My period appears to be stuck!

HELP ME!

I have been pre-menstrual for about a week and still no sign of my period. I usually get two days of grouchiness and then it gets going but this is just going on and on and on...I can feel that it's right there but just not arriving, iyswim. At least one week ago, I felt very 'the night before my period arrives-ish.' The tension is ratcheting up and up.

It feels a bit like when you are on a plane, and it keeps circling the airport but not landing.

What can I do to hurry the fucker up? This has never happened to me before - has anyone else experienced it?

Had EXACTLY this .... then lo and behold it arrived on Saturday morning when I was out for a run. I'd even taken a pg test by this point, which was negative clearly. I felt pre-menstrual for over a week and was, by all accounts, a fecking nightmare to live with! Poor DP!

had exactly the same last week. The bugger was a week late in the end. I was not happy having sore boobs and cramps all that time. Zero chance of pregnancy.

It was utter horrendous when it came. It started off black and the cramps had me curled up on the sofa and they wouldn't let me sleep properly. Weirdest period I've had for a long time.

These are times of extreme stress though and it can play havoc with our cycle. Sometimes an orgasm can give it a rattle if you're have the gumption for it.

I'm having that now! Boobs have been agony the last couple of days. I had a little bit of blood yesterday, so put a pad on, but nothing since! I've been walking every day, clean sheets last night, and nada! Definitely not upduffed, unless I'm 4 months gone....

Mine is late too, and I've felt rubbish for days. Definitely not pregnant, haven't had sex! I think it's stress, two to three weeks ago when I would have been ovulating was the beginning of lockdown.

I get this sometimes too. Orgasms contract your uterus and this generally makes mine make an appearance...

Oh wait, there's mine now. Better find the painkillers.....

This happens to me quite a lot, I have pcos so thought it might be down to that, also mid thirties so around the time it all starts to change I guess. I have been taking evening primrose oil this month and it seems a lot better

Update:

It seems that my period is just an attention whore and wanted me to post about it on MN before it would put in an appearance! The floodgates have opened and normal life should resume shortly. Phew!

Mad though, that so many of us are in the same boat. I think WhatsWith got it right. Those of us who are late now would've been ovulating when lockdown commenced so the stress probably buggered our cycles up.

Interestingly my period was a week late too. It arrived and it was the weirdest period I’ve ever had. I’m reassured that there’s others in the same boat. I assumed that stress would play a part but it’s really quite interesting to see how many people have experienced the same in the last few weeks.

Mine as well! No chance of pregnancy though! Really odd.

Weird, I am currently 12 days late, I am 45 and dh has had the snip so 99.9% sure I'm not upduff..... but like you i can almost feel it inside, to the right hand of my belly. Very sore boobs, completely fucking hormonal and emotional and fed up with it all now! Have put it down to perimenopause but maybe its not?

Yeah. I am ahem beyond this now but I can remember any slightly weird thing (travelling in particular) would send my period way of course. Not surprised the current weirdness is doing the same thing for you.

Mine arrived last night! It's been delayed by stress and illness before, so I'm not surprised.

I wonder if this is reflected across the whole country?

So relieved mine has finally come. My boobs were ridiculously sore and my tummy looked full-on pregnant. I can actually sense myself deflating.

I wish mine would be late! Had 2 full 7 day long ones with just a 6 day break in between.... even my period tracker app asked if I was sure

I just had a similar experience. I’m 34, not ttc but a little careless. Period was four or five days late but felt pre-menstrual for ages beforehand. I think it is the stress of the lockdown.

@bingowingsmcgee mine is shorter since I got my 40’s but it’s heavier as if it’s desperate to get all out at once. I used to be 11 days long now it’s 3-4 at a push but horrendously heavy.

This is absolutely what's been happening with me too! I'm on my period now but it was 8 days late. I'm usually like clockwork. I took 3 pregnancy tests (1 was expired so I ordered a box of two) and I've also had the worst PMS ever - extreme bloatedness, constipation, migraine and tinnitus. So bad I seriously wondered if I was preggers.

I'm thinking now it's a combination of stress, furlough worries and gorging on tons of junk food at the beginning of lockdown.

Mines still not arrived I’m now 10 days late. Took a pregnancy test and it’s negative I’m so bloated!
