No idea but they don't look very fresh

TheCheeseAlarm · 26/04/2020 11:44

The first one looks like tarragon

Guttersnipe · 26/04/2020 11:45

I think the first one is tarragon. Not sure about the 2nd but if it was garlic, it would smell of it.

supercee · 26/04/2020 11:46

Another vote for tarragon (first).

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 26/04/2020 11:46

Second one almost definitely wild garlic.
Not really what I would expect in a veg box and you have to be meticulous with it to avoid botulism- not leave it getting all droopy like that.

Is this genuinely a veg box or has someone set up like a fred-from-call-the-midwife/del boy 'business', aided by a plant recognition app, foraging and delivering sad bundles of anonymous greens?

Vicbarbarkley · 26/04/2020 11:47

Lemongrass?

Igneococcus · 26/04/2020 11:47

yes to wild garlic.
My first though was tarragon as well but the stems don't look quite right.

misscockerspaniel · 26/04/2020 11:48

The 2nd picture: I have wild garlic in my garden and it doesn't look like that. It looks more like a wilted peace plant.

Oakmaiden · 26/04/2020 11:50

Where did you get your veg box?

dangermouseisace · 26/04/2020 11:50

2nd is wild garlic that is certainly past its best.

wowfudge · 26/04/2020 11:52

Trim the bottoms off the stems and stand in water in a glass or mug in the fridge and see if they revive. The first is tarragon. Not sure about the second, but might be easier once it's revived a bit. I bought something similar looking from Ocado last year - didn't last well, was a faff to prep and was decidedly underwhelming to eat. I can't remember what it was though.

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 26/04/2020 11:56

First is tarragon

Ninkanink · 26/04/2020 12:01

It’s tarragon, and it’s in fine condition.

If you don’t want to use it right now just take all the leaves off the stems, chop up and mix with butter, divide into a couple of portions and freeze. You’ll have lovely tarragon butter next time you want to have roast chicken. 👍

Ninkanink · 26/04/2020 12:02

Not fine as in excellent condition, heh. What I mean is, it’s still fine to use.

Piscesperson · 26/04/2020 12:03

2nd looks like wild garlic, will perk up when stood in some water : )

Ninkanink · 26/04/2020 12:03

Yes they’ve just wilted a bit. Will be okay with some water.

PegasusReturns · 26/04/2020 12:04

Yep tarragon and wild garlic.

fuckinghellthisshit · 26/04/2020 12:05

It was delivered into our greenhouse and we didn't know it was there until I saw it this morning! Hence wilted.
Thanks.
Yes it's a real veg box :)

First is definitely tarragon-bet it smells gorgeous.
Second is what the US calls ramps and what we call wild garlic.

fuckinghellthisshit · 26/04/2020 12:06

They're in water now
Just need to figure out what the heck to do with them
And the other oddities 😂

fuckinghellthisshit · 26/04/2020 12:07

@Ninkanink thanks that's perfect 👌

Tarragon and wild garlic.
Wild garlic mash is amazing

fuckinghellthisshit · 26/04/2020 12:10

Our local fancy pub has started doing various bits and bobs to keep ticking over whilst shut, we can't really afford it but buy a box a week to support them and help them keep going. Some odd bits thou and last time we didn't like the 'salad' only to layer discover it was actually stirfry greens 🤣😂

Great
Tarragon in the freezer
Garlic in the mash
👍👍
We also have a large red cabbage that everyone is scowling at 🤣
