My period appears to be stuck!

HELP ME!

I have been pre-menstrual for about a week and still no sign of my period. I usually get two days of grouchiness and then it gets going but this is just going on and on and on...I can feel that it's right there but just not arriving, iyswim. At least one week ago, I felt very 'the night before my period arrives-ish.' The tension is ratcheting up and up.

It feels a bit like when you are on a plane, and it keeps circling the airport but not landing.

What can I do to hurry the fucker up? This has never happened to me before - has anyone else experienced it?

ARGHHHHHH

As you can all tell, I'm feeling excessively calm about the situation.

Have you taken ibuprofen by any chance? Always frightens my period off.

BuffaloCauliflower · 20/04/2020 12:40

Are you sure you’re not pregnant? PMT symptoms and pregnancy symptoms are really similar

Any chance you could be pregnant? My early signs, aside from throwing my guts up due to HG, was that "period about to arrive" feeling but no period to go with it.

Or alternatively, how old are you? I'm approaching 40 and have noticed that my pre-period feeling has gradually lengthened from a day or two to three or four days instead.

ToriaPumpkin · 20/04/2020 12:40

Take a cheap pregnancy test. Always scared mine into appearing!

Brogley · 20/04/2020 12:42

It could also be lockdown and lack of exercise/changes to diet/anxiety/stress. Exercise often improves PMT and when you're busy you are less likely to notice milder symptoms so it may just be that lack of usual activities is making you notice it more.

QuestionableMouse · 20/04/2020 12:42

Stress can play a part. Mine is about due but I have a feeling I'm going to be late due to stress.

Put some white trousers on and go for a walk. Never fails me 🙄😂😂😂

thenorthernluce · 20/04/2020 12:46

Having sex sometimes rummages mine out of hiding 🤷🏻‍♀️

I bloody love MN Grin Always cheers me up Grin Grin

Hmmmm. I can't remember an incident that could've resulted in me being upduffed but it's possible (DH uses condoms). We are a bit careless sometimes. I do have some cheapo pregnancy tests somewhere so I'll do one later. I reckon there's a really slim chance though.

I'm in my mid-thirties Brogley so perhaps that could be a factor.

And I took Ibuprofen a couple of days ago for a headache so it could also be that.

Basically, there are a lot of options Blush

YourVagesty · 20/04/2020 12:48

feckin name change fail. As you were.

I had that this week! I was a week late and even took a test. In the end I put a pad on just in case, decided to go for a walk and as I was lacing up my shoes did the classic 'OH!' And ran to the bathroom. It almost needed a pad to be there for permission Grin

YourVagesty · 20/04/2020 12:58

Hopeful

I wonder if it's the weirdness of everything going on at the moment?

bingowingsmcgee · 20/04/2020 12:59

Urgh I hate this! I've found it happens more and more since being in my 40s. Another thing I feel since 40ish is that my period drags on once it's there; like my body is less efficient at expelling what it needs to and getting it over with. Anyone else get this?

spiderlight · 20/04/2020 13:04

Exactly this happened to me a few years back. The reason for it is currently upstairs not doing his English homework.

0nwardsAndUpwards · 20/04/2020 13:08

Just checking in for the HPT results OP Grin

Stick some clean sheets on before you go to bed tonight, mine loves coming a day or two early when I do that 🙄

chipsandgin · 20/04/2020 13:08

The reason for it is currently upstairs not doing his English homework 😂

Same here - but the reason for it happening to me is still asleep as appears to be functioning in a different time zone! This was about 17 years ago when I had a similar experience to OP...

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 20/04/2020 13:16

Mine started last week, www very feeble and watery (tmi) and was gone again the next day!

I'm 45 and possibly perimenopausal, and with all the changes going on around us I just look upon it as a nice month off.

Tumbleweed101 · 20/04/2020 13:36

Mine's popped up a week early :(.

lilyboleyn · 20/04/2020 13:37

Sex or ahem a bit of self love’ll wake it up.

H1978 · 20/04/2020 13:37

Lots of water and as others have said go for a walk, should start it off

spinthebottle · 20/04/2020 13:38

Me too!!! I’m 9 days late!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 20/04/2020 13:39

Buy an expensive pregnancy test, that's usually enough to scare mine into appearing!!

WhoAteAllTheDinosaurs · 20/04/2020 13:39

This happened to me twice. One is asleep on me, the other is sitting beside me...

WhoAteAllTheDinosaurs · 20/04/2020 13:41

Otherwise, buy a pregnancy test, put your best pants on, change your bed sheets, and have sex. All of the above will work to bring it on.

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 20/04/2020 13:48

I've had awful PMT for a good couple of weeks now and no sign of anything happening. And the most painful fanny stabs yesterday. I'm in the peri-stage of life so guessing it's to do with that.
