Mine is 'everyone you love is going to die'.
Let me explain as it sounds morbid; it makes me realise what's important and how much time I want to spend with people

I remember an Uncle of my Dads who was an eccentric old chap used to always drop Latin words and quotes into his sentences every so often. My favourite one was "aut via inveniam aut faciam" (I think) which is roughly "either I find a way or I make one" which I always loved. I say it to the DC sometimes - they clearly don't care one bit but I imagine when I'm long gone they'll say it to their DC and receive the same blank looks from them.

Appreciate what you do have.
It's important to take a minute and realise what you are lucky to have.

The family motto I have told my ds for years is "if you can be anything, be kind" long before the current be kind resurgence.

The family motto I've told my DH since we moved in together many years ago is, "if you don't like the way I do it, then do it your damn self".

Keep the buggers guessing.

Etinox · 18/04/2020 18:13

Don’t get caught
Enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think

^ this is what I’m thinking all the time. In public I’d say, and have done at team building, prayer group type thing, ‘Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.’ and ‘it’ll be all right in there end, if it’s not all right, it’s not the end’ which I also believe. But the don’t get caught, carpe diem force is strong in me. 😳

YgritteSnow · 18/04/2020 18:13

"There's always one"

Because there always is. No matter how pleasant or enjoyable a job/occasion/gathering/friendship group etc is there'll always be one difficult or trouble making person. Expect that she you'll never be taken by surprise.

Trumpspeach · 18/04/2020 18:13

Keep buggering on.
Which I think was attributed to Churchill

Tink1990 · 18/04/2020 18:14

Trust noone, suspect everyone. Not quite as uplifting as others, but serves me well Grin

This too shall pass;
In hard times it reminds me that it won’t last forever and when things are good it reminds me to appreciate it
Also; no matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up and never give up

Crinkle77 · 18/04/2020 18:14

I don't have one. They're a bit like inspirational quotes, a bit cringy

Pieceofpurplesky · 18/04/2020 18:16

Never forget where you came from

Also, in the words of Confucius - wherever you go, go with all your heart

AgentProvocateur · 18/04/2020 18:16

Mine is This Too Shall Pass. I find it reassuring when times are tough.

FrameByFrame · 18/04/2020 18:16

Chance comes to the prepared mind.

It will all be alright in the end, and if it's not alright it's not the end.

MBM18 · 18/04/2020 18:16

You only die once, you live everyday

1forsorrow · 18/04/2020 18:16
