I’m watching Cats (2019) 😧 and would like more of this sort of horror please!

Ah. I didn't know. That explains a lot. Sorry and thank you. still really dislike Ted

noitsachicken · 19/04/2020 07:44

Dougal and the Blue Cat!
A weird magic roundabout film, it was terrifying!

bookworm14 · 19/04/2020 07:50

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is a PG, astonishingly. I first saw it aged about 8 and was scarred by the scene where a man has his still-beating heart ripped from his chest.

bookworm14 · 19/04/2020 07:51

I forgot Willow (fantasy film with Warwick Davis). That’s a PG and it’s fucking petrifying.

NuclearWinter · 19/04/2020 07:52

Watershit Down.

That General. Oh dear God, the General....

Ratbagcatbag · 19/04/2020 07:52

Monster house - watched with my then 10 year old DSS. We both hid behind the sofa cushions.
More recently rewatched with my 7 yo DD. It's still as creepy.

Coroline - WTF!!!!

InkieNecro · 19/04/2020 07:55

Short circuit. Watching him get beaten up and bleeding to death is bizarre.

TitianaTitsling · 19/04/2020 08:04

Dot and the kangaroo, for some reason terrified me!

DrMaryMalone · 19/04/2020 08:06

When the ghost of the little girl is thrown off the cliff in The Lady in White. There’s a lot of violence towards children in that film.

Ivebeentohellanditscalledikea · 19/04/2020 08:11

According to my children Coralline is terrifying.

I used to be scared of:
Watership down
The witches
Labyrinth
Return to Oz

Toomuchtooyoung01 · 19/04/2020 08:12

Return to Oz - the wheelers in particular
Robin Hood Prince of Thieves- the witch terrified me
I also remember a scene in Round the Twist where a clown was hiding under someones bed and grabbed them by the ankles - terrifying for after school viewing

Toomuchtooyoung01 · 19/04/2020 08:12

Also, as a young child, the Demon Headmaster!

Tonz · 19/04/2020 08:15

Pinocchio terrified me as a child. He is abducted on his way to school sold to stromboli and is used as a slave. At one point the boys are turned into donkeys. When he finally makes it back to Gipeto (I think that's his name) he finds he's been swallowed by a whale and pinocchio actually dies. Faiy brings him back and turns him into a real boy. Fuckin scary

Aethelthryth · 19/04/2020 08:15

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Child Catcher gave me nightmares for weeks

Wired4sound · 19/04/2020 08:18

Bambi and Dumbo - banned in our house

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 19/04/2020 08:19

Anything with Robin Williams RIP.
He came across as so creepy and when he made kids films they always seemed to have a dark element to them!
He was an amazing actor though.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 19/04/2020 08:20

Coraline
Tarka the Otter
Marley and me
Bambi

All horrific.

Snugglepumpkin · 19/04/2020 08:23

My little brother insisted on watching The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) many years ago when he was about 10-11.
It's rated PG & for some reason my mother was convinced no black & white film could be 'that bad' for a child.

He had nightmares about being trapped & battling giant spiders for years afterwards.

CalleighDoodle · 19/04/2020 08:23

My children have just finished watching series one of Creeped Out. Accurate title.

The changing heads in Return to Oz.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 19/04/2020 08:26

Star Wars A New Hope is a U. However you see someone's arm get cut off and it gushing blood and you get a nice close up of aunt Pru and uncle Owen sizzling corpses.
I have only vague memories of Return to Oz, probably because I spent most of the film terrified. It's funny because I like horror films now.

CatsGoPurrrr · 19/04/2020 08:34

Hocus Pocus
Any Studio Ghibli movie. Fucking weird, the lot of ‘em.

verybritishproblems · 19/04/2020 08:34

The Neverending Story when his horse gets stuck in the mud and won't move....

Yes that effected me as a child

Back to The Future is only PG, but rewatching it as an adult, the rape-attempt is horrible and goes on way too long.

Agree. It’s obvious what’s going on, ruins the film.

It’s Krull for me, anyone seen it? It’s a bit like Labyrinth. There’s a bit where these dwarves get impaled on spears and it goes on too long and the piercing is too slow. I remember having nightmares as a child.

IceniSky · 19/04/2020 08:39

Return to Oz
Willow. Put that on to watch with DD and turned it off.
Pinocchio. Was on the other day. Felt very uncomfortable about the creepy man encouraging children to go with him by giving them sweets, and the young girl gets given a room. I didnt know about them turning into donkeys and initially thought it was a paedophile thing!
Cant recall if PG or 12 but we saw one of the Planet of the Apes at the cinema and I was shocked at the violence for children.

Clawdy · 19/04/2020 08:44

Miss Peregrines Home is a 12a. There are a few on here that aren't PG.

Tonz · 19/04/2020 08:45

The worst thing for me with pinocchio is nobody goes back to save the other kids. They are just left
