Hello
we have booked for croatia for end of july, have paid the £300 deposit, balance of £3000 due in a few weeks...really think we should just cancel and lose the deposit....cant find any info on net about this...has anyone booked with jet2 and cancelled or taking a chance etc...have used the credit card just in case etc....many thanks.

We decided to cancel and lose our deposit for a holiday booked for June.

We cancelled at 4pm one day - the next day they cancelled all holidays up to and including ours anyway.

£180 lost, but we had no intention of travelling in the current situation even if they'd let it go ahead anyway.

imnottoofussed · 22/04/2020 19:33

I wouldn't cancel I would wait for them to cancel on you so you can get your money back

earsup · 22/04/2020 19:33

Thanks...not sure what to do about this one...first proper holiday for a while....still have time to consider options....

You won’t be going on the holiday. I would cancel and lose the deposit based on how difficult most people are finding it to get a refund for holidays that have been cancelled recently

WickedlyPetite · 22/04/2020 19:35

How many days do you have left to pay the balance?

Wait until the very last day that the balance is due, and see where things stand then.

TheGirlFromStoryville · 22/04/2020 19:38

Jet2 cancelled our Easter holiday, we were due to go on the 4th. Received our full refund back on card today, I'm quite relieved as apparently a lot of people are just being offered vouchers or credit notes.

When does your balance have to be paid?

earsup · 22/04/2020 19:41

Hi
balance to be paid in 4 weeks time.

We are also booked for Croatia in September with Jet2. Balance due mid July. I’m waiting until end of June to see what is happening.

Ilovejammies90 · 22/04/2020 20:00

Hi we’re booked for Spain end of July
I am planning on paying in full and either get a refund or credit note
Also jet2

Maryann1975 · 25/04/2020 09:11

We are in a pretty similar situation to you. Greek island booked for August. Paid £300, balance of over £4000 due at some point in May. We don’t really want to go anymore, we’ve decided there is too much risk and we wouldn’t want to end up on a Greek island with the illness. I think we are going to forfeit our deposit and not risk paying the balance. Jet2 are saying all holidays will be going ahead by mid June, although I don’t know how they can say this when who knows what the government advice will be at that point?
When I looked at the same holiday next year it was £1000 more expensive than what we have booked it as. They also still have availability for our exact holiday and we could get that for £800 cheaper than we have booked it for. Normally it’s virtually impossible to book a holiday for 5, in August at this point in the year. I reckon if they are allowed to fly, there will be an awful lot of cheap deals available.

Sadie789 · 25/04/2020 09:13

Wait for them to cancel. TUI still hasn’t cancelled ours for end of may which is fully paid up. It’s their move. They are hoping you cancel them so they can dig in to the T&Cs and only give you a partial refund.

Ratoncita · 25/04/2020 09:16

Wait for them to cancel on the if chance that they refund your deposit - otherwise don't pay the balance and lose the deposit. But don't pay the balance as the chance of getting your cash back is probably low you'll likely just get vouchers.

Mumtothelittlefella · 25/04/2020 09:28

That’s a lot of money to loose. Can you not wait until nearer the time and look to move the holiday to next year? From what I understand priority for 2021 bookings is being given to those with holidays booked this year

NichyNoo · 25/04/2020 09:49

I’m in the same boat. Balance due for our July holiday in 3 weeks. We’re going to wait for another fortnight then cancel. We’ll lose £300 deposit but stand the risk of losing £3000 if we pay in full then can only get a credit note or if Jet2 go bust.

Wired4sound · 27/04/2020 13:41

We are due to pay the deposit on our June holiday on Friday and want to move it to 2021.

Looking at the FAQs we should be able to do this for the admin fee (£35) but we’ve emailed and tweeted and we are still waiting for a response.

It would help if jet 2 had something on their website saying how long the response queues were.

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 27/04/2020 13:48

DD is also booked to go with Jet 2 at the end of July. She has been able to push back the date when her full balance is due - I don't know if that might help others?

bettybyebye · 27/04/2020 14:03

Hi OP we are in the exact same position - due to go to Majorca end July. So far we have paid £240 deposit but balance of nearly £3k due mid May. I do not think we will be going and don’t really want to hand over the balance if I am not going. I joined a jet2 holidays group on Facebook for info. People on there have had success at rebooking for next year, and/or getting a couple of weeks extension to the payment balance. I think I am going to email them to try to get it changed to next year. I think there will be an admin fee to pay but on balance would rather pay a small fee now and then not have to pay the full balance of the holiday until next year.

earsup · 18/05/2020 02:33

We cancelled .. jet 2 said they will possibly give us the lost deposit amount of 300 off another holiday...so can't complain...just too much uncertainty..

Sadie789 · 18/05/2020 02:36

I have a friend who works for Jet 2. This year is effectively a write off apparently so you won’t be going on this holiday. However as others have said, wait for them to cancel you.

Knackerelli · 18/05/2020 08:36

We were meant to going with jet2 in August. We cancelled and lost our £250 deposit. We just thought that even if flights were going do we want to be in a country where nothing is open, the locals will hate us for going and possibly bringing the virus and then face two week quarantine when we return? No thank you. Gutted as we never go abroad but hey.

beeny · 21/05/2020 08:48

We are due to be going to Venice at the end of July. The balance is due beginning of June.

Any views about what we should do ??

Breathmiller · 21/05/2020 09:05

I'm not sure about package holidays but we booked flights only with Jet2 and should have been flying next week.
We have had the full flights refunded without having to do anything. They have kept us informed right up to the money coming back in this week. Very impressed compared to stories I've heard about other companies.

Unfortunately the villa we booked separately refunded us nothing of our large deposit. The holiday was the first family holiday in 15 years and was paid with a little money left to me by my late grandmother. Gutted that we didn't get the money back. Goodness knows when we will be able to afford it again. We are trying through the insurance but nothing yet

Spied · 21/05/2020 09:09

Jet 2.
We cancelled our end of July holiday.
Was happy to loose £240 deposit as it meant I didn't have to worry about trying to get the 4K back!

Spied · 21/05/2020 09:09

Lose

beeny · 21/05/2020 09:23

Thanks everyone for your advice.
