Mine is D. B. Cooper. He hijacked a beong 727, stole $1.25 million in today's money, and parachuted down to earth with it. His identity is unknown and it's unknown if he survived the plunge to earth.

I don't why people keep talking about Elisa Lam? Its obvious she had a psychotic episode.

BearSoFair · 28/04/2020 14:15

DB Cooper for me too. I can't believe that not only has he never been found, but also that the majority of the money has never shown up either! Only one bundle was ever confirmed to be found by one person, something like $5000 if I remember rightly.

The disappearance of Timmothy Pitzen- his mum Amy picked him up from school and took him on a 3 day road trip and to amusement parks before she committed suicide in her hotel room.
Timmothy was nowhere to be found and she left a note saying he'd never be found Sad

happyhuman123 · 28/04/2020 14:38

Madeline McCann.
Someone knows what happened.

Lordfrontpaw · 28/04/2020 14:44

I'm going to have to look these up arent I (that's my afternoon planned then)

@covetingthepreciousthings - I also love the Denver airport artwork. When you look at the artist it's not too much of a mystery. That hideous horse statue - it's a mystery why it was ever built!

@NurseThePurse I listened to a good "Casefile" podcast about Amy Lynn Bradley. So sad.
The worst thing is the phoney detective who financially exploited her poor, desperate parents. Utter evil scum.

The Somerton Man ( Tamam Shud) is weird too.
Also the missing flight.

But most of all that poor little girl. You know who.

30under · 28/04/2020 15:23

Bermuda Triangle.

NurseThePurse · 28/04/2020 15:29

Oh thanks @BettyUnderswoob I’ll listen to that tonight. Such a sad sad story

M0chaJoes · 28/04/2020 15:35

Trevaline Evans

Daniel Entwistle

Zeb Quinn - although clear who did it

Raylene Helsley - again, clear who did it

Just a few you may not be familiar with

aerosocks · 28/04/2020 15:38

The Derby winner Shergar. Kidnapped, £2million ransom demanded but never paid.

userabcname · 28/04/2020 15:38

That group of men who went to see a sports game one night and then disappeared. They were found (well, at least a couple of them were, not sure if they all were) having died of starvation and exposure even though they'd broken into a cabin with food supplies and blankets etc. Really weird - why didn't they just eat/use the stuff?!

BarefootHippieChick · 28/04/2020 15:42

Madeline McCann. I think 99% of Britons must wonder what really happened.
Andrew Gosden. I feel he was murdered by someone he met in London.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 28/04/2020 15:44

Not so much fascinating but so sad..the Beaumont children. To lose all 3 children at the same time and then never knowing what happened. Both parents are dead now as well I think.

Also the Sodder children. House caught fire..4 escaped and 5 never been seen since. No bodies found in the fire either.

Lordfrontpaw · 28/04/2020 15:44

Oh that poor boy - there are often posters of him around London. I suspect he went to meet someone who turned out to be not what they said. Poor kid.

daysofpearlyspencer · 28/04/2020 15:48

April Fab, disappeared in 1969 whilst stopping by a field with a pony to pet it, they found her bike but not her.
A month after that I stopped my bike to pet a pony, a man came and asked me if I wanted to go see his horses and if so to get in his car, I jumped on my back and peddled off as I was late for tea, I was the same age as April and lived about 75 miles from her. I never told my parents about the man and only thought about it when they had the 50 years anniversaryof her disappearance in 2019.

BarefootHippieChick · 28/04/2020 15:49

lordfrontpaw I think that too. Otherwise surely after all these years someone would have seen him or heard from him?

AlternativePerspective · 28/04/2020 15:54

I wonder how many of these mystery disappearances were people who actually went missing through their own choice.

I do wonder what happened to that individual who shall not be named, and I wonder whether the younger children might ever shed some light once they themselves become adults.

BertieBotts · 28/04/2020 16:00

Oh, I didn't know the water tower thing had been debunked about Elisa Lam, that was always the weird part for me.

Just been googling the 411 thing, and it sounds mainly like people getting lost in the wilderness and not knowing where they are, hence turning up miles away from where they were supposed to be, or bodies never found. (Maybe eaten by wildlife). The clothing being left behind is random, but otherwise it doesn't sound that far fetched to me.

BertieBotts · 28/04/2020 16:02

Alternative, weren't they about two at the time? They probably don't even remember her, let alone anything that happened around her disappearance. My eldest hasn't seen his dad since he was 2.5 and he can't even remember what he looks like without a photo.

AlternativePerspective · 28/04/2020 16:06

@ BertieBotts yes but they will have grown up in the shadow of the disappearance and if there was any suggestion that those close knew what happened I think it would be hard to keep a child from finding out or at least suspecting. Iyswim.

AgeLikeWine · 28/04/2020 16:14

MH370.

In the 21st century a Boeing 777, one of the safest Aircraft ever made, with 240 people on board cannot just disappear Into the ocean without explanation. But it did.

There are various theories about what happened and why, but until we locate the wreckage they remain speculation. My own theory, for what it’s worth, is that vital evidence was concealed or destroyed by the highest levels of the Malaysian government, but we just don’t know the truth.

Applejaxx · 28/04/2020 16:19

I live fairly near where Trevaline Evans went missing and have heard that the police have a fairly good idea what happened to her but can't prove it.

Tony Parsons - the man who went off on a sponsored bike ride in Scotland with no preparation, and vanished.

I tend to think he was unfit, stopped somewhere off the beaten track and had a heart attack, but who knows?
