How many people, and what style of game (party game like exploding kittens / strategy / family ...?)

Piggywaspushed · 02/05/2020 09:26

EK is fun but not a board game as such.

Ticket To Ride? Articulate? Linkee is good.

Ticket to Ride is awesome.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/05/2020 09:29

For older children and adults, (simply because it takes a bit of brain power to keep up with changing rules) Fluxx are really fun card games.

AhCheeses · 02/05/2020 09:30

Colour Brain!

nostaples · 02/05/2020 09:30

Thanks all. Will look into those.

I can recommend hundreds but would need to know ages and some details of what kinds of things the players like?

DonLewis · 02/05/2020 09:32

Agree with rummikub, letters or numbers.

We've rediscovered boku.

Kids? Dobble is brilliant.

And learning new card games. 9 card brag is my current fave.

NewSkyToHangYourStarsUpon · 02/05/2020 09:32

We got ticket to ride at Christmas and we love it.

Scategories
Game of Life
Pandemic 🙈

Patchworksack · 02/05/2020 09:32

We like Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Qwirkle, Azul.

nostaples · 02/05/2020 09:33

Children are older teens. We like Pictionary, Balderdash, Monopoly and Pit. Bought a couple of new ones recently that were disappointing - stacking cats and Forbidden Island.

I generally hate all games as my over competitive sister ruined most in childhood, but I love Ticket to Ride and Sorry.

New Cluedo is better in my opinion as it's a lot easier for my sn daughter.

Plain old Knock out whist is a good card game.

Madratlady · 02/05/2020 09:34

What ages and how many players? Dh is a huge game enthusiast and we have 300+ games. A few of my favourites that suit all of our family (4yo sometime needs a little help but 6yo can manage these) are Quacks of Quedlinberg (probably my favourite), Takenoko, Barenpark, patchwork (2player only), Azul, Sagrada, Tiny Towns, Welcome to, King of Tokyo,

Others that the kids might find trickier due to more complicated rules or just being trickier: Suburbia, Brass Birmingham, dice hospital, Racoon Tycoon.

ProfessorHasturLaVista · 02/05/2020 09:35

Munchkin
What Do You Meme?
One Night Ultimate Werewolf

sm40 · 02/05/2020 09:35

Sushi go, Cards against humanity family edition and Monopoly Deal.

TubereuseNordlys · 02/05/2020 09:36

We love Codenames - it's brilliant

bravotango · 02/05/2020 09:36

Bloodrage, 7 Wonders, Splendour, Small world (my fave!)

Some good two player ones: Jaipur, Targi, 7 Wonders Duel

MrAlyhakinsMassiveYacht · 02/05/2020 09:37

Really Nasty Horse Racing game. Looks a simple and slightly boring game until you realise the potential for absolutely fucking over your nearest and dearest.

Bairnsmum05 · 02/05/2020 10:03

Rummikub 100%, people of all ages love it.

Piggywaspushed · 02/05/2020 10:08

Card games are always good : I agree Knock Out Whist is the best. We also like War to play in a pair with lots of time to kill (which we all have...).

DS and I played TTR obsessively : haven't had a game for a while (plans for later!)

Also for little ones, Candyland (confession: still play it with 16 year old every Sunday!)

Lessstressedhemum · 02/05/2020 10:55

Bears and babies is hilarious, if you like exploding kittens.
Scythe, Risk, Axis and Allies, Diplomacy (if you want one that you need to commit to), good old-fashioned D&D.

milienhaus · 02/05/2020 10:58

Ticket To Ride, Splendour (if there’s only four of you), Settlers of Catan, Scrabble (classic), Carcassone

islandislandisland · 02/05/2020 10:59

The really nasty horse racing game! Love it
