Potentially lost tampon - not sure what to do?

Sorry if any of this is tmi!

Had a couple of glasses wine last night. I’m normally quite heavy periods so wear towel and tampax during night. Got up this morning to change tampon and can’t find it I’ve checked twice nothing there. I’m sure I put one in but can’t remember 100%. But if I definitely didn’t then I would have expected that to be more obvious on the sanitary towel (sorry did say tmi).
Is there anything I can do to know?

I suggest a rummage in a nice warm bath. If they dry out in there, they can be challenging to pull out. The tub water helps.

Have a hot bath/ shower.

I was once in the shower washing then omg I felt it and it must've been there days & days 😱
