Do you have an iPhone and an iPad?

Do you use the iPad much if you do?
I'm thinking about buying an iPad, we don't have one currently. I have an iPhone XR which I use for everything! I do love it but I'm just wondering if I will use the iPad much?
The DC have kindle fires that don't get much use as they rather use a beat up old iPod and iPhone 6.
What do you use your iPad for the most?

I use my iPad all the time. I have an iPhone for work but prefer my Samsung phone.

Addler · 07/05/2020 21:29

Yes, but then I don't use a laptop anymore as switched to a desktop PC, so it's handy to have something portable for watching things on when I'm doing jobs around the house, doing online shopping etc. If I still used a laptop I probably wouldn't use it much.

Sgtmajormummy · 07/05/2020 21:42

In my case, apart from calls obviously, the iPhone is for quick checks and the iPad for longer use.
I also have a keyboard for proper writing. I think all these typos we have to put up with and interpret around are due to over enthusiastic smartphone use!
I have a laptop but only use it now for Windows Suite and updating my existing system of files.

lovinglavidaloca · 07/05/2020 21:43

Use my iPad loads!!! Only thing I do on my phone is fb and mn. Everything else is iPad. Get it, you’ll definitely use it and can put books on it too for holidays etc.

Sgtmajormummy · 07/05/2020 21:44

An iPad keyboard, I mean...

Tulipstulips · 07/05/2020 21:45

Yes. I only really use my iPhone for Twitter and WhatsApp (plus calls). Love my iPad.

tiredanddangerous · 07/05/2020 21:46

I’ve wondered about this. I have an iPhone but I can’t really see the point of getting an iPad. It doesn’t do anything my phone can do, does it?

ExpletiveDelighted · 07/05/2020 21:46

Out ipad fell out of use several years ago once we all had decent phones, we all just use our phones for everything instead. I'd say it's at least a year since we charged it up. We do all have laptops though.

userxx · 07/05/2020 21:47

Love my iPad, I use it for everything.

WearyandBleary · 07/05/2020 21:55

I have my iPad on a sort of fold away under cabinet stand in the kitchen. Spotify links into my amp and speakers and I watch tv on it, keep up with Facebook and FaceTime my mum and family while cooking. I love it!

ExpletiveDelighted · 07/05/2020 21:56

I prop my phone up on the kitchen counter for all those things.

Drivingdownthe101 · 07/05/2020 21:59

Yes I have both.
Never use my iPad. I use my phone for everything.

OhMsBeliever · 07/05/2020 22:03

Yes, I have both. I'm on my iPad now. I prefer looking at a big screen for reading the internet and Mumsnet. I'm also reading a book on the kindle app, so much better on a bigger screen. My iPhone is a 6s (I think) so not a big phone.

Sarcelle · 07/05/2020 22:03

I have a personal iPad, a personal iPhone, a work iPad, and a work iPhone. Too much Apple. The thing I use the most is my own iPad.

inwood · 07/05/2020 22:04

Yes but I hardly use the iPad, use my phone or laptop. I don't think I've used my iPad for over a year to be honest. The kids use it for Tik tok.

BertieBotts · 07/05/2020 22:05

We never use our tablet. We just use our phones or computers. I suppose if you don't like using a computer and want to be able to do computer type things on a bigger screen in bed or on the sofa etc, it would be worth it.

RoryGilmoree · 07/05/2020 22:05

Yes but no laptop/computer. Mostly use my iPad to watch Netflix in bed and on night shifts/planes.

My iPad has lasted splendidly though. It'll be 5 years old in September and I love it. The battery is great. It's also very useful with the keyboard.

iMatter · 07/05/2020 22:07

Yes

I use my iPad a lot. Work stuff, SM, streaming etc

H1978 · 07/05/2020 22:07

Definitely get one I use mine a lot, also you can sync with your phone

FamilyOfAliens · 07/05/2020 22:08

Yes, I’m using my iPad now, sitting on a proper chair at a proper table with a proper keyboard. The bigger screen is much better for my eyes and the proper keyboard is better for the joints in my hands.

I think I’d go mad if I had to stare at a tiny screen for everything.

I have an iphone plus and don’t use the ipad much - just for facetime / watching films when the TV is occupied.

Ruddle91 · 07/05/2020 22:12

I'm watching YouTube on my iPad and on here on my phone. I also have a Mac that gets fair use too 🤣

Cuddling57 · 07/05/2020 22:14

Yes both. I love the larger size of the iPad for internet browsing.

UnitedRoad · 07/05/2020 22:14

I have both and use them for different things. My iPad doesn't leave the house, or even the sitting room really as I just use it for games or jigsaws, or shopping. I like looking at mumsnet in it as I can see ‘trending now’, which I can’t from my phone. I don’t have a laptop though.

My phone is mostly a communication device, and I run my Etsy shop from it, do banking, and use it as a remote control for the tv and central heating.
