The Times has the knives out for Boris today.

So who is behind this? Is your money on Gove? Could he stab Boris in the back once again?

Not Raab or Hancock.

I would like to think it won't be another Tory.... Go Keir!

What’s Andrea Leadsom up to these days?

Full article, I think it’s pretty well written and very damning. <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.is/20200418182037/www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/coronavirus-38-days-when-britain-sleepwalked-into-disaster-hq3b9tlgh" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">archive.is/20200418182037/www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/coronavirus-38-days-when-britain-sleepwalked-into-disaster-hq3b9tlgh

If Johnson steps down I think it’d probably be the best way to secure himself the status he craves. His popularity after coming back from the brink of death must be relatively high, he could step down and everyone would understand because - pregnant fiancée - nearly died etc.

I think Rishi Sunak wants the top job. He got a lot of positive publicity but at the end of the day he had an easy job... being the popular man giving out money. It will be interesting to see how popular he is when he has to reclaim it

dementedma · 19/04/2020 20:58

The times article was very good. Too soon for Sunak but keep an eye on him for further down the line. I’m not a Tory voter (I’m apolitical) but was always impressed by Ruth Davidson as Tory leader in Scotland. She was the only credible opposition to Sturgeon and is a loss to Scottish politics.
who could forget her irritated “ Och, sit DOWN Nicola!” After one too many interruptions by our glorious first minister

The most important thing is that Cummings goes.

That man is proving himself to be worse than my worst nightmares. Terrifying.

Pedallleur · 19/04/2020 22:08

Gove has always been skulking about eyeing #10. Mogg feels it's his birthright to be PM. Sunak may fancy the job but not yet. They have to let the virus and Brexit be over as Boris may be brought down by either/both or the Garden Bridge report. Patel would love it but she has no chance. Cummings may well be Kingmaker in all this so Boris is his current choice

CuriousaboutSamphire · 20/04/2020 10:22

There's a pretty sound rebuttal f that Times article on the government website. I was already aware of some of the inacuracies (lies) in the article, but not some of the others! Even basic facts like dates are incorrect... we deserve better journalism!

Anybody who has stood for leader last year is likely to still have ambitions. Most politicians want to be PM, except some backbenchers who just want to hold their seats.

EmpressMcSchnozzle · 25/04/2020 19:58

My money's on Gove. By the end of the year. Anyone know if Ladbrokes are running a book yet?
