Potentially lost tampon - not sure what to do?

Sorry if any of this is tmi!

Had a couple of glasses wine last night. I’m normally quite heavy periods so wear towel and tampax during night. Got up this morning to change tampon and can’t find it I’ve checked twice nothing there. I’m sure I put one in but can’t remember 100%. But if I definitely didn’t then I would have expected that to be more obvious on the sanitary towel (sorry did say tmi).
Is there anything I can do to know?

Do you have a partner to shine a tory up there?

Or squat, beat down and have a proper rummage. Did you get up in the night and remove?

TeddyIsaHe · 15/04/2020 08:29

Fucking hell, a TORCH.

shine a tory up there Grin

1066vegan · 15/04/2020 08:31

@Teddyisahe That was the best typo I've seen for a very long time. DP jyst gave me a a very strange look because I spluttered my tea everywhere.

Enough4me · 15/04/2020 08:32

Do you have a partner with longer fingers? Can you use an applicator to move everything about up there?

Queenoftheashes · 15/04/2020 08:32

Hmm which Tory tho?

Enough4me · 15/04/2020 08:35

BoJo has seen enough of them to know what he's looking at, but you need one with longer fingers.

perniciousdot · 15/04/2020 08:36

I just woke DH up because I laughed so much the bed was shaking Grin

Greenandcabbagelooking · 15/04/2020 08:36

Most Tories would be too dim. You need a much brighter spark.

On a serious note, a warm bath to relax muscles, then push down. Also check the bun for evidence of a wrapper or the applicator. If not, GP for you today!

helpmum2003 · 15/04/2020 08:36

I would phone your local contraception /Sexual health clinic. Consultations are by phone and some get seen after. Because there's a risk of infection if left in i think they may see you.

Elouera · 15/04/2020 08:36

This is actually a common issue! Have you checked the bin in the bathroom incase you put it in there? If its heavily soaked, it can easily slip out whilst sitting on the loo and go unnoticed (esp if you'd had a few drinks!) I find when I'm sleeping, I don't bleed that much, but as soon as I stand and walk about, it gets much heavier. This might explain the lack of much on the pad? I accidently put a 2nd one in and only realised later when I felt 2 strings!!! Shock

I assume you have tried squatting down low and feeling around. The vaginal canal is only so long, and the tampon cannot get past the cervix. Obviously, keep an eye out for offensive discharge, but if you cant feel anything whilst squatting down, its likely you removed it, or it came out in the loo and got flushed.

foreverblessedbee · 15/04/2020 08:39

🤣nearlly made me wet myself the idea of Boris Johnson searching wih a flashlight fornsinething lost ul the op's nether regions😅 Sorry op lol. If you definitely pole around enough you will feel it wvwn if its turned sideways. You will be able to fish it out xxx

gamerchick · 15/04/2020 08:39

Definitely squat. It can't go anywhere. Do to have someone who could have a rummage for you. A partner obviously?

confusednortherner · 15/04/2020 08:40

Dd wants to know what's funny as I've just choked on my drink😂 I'd go for a long bath see if that helps maybe...

Redcherries · 15/04/2020 08:46

If you have a low cervix they can hide above it, at the back so to speak.

Crouch on the floor, bear down and see if you can find it, failing that if you have a partner there its easier for them to check as its less of an awkward angle.

Second checking the bin, I had a similar panic earlier in the week after wine but I had put mine in the bin.

Manyminieggs · 15/04/2020 09:20

I laughed so much at the typo that I genuinely misread another posters comment as contact your conservative / sexual health centre 😂

Just. Brilliant Grin

Greenandcabbagelooking · 15/04/2020 19:15

Thank you Bluesheep!

Have you found the tampon OP?

Gammeldragz · 15/04/2020 19:19

Hope you've found it OP? If not, your GP practice nurse should be able to help, provided they do smears (means they are trained to use a speculum and know what they are looking at). It's not uncommon, just embarrassing (practice nurse, seen one removed during training but not had to do it myself yet).

MrsBricked · 15/04/2020 19:38

I checked quite a few times and not there I think it must have come out in the night when I went for a wee half asleep

CottonSock · 15/04/2020 19:42

I managed to put two in once (pissed as a student), now that was a surprise find.

beachbreeze · 15/04/2020 21:52

A colleague told me that hers had turned sideways and high up and was there for weeks! So I'd definitely my have a good feel if I felt unsure whether one was there or not.

TerrorWig · 15/04/2020 23:05

Squat and bear down while having a rummage.

If it’s still in there you’ll know in a few days I promise you! Blush
