Frozen pea shortage

Moogletea · 05/05/2020 18:46

Anyone else experiencing issues with finding frozen peas? I've been to 3 supermarkets over the last couple of weeks (as part of essential shopping). I'm buying for three other vulnerable households who all want them and I can't find them for love or money

Am I missing some big pea problem?

And yet when I try to add them to my Asda order - no matter which brand I choose - they are unavailable. Could it be a regional thing?

speedymum1968 · 06/05/2020 10:35

Don't know if this helps anybody but I had a order of self raising flour off Amazon a 16kg bag . I bagged it up and gave it out to my neighbours not as cheap as Lidl but a good alternative.

@Fi3ldTrip

We normally have Whole Earth Crunchy and haven’t seen it for weeks.

Is there a B&M near you? Saw loads there this week Smile

Ours is Accrington - it’s a huge home & garden store - they might not all have it

In our area the icing sugar has gone! Not in any supermarket. Probably for the best though!

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 06/05/2020 14:01

I can lay my hands on most things.

Bloody struggling for yeast and condensed milk though.

Don’t be scaring me over peas.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 06/05/2020 14:05

No condensed milk here... But supermarket says it hasn't had any in its delivery for weeks.
Still looking for Plain flour (got SR last week, and a 1.5kg is good for several weeks since we only make one cake a week generally).

Historyofeverything1 · 06/05/2020 14:47

I've been able to get peas however not been able to get frozen sweetcorn (buying tinned at the moment) or cauliflower.

thegcatsmother · 06/05/2020 17:24

@BikeRunSki Loads of peanut butter on Amazon. We buy 1 kg tubs of Pip n Nut.

Not any more - I had this on subscribe and save to ensure we had some, and we were emailed yesterday to say this product was no longer available. It's out of stock on the Pip and Nut website as well.

thegcatsmother · 06/05/2020 17:27

I don't think that I've had problems getting anything other than yeast, and flour and sugar for my neighbour. I have a stash of both and have offered her some if she wants it.

Eggs seem in abundance where I am, and I have 2-3kg of frozen peas in my freezer at all times anyway.

Tinned toms, tomato puree, passata, tea bags and coffee are the next things to go short according to other threads on here.

FliesandPies · 06/05/2020 18:41

Frozen peas in Iceland today, and SR flour and caster sugar in Sainsburys! Shock Lemon drizzle cake here I come..

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 06/05/2020 19:02

Get you Flies! Grin

Would say all round to yours for afternoon tea tomorrow but.... Wink

FliesandPies · 06/05/2020 19:09

Doreen - consider yourself virtually invited! Grin

Dylanpickle · 06/05/2020 19:13

No issues with peas or eggs, however not a packet of flour or bulgar wheat to be found.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 06/05/2020 19:15

I’m there!

Will virtually bring homemade limoncello and a rather scrummy but vicious sloe gin.

Guaranteed to make you forget about the lack of yeast. Or anything really Grin

boatyardblues · 06/05/2020 23:16

Bulgar wheat not available where I am.

Changeofname79 · 07/05/2020 07:44

So far we have managed to get peas every shop, we are relying on frozen peas a lot as it means we are not shopping so often for veg so I am hoping it stays that way.

JacobReesMogadishu · 07/05/2020 07:50

Not so worried about peas. We’ve got a bag in the freezer, and sweet corn and edame beans so that’s all good.

Also got a 1kg tub of pip and nut delivered just before this kicked off. I like the coconut flavour one and can only find it on amazon. So that will keep me going as well. I’ve also got a few tubs of marmite flavour peanut butter and had another jar of that in my click and collect from Tesco at the weekend. It’s really nice if you like marmite.

Standrewsschool · 07/05/2020 07:52

Peas in morrisons, but limited in sainsbury last week.

For me, wrapping paper. The above two stores were completely out. I’m sure there’s no more birthdays than normal, so is it a supply issue. Ie. Is it made abroad and can’t be transported here due to the current situation,

Clawdy · 07/05/2020 08:26

Most things available near us, apart from flour and some fruit teas! Oh, and surface wipes are like gold dust.
