Just discovered peanut butter cookies, 3 ingredients and totally delicious so sharing it for you

200g peanut butter
175g golden caster sugar
1 egg

80g chocolate, optional, recommended

Mix it all together
Oven at 180
Bake for 12 minutes ish

Try not to eat all in one day....!

I'm putting them as just "nice". I will need to try them again as I thought they were too sweet in that I could taste the sugar if that makes sense. I added chocolate chips.

So easy to make though, and no flour, so they are great just for that.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 22/05/2020 08:12

They are really nice but yes you can taste the sugar ! I find them easy because the two kids can help with not much mess !

@Sexnotgender yes this was one of our aims too as my son doesn’t like the 1kg tub of substituted peanut butter so it was a good way to use some of it up.

@Electrical I would say the cookies themselves are very decent but I said amazing as they are so easy and as PP said don’t need flour which still seems scarce round here. I would make them with less sugar than my son did!

I think next time I would use dark muscovado sugar.

Supermarketworker06 · 23/05/2020 14:58

Can you use ordinary caster sugar?

SoupDragon · 24/05/2020 08:33

You can, yes. It will affect the taste slightly but golden caster sugar doesn't have a strong "brown sugar" taste anyway.

Sexnotgender · 24/05/2020 20:26

I’ve ordered some golden caster sugar to be delivered tomorrow 😊

BikeRunSki · 24/05/2020 20:34

I like those, but find the Jack Monroe ones freeze better.

AMostExcellentStick · 24/05/2020 20:41

Well loved here - the cheaper the peanut butter the better. Doesn't work well with the pure, organic, etc. type.

SoupDragon · 24/05/2020 22:00

The whole point of these is that they don't have flour etc in them which those Jack Monroe ones do. These have just 3 ingredients.

Supermarketworker06 · 30/05/2020 23:38

Update on the jam issue..... I made these today and if you squish them into balls and then flatten them a bit, make a hole in the top then put a dollop of jam in before you put them in the oven, they cook up like peanut jammie dodgers !

StatementKnickers · 31/05/2020 12:59

@Supermarketworker06 that sounds amazing! Thanks so much for reporting back! Will have a go after school tomorrow

GCAcademic · 31/05/2020 13:04

Is anyone else having problems getting hold of caster sugar at the moment?

Fanthorpe · 31/05/2020 13:05

Made them on Friday with soft brown sugar and crunchy peanut butter. So easy and quick! I’d use less sugar next time, they were too sweet, but I’m a big fan! Thank you.

Sexnotgender · 31/05/2020 14:51

Mine are in the oven. The prebaked mix is delicious 😂

Supermarketworker06 · 31/05/2020 21:17

I got my caster sugar in Poundland.
