Let’s fast forward to 30 June, do you think the lockdown will be gone seeing as that will be the initial 3 month period up?

I really hope so! Tbh I can't even predict what will happen by the end of this month never mind June. I've looked at the graphs and it seems like we are over the peak

fourpeasinapod · 26/04/2020 12:46

@ChesterDraw I really hope so - the numbers do seem somewhat lower

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/04/2020 12:48

Yes, I think so. There will still be social distancing in place, I don't think pubs and theatres will be open but the lockdown we are at currently will be relaxed.

yomellamoHelly · 26/04/2020 12:58

I think it'll have been temporarily lifted and schools will be open to selected years. Social distancing still in place and large gatherings still not allowed. Looking forward to a little respite.

midgebabe · 26/04/2020 13:04

If hospital admissions halve every three weeks I guess ( from memory ) that takes us to around 350 hospital admissions per day by then, which is about 3000 infections per day in the community , which should be manageable through test and trace? which would mean a lot more freedom

SausageCrush · 26/04/2020 13:13

Yes. Schools will be back in some form and we'll all be adjusting to the new, social norms.

fourpeasinapod · 26/04/2020 13:18

I see no point in sending schools back in the last few weeks of term. May as well keep them off

I hope lock down isn't over until Covid has well and truly slung its hook.
It takes as long as it takes. I also think there should be harsh punishments for those not stic king to the rules. The Government can't just end lock down because we're all fed up. We're almost 5 weeks in and the situation still isn't getting any better, and it is partly because people are ignoring the rules..

fourpeasinapod · 26/04/2020 13:22

@Awwlookatmybabyspider yeah I agree, the lockdown shouldn’t be lifted too early or that’ll just make This bad awful situation about 100 times worse.

I’m just hoping by June there will be Significant improvements so that it can be lifted slightly

SpudsAreLife84 · 26/04/2020 13:27

I hope lock down isn't over until Covid has well and truly slung its hook This is not going to happen, people cannot remain on lockdown indefinitely! We could be 18 months plus from a viable vaccine- that's providing the actually are able to make one given other coronavirus' track record with vaccines- it's not going go happen. The government will only pay furlough for so long, by June people will be going back to work and school, and social distancing will remain in place with things like pubs, theatres etc remaining closed along with gatherings of people outside of households etc.

GinNotGym19 · 26/04/2020 13:29

I don’t think corona will ever fully go, there’s no evidence people can’t catch it twice or more so I think this will probs be something we have to live with and hopefully eventually be no worse than flu.
Really hoping by 30th June we can atleast visit friends/relatives houses even if you can just see another 1-2 households.
As a single mum I’m not sure how long it can go on for before everyone gives up its very hard not seeing another adult!

Boredofthisstagenow · 26/04/2020 13:33

I definitely agree @GinNotGym19, I’m on my own too with a small child. I hope we will be at the visiting another household stage before June.

midgebabe · 26/04/2020 13:49

The situation is getting better. The numbers being admitted into hospital daily have halved since thepeak . The death rate is slowly declining. We are making progress albeit painful and slow

Slattery · 26/04/2020 13:51

I really hope not.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/04/2020 13:54

@GinNotGym19 me too. I just want to be able to visit my family and friends.

fourpeasinapod · 26/04/2020 13:55

Does anyone think summer 2021 holidays will go ahead?

OP posts:
CaroleFuckinBaskin · 26/04/2020 13:58

I hope lock down isn't over until Covid has well and truly slung its hook.

Well that isn't going to happen so you might need to come to terms with that.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 26/04/2020 14:22

I think they'll have relaxed the rules a little, to allow to visit family/friends.
I don't think we'll be fully back to normal though, and lifting will be a gradual process.
I don't see the point of schools going back for the last term, it's too soon and seems pointless for a few weeks and then to be off again.
I think September is more likely.

Magic2020 · 26/04/2020 14:27

Does anyone think summer 2021 holidays will go ahead?

I think it depends on whether there's a workable vaccine by then.

Figgygal · 26/04/2020 14:29

The furlough scheme will end and thousands of people will be made redundant
As admirable as it is it’s hiding the scale of unemployment at the moment
Not everyone can snap back to jobs straight away

Magic2020 · 26/04/2020 14:30

I'd really like schools to go back this academic year, even for the last couple of weeks, so that DS1 can say goodbye to his school friends before they all disappear to do A levels elsewhere!

fourpeasinapod · 26/04/2020 14:32

@Magic2020 true. It was a very sudden and unexpected end to school life for many pupils in their last year (primary school / year 11 / year 13) etc.

Hopefully something can happen so they can see each other once again

@Awwlookatmybabyspider we cannot stay in lockdown until coronavirus has gone. We cannot fund everyone to stay at home that long.

fourpeasinapod · 26/04/2020 14:45

Yeah coronavirus will never go away, it’ll just become part of society like the cold and flu are
