Do you watch TV in the daytime?

Just occurred to me today that we don't turn on the TV until the evening. It's usually because there's something specific that we want to watch. I've never been tempted to turn it on in the daytime and neither, it seems, is anyone else in the house.

DC do go on phones or iPads (not gamers, it seems), for probably around an hour day, and DH and i both like to browse online, so it's not a daytime screen aversion.

Is this unusual? Do you watch TV in the daytime?

Saturday mornings is the only time I have the TV on during the day.

It's usually switched on for Pointless/House of Games when I'm preparing tea. Then again about 8pm to catch up with dramas etc.

For me it’s not about laziness, I just can’t stand noise during the day. I don’t listen to the radio either for the same reason. Worst is when I’ve just woken up, I need total silence. My ex used to have the TV on all day Saturday and Sunday and it gave me really bad headaches, so often I’d beg him to turn it off. He wasn’t watching anything anyway, just had things like come dine with me on while he messed around on his phone! Now I’m single I live in a quiet world and I like it that way!

Meruem, I agree about noise, I hate ‘background’ tv or radio/music on ... unless you are specifically watching/listening to something. I love peace and quiet too & fortunately my DH is the same, he occasionally listens to music but luckily we have a house with enough rooms so that I don’t need to hear it.

Strange how so many of us have the same attitude to watching TV. I feel wretched and guilty if my or DD watch tv in the day.
At the moment I like that we only watch it in the later afternoon (DD) and evening as it breaks up the day.

We do if we are home off work.

We arnt at the moment as both Dh (teacher) & Dd (student) have a full Zoom timetable and Dh needs the living room. Ds (cancelled exams) watches Disney plus upstairs.

No. I have music on all the time instead. We watch very little terrestrial TV...just netflix and Sky atlantic/ arts.

Interestingly my parents never allowed TV during the day and ever since I moved out, I've always had it on all day.

I do wonder if there's a connection.

fartyface I grew up on old films. I was particularly entranced by 1970s disaster movies. Grin Also black and white films-musicals and gangster ones being my favourite.
Old films can be very entertaining for young children. I'm not scarred at all!
