking111 · 14/05/2020 14:27

ah that is so sweet what a lovely idea. We are fooking up our kids badly with this covid hysteria.

AnxiousElephant77 · 14/05/2020 14:29

Ds came with us to drop her off. He was all, 'I haven't been in the car for nearly two months!'

He's starting to look so pasty as well.

BogRollBOGOF · 14/05/2020 14:31

I know it's easy to get "back in the day "about a forum", but there has been negative shift over recent years, particulatly since brexit and MN getting a reputation over trans issues. I predate penis beaker by a modest margin, and MN was always refreshingly robust, in a straight talking, but caring way which was why I liked it. But there has been a gradual increase of plain nasty people who will pounce on anything to stick the boot in. It does get off putting to sensible, reasoned people who are interested in polite discussion.

BirdieFriendReturns · 14/05/2020 14:31

Starbucks is reopened!!!!!

YAY!

LilacTree1 · 14/05/2020 14:33

I get panic attacks

How long do we think social distancing can last? When can I hug my mum?

needanewusernameplz · 14/05/2020 14:33
