Favourite Harry Potter characters

Since I’m currently re-reading the HP books in lockdown (first time in over 10 years!) and fancied a a bit of Harry Potter discussion.

My favourites are still all of the Weasley’s, particularly Mr and Mrs Weasley- there’s something so lovable about them as a family.

Dobby - I still haven't got over him dying, sniff.

Neville Longbottom, we all loved him from book 1.

Mrs Figg. A really minor character, but she was just quietly there, keeping an eye on Harry...

I must be one of the very few who have never read any of the books or seen any of the films.

Mrs fig wasn't keeping very good eye on him. I consider child abuse a pretty serious matter. And Mrs Figg or Mcgonagal (who apparently kept checking up on him) should have stepped in. Not to mention Harry's primary school and social services.

Mrs Figg and Mcgonagall couldn't have stepped in though could they? I thought the spell protecting him only worked while he could call Privet Drive 'home'. Even if it was a shit home.

They could have said something, threatened them with social services. I don't know but re-reading the first book Harry would have been taken into care if people knew. I don't think you realise how bad it was when you read it as a kid. And also Harry is not as affected as a real person would have been.

The Weasley kids were ruined in the films. Ron had all his good lines and character development given to Hermione, Ginny was just not a great actor and so lost a lot of spark. The twins were odd.

Harry was completely failed by his Primary School, medical services, neighbours, etc. Unless Dumbledore was Confunding them on a regular basis, then he was complicit...
