Ultimate bacon sandwich?

I've just made the perfect bacon roll.

• Buttered, hot ciabatta roll cut and lightly toasted under the grill.
• Quality bacon perfectly cooked (not burnt but fat crispy)
• Mayonnaise and ketchup.

Fucking hell that was good.

I’d NEVER toast bread for a bacon sandwich. I like thick, soft bread and crispy bacon. Toast would be too much crunch 🤮

Soft white barm cake, oven baked bacon with crisp fat, use rendered bacon fat on the bread, not butter or anything else. Tomato ketchup or brown sauce optional.

Two versions:

1. Fresh, white bread, butter, smoked bacon with crispy fat, smear of hit bacon fat on the bread, skim bread with English mustard. Cut into triangle quarters.

1. Wholemeal bread lightly toasted, butter, squish fried tomato slices, black pepper, add crispy smoked bacon - this sandwich must be halved.

Whatever the style top quality bacon must be used. This is not negotiable.

@London1066, it's brilliant. Not too much though. I've got the sainsburys own, because the pataks one had too much of a curry taste.

White sliced farmhouse loaf (fresh!)
Salted butter
3 rashers of proper butchers smoked back bacon with the rind, grilled so it’s crispy AND (this is the crucial bit) a couple of rashers of either streaky or pancetta, whatever is in the fridge - the combination of the 2 types is perfection.
Ketchup.

But whatever you do, don’t use shit quality bacon. Most supermarket stuff in packets is just an abomination, pumped with water and poor quality meat.
I’d rather have one excellent bacon sandwich a year than daily crap ones.

Thick slices of crusty bloomer
Crispy back bacon slices
HP Sauce
Strong tea

I have a new fear of waking up in someone's house, hungover, and being presented with some of these monstrosities.

This happened to me once, I was famished and hungover, a bacon sandwich was just what I needed. I was given one with brown sauce in, which I had to force down out of politeness, it was such a disappointment.

Brown sauce absolutely belongs on a bacon sandwich. Mayonnaise and tomato sauce definitely do not.

I like:
Fresh crusty bread roll
Butter
Bacon with crispyish fat
Brown sauce

No butter, no sauce and it has to be streaky bacon.

Oh gods yes. I was given one at FIL's that was the cheapest bacon he could find - probably those bacon bits you used to be able to buy that you're supposed to use for soup. 90% fat and barely saw the inside of the pan. Bleurgh. DH ate it and said I don't eat first thing (which is true). Bless him.

Thick cut white bread
Salted butter
Nice smoked bacon from a butcher
Ketchup

Whole ciabatta sliced/butterflied, drizzle of olive oil on the inside and toasted in the griddle pan
Lots of very crispy, smoked streaky bacon
Generous amount of brown sauce on one half
Cut in 2 and share
Yum

Crispy bacon, fresh crispy lettuce and sliced tomatoes with black pepper on white bread with salted butter!
Proper BLT!

Not toasted is best.

Or if I am feeling nostalgic- white bread, well done bacon and lashings of Lurpak. Just like my DNan used to make. She lived til 93 so can't be too bad
