People who know about iPhones - please help!

I have an iPhone XR. I absolutely hate it, it's huge, I have to use two hands to hold it. It's so heavy it pulls the holdy-device in the car downwards and I constantly have to push it back up again

I have to message with two hands like I have a Blackberry. When I've tried to message with one hand whilst lying down, the phone has hit me in the face. It's actually so annoying I want to throw it out of the window and get a Nokia 3210.

Now, I'm going to just pay the money to escape the contract and upgrade, but to which other iPhone? Which of the other (newer) iPhones are smaller and less ridiculous? Due to lockdown I can't get into the shops to see the phones, but using the comparison tools online it looks like most of the new ones are just as big and just as heavy... really?! Is that right?

Oh I actually miss the days where Apple brought out one new iPhone, not 3 or 4 at the same time just to offer the market different options confuse me.

And please no suggestions of getting an Android, I can't cope with phone related change, I would have no idea how to use it and it would be more stressful than being hit in the face by my phone most nights.

How are you getting the new SE delivered on Friday. Where did you pre order from? This has totally passed me by. I have been waiting in this for ages as my old 5s is on its last legs.

Just imagine being able to text with one hand and be able to open your phone without taking your sunglasses off. seriously FaceID is fucking stupid

I love my xr despite having tiny hands I love a big screen my last phone iPhone SE was tiny

I've got the old SE and it's a brilliant phone, it was £240 when I bought it, the new one is pretty pricey!

I just upgraded today, going from an 8 Plus to an 11.

I looked extensively at the new SE and while it's not quite what I'm looking for (I love a massive phone!), it's right up your alley. As pp have said, it's basically a turbo charged 8. Excellent value for money, by the looks of things.

If you're getting a screen protector, go for a tempered glass one. I switched from the standard film style to tempered glass and it's so much better.

You can get a pack of two for a couple of quid on eBay/Amazon.

How long have you had it? I have an XR and it felt strange for a couple of weeks, I also needed two hands to text and kept dropping it on my face! My hand seemed to adjust though and I love it now.
You can pull the keyboard to either side and shrink it down to a smaller size to use one handed, have you tried that?

Get the new SE , I’m getting one

@Belindabelle I’ve just ordered it with sky, my DH needed a new one and this thread sparked my interest so i did a bit of research and it’s coming Friday

My old SE seems to be dying, just in time !

At 400£ over 5 years works out 6.60 a month, plus usage, I’m a fairly light user so get 5 sim

iphone 8 size for the screen protector? and can I use tempered glass along side a silicone case?
Have not seen much fanfare about the roll out of the SE but it's just what I was looking for. I wonder if there will be supply issues with iphones from China

Apple are saying delivery between 30 March - 7 May.

Considering I didn’t even know it was being launched this week I don't suppose that’s too bad, but I want it NOW. Might try on line with John Lewis when it is launched on Friday. Tempted by the red.

Re: making the keyboard smaller, to be honest, I'd rather just get a new phone. I also hate the fa t it's FaceID but thought that all new iPhones were.

I have the 8 Plus and I love it. Not too small to watch things but not too big to be a two handed deal.

I also always seem to get compliment on the quality of pictures/video off the phone.

So the SE or 8 Plus.

Sounds like the SE 2020 is for you then, it still has Touch ID. I loved the move to Face ID, I can wear gloves when it’s cold and the fingerprint wouldn’t work if my hands were hot or I was holding something and wanted to use the other hand, but I guess it’s not for everyone.

Xs is a bit smaller than the Xr - I've just upgraded from an 8 and I have the smallest hands ever and it's not too bad. Taken me a week to get used to no button though....

What kind of case?

I have a silicone case that snaps onto the back and sides of the phone, leaving the screen unprotected. The tempered glass then goes onto the front, covering the screen and bezels.

Screen protectors for an 8 should fit the SE.

Why did you get it then? The XR is one of the large models, you should've got a 7 or 8.
