Apparently it's been suggested it's pronounced Sasha Archangel. But I don't think they've confirmed that.

FamilyOfAliens Cillian is a perfectly normal and common name, it's just not English. It's hardly an equivalent to Elon Musk's not actually a name effort.

I didn’t say it was equivalent. If you read my post again I was responding to the poster who said it was the ultimate in naming your child so you look cool, and then I talked about threads where people ask for opinions on an uncommon name and people reply saying they know loads of children with that name and they’re all really cool.

Sorry if it wasn’t blindingly obvious that I wasn’t comparing the name Cillian and the “name” chosen by Elon Musk.

Good grief. I don’t think it’s quirky. I know it’s an Irish name. I’m talking about threads started by people looking for an unusual name and asking for opinions on it.

I read somewhere that in California you are only allowed to register names with English letters only so the child might be spared from a lifetime of bullying and having to pronounce their name 1000 times per day.

Yeah I can't believe they went with such a blah name. There are three boys called X Æ A-12 in my son's class at school, as well as two girls called X Æ A-12-May and Lily-X Æ A-12. It's all a bit chavvy in my opinion.

Grimes got the name of "our favourite plane" incorrect, when corrected she said it was because she nearly died the day before , giving birth and was confused
