I am practically dribbling at the thought of some good Japanese food, and there is no way I could hope to fakeaway it at home

Miso soup, velvety tofu, vinegared seaweed salad, sashimi, chicken yakitori, proper green tea and warm sake.....

The school run, especially dropping my beloved darlings off for a day of education and socialising! I'm really missing all the little bursts of getting out and having a structure to life.

Running races. I'm doing OK with the running and the weather is helping with running's sake, but it is nice to have a target and a plan. Parkrun.

DH going to work. Over a month of him working from home has been OK, but I do miss time to myself.

Doing OK with nowhere to go, especially after the awful winter we had since September, but the good weather has helped and I have pleasant, easily accessible countryside. My calves are missing driving off to the valley though, they hate running uphill.

I'm really starting to miss human touch. Im still working as an essential worker but within housing rather than care. I live alone and haven't touched another human being for about five weeks
I crave a hug from DD or little GS
Ive never before contemplated a time when something I took for granted would be impossible

ParkheadParadise · 20/04/2020 18:50

A McChicken sandwich from McDonald's.
My family esp my niece and great- niece and nephew.

Swimming. Can’t wait for that feeling of just being surrounded by water again

SymphonyofShadows · 20/04/2020 18:58

Gigs.
Driving, I picked up a new car a few days before I got the shielding text and we went into this lockdown. It’s been sitting on the drive ever since.
We’d just discovered a fab Chinese/Thai place that I’ve been dreaming about going back to.

DaphneduM · 20/04/2020 18:59

Seeing my daughter and little grandson
Going to the pub
Going into town for a good browse around the shops
Going to the garden centre

Lolimax · 20/04/2020 19:02

The beach. Our caravan. The company of people that aren't DH and my lovely NHS colleagues. Sitting in a cafe with a bucket of tea and a huge cake people watching. My DS who has stayed away in his uni house. Walking the dogs via the pub and sitting in the beer garden. My friends.

Howmanysleepsnow · 20/04/2020 19:04

Holidays
Driving somewhere
The countryside
Knowing what day it is
Leaving the house on a whim
Casual social contact (the only sort I had!)

LuckyLuckyWoman · 20/04/2020 19:05

My adult kids. Technology is all well and good but it doesn't give hugs

Barbararara · 20/04/2020 19:08

Just being able to eat what I fancy on a whim without having to assess how that impacts the meal plan, whether it’s fair on everyone else, how much we have left, etc.

BubblesBuddy · 20/04/2020 19:10

OP: my DD has a Japanese Restaurant that’s converted to a take out near her. She’s so pleased! It’s those special things that you cannot recreate are home that now mean a lot. I’m just missing someone else making me a coffee!!

JasonPollack · 20/04/2020 19:14

Fish and chips. Shielding so not risking takeaway.

My mum who was meant to be here helping me with my toddler as I'm 36 weeks.

Wandering around outside without guilt or fear.

ifyoulikepinacolada · 20/04/2020 19:14

Pret a manger cheese croissants, hugs, and lifting weights!

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 20/04/2020 19:20

Country parks & castles.
I’m watching outlander just now & I know most of the castles used for filming very very well - I want to watch my kids run around Blackness Castle with their friends, listen to the flag whipping in the wind & the birds.

MrsMartinKemp · 20/04/2020 20:07

My mum
My friends
Going for walks/dinner/drinks with the above

I’m really missing my family now. I know it’s for the best and we are continuing to adhere to the restrictions. It’s better than the alternative.

I found last week quite hard though, proper pangs of missing people. I want to cuddle my nieces and nephews.

Tigertale · 20/04/2020 20:13

Just being able to nip out to buy something if I need/want to without feeling guilty for doing something that isn't 'essential'. We're not a shielding or vulnerable family but, like many people, have not been out now for a month aside from a walk on the farm.

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 20/04/2020 20:15

Shopping for random shit I don't really need.

ohcorona · 20/04/2020 20:39

Just some time to myself.
Popping to the shop.

Milomonster · 20/04/2020 20:41

Hot yoga classes and traveling.

MigginsMs · 20/04/2020 20:41
