Do you wash your hands...

...with hot soapy water after every single wee INCLUDING night wees?

I don’t. DH thinks ‘everyone’ does. But he’s lived with me for the last 11 years so I’m not sure how he knows about ‘everyone’.

if I would need to go out at night I would. but sinceI don't need to I don't

OchonAgusOchonO · 28/04/2020 19:37

@Bobsandbitz - unless you clear every time the toilet is flushed, then there will potentially be germs on the handle. Cytomegalovirus can spread through urine so traces on your hands can be transferred to other surfaces in the house if you don't wash them.

If you clean, and are clean overall, you have less chance of picking up any germs from your own environment, surely???

Of course. But if you don't wash your hands after going to the toilet, you are not clean.

DecadentDeity · 28/04/2020 19:48

*And we wonder why diseases spread......

If you flush, the toilet handle will potentially have traces of e-coli etc. Cytomegalovirus can spread through urine.*

Yes apart from night time wees and I don't flush at night either. Flush after morning wee and wash hands.

HugeAckmansWife · 28/04/2020 19:53

I don't day or night. I am v v rarely sick and neither are my kids. Honestly can't remember the last time any of us has any sort of germ related illness. Current situation aside I think people now are massively too wound up about extreme levels of 'clean'. It's your own body's skin cells or whatever. It's not radioactive. I get my kids to because they aren't old enough to distinguish between at home and out and about and we do when we're out so as not to potentially pass on anything to anyone with weak immune systems but at home it's really unnecessary after a simple wee.

OchonAgusOchonO · 28/04/2020 20:05

@Bobsandbitz - clean like a maniac, so my toilet handles are not that dirty. I zoflora them a few times a day, when I'm at home, in between uses.

That level of chemical usage is not healthy either.

bettybattenburg · 28/04/2020 20:08

Yes, of course.

My2centsare · 28/04/2020 20:11

No but I also don't flush either.
Your immune system appreciates a bit of urine on the hands

1066vegan · 28/04/2020 20:21

I always wash my hands with soap and water after I've been to the toilet, but we don't always have hot water.

UnfinishedSymphon · 28/04/2020 20:24

Always

Alsohuman · 28/04/2020 20:26

Of course. I’m horrified people don’t. And as for not flushing - just vile.

DustyMaiden · 28/04/2020 20:31

Yes, always

Someaddedsugar · 28/04/2020 20:35

I wash my hands every time but with cold soapy water not hot soapy water.

Chillipeanuts · 28/04/2020 20:38

So, are you the disgusting woman who I followed out of the loo in Morrisons (weeks ago Grin), hadn’t washed her hands, pushed her waiting trolley straight over to the loose fruit stand opposite and started handing it?

She did flush, to be fair. Needed too judging from the smell 🤢 (do you flush in public loos or just leave it to the next lucky customer?)

(Yes, we should always wash fruit but rather know there wasn’t poo on it, dirty cow. And yes I know you were talking about wee.)

Baconisgoodformeee · 28/04/2020 21:00

‘Vile’ not to flush a small amount of nearly colourless, odourless liquid which will sit in some other water WHICH WILL SIT THERE ANYWAY. Talk about an overreaction.

It’s possible to go for a night wee without touching any surfaces, especially if you’re a man, so I don’t see the problem with not washing hands then

My2centsare · 28/04/2020 21:09

@Chillipeanuts
You know you should wash your fruits and vegetables? Or are you one of those disgusting people that doesn't ? I find that more vile.
I generally wash during the day and flush. At night I don't flush or wash hands. The water makes noise and could wake me up. But also, my immune system. Grin

Ltdannygreen · 28/04/2020 22:24

Yes.....I have ocd so I wash my hand after touching a door handle,

ponchek · 28/04/2020 22:26

No at night I think I don't, but then v rarely get up in night

But yes rest of time

TroysMammy · 28/04/2020 22:29

Only at night if in the dark I haven't pulled enough toilet paper off the roll and got wee on my fingers. I don't do a hot water wash as it takes ages for the water to run hot and I want to go back to sleep quickly. During the day yes.

Gilead · 28/04/2020 22:44

Yes, why wouldn’t you?

HarryHarry · 28/04/2020 22:47

Of course! But the water isn’t always hot. It doesn’t have to be to kill germs.

SpoonBlender · 28/04/2020 23:03

Cold water rinse. I'm not waiting for the hot to come on, and there's no need to be so frightened of your own genitals that you need to soap up every time you get near them. Urine is sterile.

OchonAgusOchonO · 28/04/2020 23:31

Urine is sterile

No, it's not.

SnowsInWater · 28/04/2020 23:41

I have a mixer tap so don't get instant hot water. Soap and whatever temperature the water runs at.

disconnecteddrifter · 28/04/2020 23:43

No and I'm never ill.

Lavenderpurple · 28/04/2020 23:52

Nope, I’ve got severe eczema on my hands and I have to apply steroid creams before bed. If I washed my hands it would not only aggravate my skin it would wash all my lotions off.
