In memory of Victoria Wood who died 4 years ago today, FAR too young.

Please share your favourite sketches, songs and quotes, not least to keep us all amused during the current weirdness.

I'll start with one of my favourites, the legendary Kitty:

"No the secret of my youthful appearance is simply mashed swede. As a face-mask, as a night cap, and in an emergency, as a draught-excluder."

Love dinnerladies, housewife 49, and that tv film she did I think it was called Pat & Margaret?

balonzz · 20/04/2020 10:38

She was brilliant! I loved so much of what she did, but I particularly liked her 'you know when you're getting old..' sketches - so perceptive.

Oh I loved Victoria Wood. What a loss.

Dontreadtoomuchintothis · 20/04/2020 10:42

Can you see it on the trolley? 😂

CharlotteCollinsneeLucas · 20/04/2020 10:47

That Day We Sang.

And the Yorkshire brass band sketch where she mentions her dad, Willy Eckaslike.

WandaFish · 20/04/2020 10:53

Kitty "sex!, sex!, sex!, You'd all be better off with an 800 piece jigsaw puzzle"

Very sadly missed 😞

Greenteandchives · 20/04/2020 10:55

I know it’s Julie Walters on Victoria’s show, but Two Soups is legend.

formerbabe · 20/04/2020 10:56

Love Victoria Wood!

My faves were Pat and Margaret...just brilliant. And what was the one set in a health farm?

Loved the comedy sketch where she was a check out girl and the girl who swam the channel.

doubleshotespresso · 20/04/2020 10:56

Pleased to see this thread.

I thought she was an amazing talent and so innately British -I miss her dearly.

HollowTalk · 20/04/2020 10:57

She was so funny - I still really miss her. Her poor kids - she must have been a lovely mum.

SpyApp · 20/04/2020 10:58

I miss her and her hens in the skirting.

The World of Sacherelle

DMCWelshcakes · 20/04/2020 11:29

Those fake documentaries were so well observed.

"Pamela Twill is 47. She's never been married, she's never been engaged. She's never been to a bowling alley with anyone called Raymond."

Dinnerladies is just amazing. We were so lucky to see most of the episodes being recorded.

I also loved the half hour shows she did about being at the health farm, camping with Celia Imrie etc. So clever and funny.

Rockbird · 20/04/2020 11:39

"I imagined some latent bladder problem. It never occurred to me you were crouched in the grass with your trousers round your ankles frantically gobbling Fruit and Nut."

CoolCarrie · 20/04/2020 11:47

The scene in Acorn Antiques where Julie Walters comes in as Mrs Overall in a leotard , leggings and her tray is soo funny, you can see Celia and Duncan trying not to laugh.

Susie Blake as the announcer “And we’d just like to apologise to our viewers in the North, it must be awful for them “

“ Never touch prawns. Do you know they hang around sewage outlet pipes, treading water with their months open? “
“ Not on The eiderdown” Thora Hird In Pat And Margaret
Thora Hird again in dinnerladies, “ do you get that skirt from a catalogue.” No, pity , you could have sent it back”

CoolCarrie · 20/04/2020 11:50

What a terrible loss, that year was bloody awful, her children must be proud of her, it was sad news.

augustusglupe · 20/04/2020 11:55

Yes it was so sad and Prince died the day after.

I love Dinnerladies!!
‘Can you smell my Charlie’....A drunk Jean to Tony Grin

mogtheexcellent · 20/04/2020 12:01

she did a sketch with Roger Moore in the London Eye and she looked a total fox in it. She seems to have been a lovely lady.

My fav sketch is difficult. Aside from the obvious brilliant ones I love the health farm one. That was a half hour one off called Mens Sana in Thingummy Doodah. Also love any send up she did of TV shows.

WandaFish · 20/04/2020 12:02

Pamela Twill, Mr Right "I've met Mr Wrong...I've met a few Mr reasonably okays...I spent a long afternoon in a bus shelter with Mr halitosis"
