I don't trust the current swab tests - difficult to self administer correctly and has a small window to be done in.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 14/05/2020 08:40

The Dementors are having a field day with the Kawasaki links!

Drivingdownthe101 · 14/05/2020 08:41

Completely agree heroku. She’s chair of the PTA, photographer for the school pictures, reads with the children, is in and out of school all day every day normally. I can’t see her relinquishing any of that control and ‘status’.

pearlypidge · 14/05/2020 08:44

Roseanne this is exactly how I feel. I am sharing the nhs England stats with everyone in the hope that some sanity will eventually prevail.

Trouble is, governments all over the world have dug themselves into a huge lockdown hole, and so exiting will be opposed by dementors everywhere. I've stopped reading any threads except for this one, it's just too depressing.

fairycrossthemersey · 14/05/2020 09:01

@RoseannelovesDan

Can you get tickets for the clapping bollocks asking for a friend Grin

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 14/05/2020 09:02

The thing that's weird about the dementors is how unthinkingly they assume that everyone shares their beliefs. On FB, and on a couple of my WhatsApp groups, it's all about staying home and saving lives and how terrible to send the kids back to school and let's all do what we're told. And every time I post anything even mildly in opposition to that, it's as if I've just declared that the virus can KILL EVERYONE IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

Blobby10 · 14/05/2020 09:04

Has anyone seen the letter from Alan Sugar going round FB? In a nutshell - hes asking the UK media to stop scaremongering and start reporting on the positives ie the 95% who recover completely from CV! (or whatever the figure is). If it IS from him then good on him. If it isn't then good on them too for saying something.

And talking of negative journalists, will SOMEONE PLEASE take f**king Piers Morgan away? He's not a 'great journalist' he's a bully who won't let people who don't agree with him get a word in edgeways. And he shouts too much. Grin (I feel better now!!! Smile)

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 14/05/2020 09:05

I am going to make a cake.

Let's just hope that the ingredients which I bought from the shops aren't covered in virus...

Jourdain11 · 14/05/2020 09:14

The Lord Sumption article in the Mail on Sunday was a good perspective too!

Hope you're all well this morning! I'm not too form.... woke up early this morning with a massive swelled up stomach, looking about 5 months pregnant (which was mildly alarming, to say the least). Lots of fuss, and it turns out to be a build up if fluid because my nasty swollen spleen and all the lymph nodes are blocking things (yuk!). So it is not dangerous, but uncomfortable! They are talking about sticking a drain in it - double yuk!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed that charming little update!

Orangeblossom78 · 14/05/2020 09:15

Just read a very depressing post 'by a teacher' (who knows)saying how she wouldn't send her child in and how awful the school day will be including no PE (seems to go against the guidance of spending lot of time outside) Confused had to reply to say that would impact their health and behaviour...

This on a thread about people wondering about returning. Must remember not to look at these threads again and just at what the school has sent me. Some of them are really awful!

PS Alan Sugar! Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 14/05/2020 09:18

Hope you are OK Jourdain, I have had small bowel obstructions and NG tube in the past, so know how unpleasant this kind of stuff can be. Hope you don't need a drain and are not too much in pain. I have the strong co-codomols which helps a bit but try not to get too addicted Smile

Mascotte · 14/05/2020 09:18

@Jourdain11 I have no such reason for my swollen belly 😳 Wine and bread.. Hope they get it sorted, sounds rubbish. 💐

GoldenOmber · 14/05/2020 09:22

I'm fine with Nicola Sturgeon's handling of this in general but I would like a little bit of hope for the future right now. Okay, I agree that we needed temporary drastic measures to stop the virus spreading, I have gone along with all the lockdown rules, now please tell me we'll be out of this at SOME point before 2087.

I have noticed my ultra-nat friends on FB are the most extreme for the "Boris is deliberately plotting to slaughter millions! it's herd immunity all over again!" stuff, but mostly don't mention that until lockdown Scottish Government were using exactly the same strategy as UK Government of "we can't suppress it so just let it work its way through". I know politicians don't like admitting they were wrong but it would help imho if they could all say "oops, turns out we called this one wrong and now have to do some very drastic backtracking to get case numbers down again" - would cut down on a lot of the conspiracy theories.

At least we're supposed to have the test and trace programme here up and running by the end of May I suppose.

@GoldenOmber I think that's my difficulty ha that all of them seem to have followed the same course with the same failings and so I don't get the English bad/Nicola good thing. They've all been the same. Until now. And I've had enough.

Mascotte · 14/05/2020 09:25

Will she free us when test and trace happens?

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 14/05/2020 09:25

@MaudesMum and there was this article
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-52644816

GoldenOmber · 14/05/2020 09:26

good luck Smile!

Sandybval · 14/05/2020 09:29

I agree @TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross, I am on extended maternity leave at the moment because the thought of working from home with a 18 month old alone just isn't appealing. Lots of statuses from people working from home stating 'I am staying home', and calls of being selfish and only thinking of myself when stating that people wanting to go back to work (including myself) to keep a roof over their heads isn't selfish, it's reality and we should be supporting them. Like it's impossible to see from the seat of privelledge at being able to stay home on full pay isn't the only way!

Sandybval · 14/05/2020 09:30

I am chucking DS in nursery (since the childminder keeps demanding money after having hundreds off of us and still losing his place) the day they open!

thatgingergirl · 14/05/2020 09:31

Jourdain11 - hope that gets sorted, sorry you're having to deal with it.

Smile - well done!

Mascotte · 14/05/2020 09:31

Good luck @Smilethoyourheartisbreaking

Bollss · 14/05/2020 09:33

Good luck smile!

Oh no @Jourdain11 sorry to hear that. Hope you are more comfortable soon Flowers

GroEggAndHam · 14/05/2020 09:36

For a bit of balance - a colleague has been contacted to ask if they'll be sending her DC into school in June (she's keyworker but DH home so they've been home until now). When she said yes, mostly to prioritise his and their mental well-being, the teacher thanked her for her honesty Grin, apparently had lots of terrified parents on the phone before that saying the school is unsafe (how kind to say that to the staff). The teacher also confirmed that for R and y1 the focus will be on checking in with the kids' well-being rather than actual work.

fartingsparkles · 14/05/2020 09:43

Good luck @Smile great idea!

@Jourdain hope you're feeling g a bit brighter soon xxx

Well we have been told that our garden waste will be collected again soon. Woohoo!! My garden bin is brimming because when lockdown began I realised that getting someone in to tidy/sort the weedy mess that I was looking at wasn't going to happen and decided that I didn't want to sit and look at said weedy mess anymore. I'm in no way a gardener, but have got it looking tidier - but really need the bin empty, so am grateful for the glimmer of hope
