I realise the contents are individual, but if you've had one, did you get much fruit and veg? Trying to work out whether they'd work for us or not. Thanks

No fruit in mine but I did get peppers, onions, carrots, new potatoes and a cabbage.

WhatHaveIFound · 13/04/2020 09:08

No fruit? That's a shame. I've ordered one for my parents as it's the only delivery i could get them.

Piixxiiee · 13/04/2020 09:10

We got peppers, onions, cabbage, carrots, new potatoes, cucumber, bag of apples.
Then rice, pasta, salsa sauce, tins of soup x2, beans
Butter, cheese, long life milk
Chicken breasts , mince, ham.
Bread, pitta bread.
Toliet and kitchen roll.

georgedawes · 13/04/2020 09:13

Thanks - that's more in the box than I would've thought Pixxiiee.

Hi, May I ask how you order one of these please ?

georgedawes · 13/04/2020 09:17

Bumble - www.morrisons.com/food-boxes/

We have one arriving tomorrow. To order you type in Morrisons grocery boxes and it takes you to the right page. You don’t need to go in to a virtual queue system like the regular website.
Then you choose the box you want and pay

georgedawes · 13/04/2020 09:20

Let us know what is in it girls

I got a cabbage, carrots, onions and potatoes.

No fruit unfortunately. A bag of apples or bananas would have been nice.

Overall though I was very pleased with the contents of the box and the value.

Delivery was very efficient too. I got a text at about 8.30am saying it would be delivered between 9.30am and 10.30am. By 9.40am it was on my doorstep.

Lindy2 · 13/04/2020 09:24

Oh and a cucumber. I forgot that.

My box matched Piixxiiee's except I got some nice sausages rather than the peppers and apples she has listed.

georgedawes · 13/04/2020 09:25

Seems pretty good value!

My parents have had a M & S one and I had a Morrisons one.

Morrisons do different types but in the meat eater box
1l cravendale
80 teabags
Small pack granulated sugar
8 x Sausages
Back bacon
500 g chicken breast
Basmati microwave rice
Pasta
Spag bol sauce
Onions
Carrots
New potatos
Cabbage

So very useful for a small family or single person plenty of meal options, no good if you are a larger family.

M&S was more like a Christmas hamper, lots of odds and sods you couldn't make a meal from, treats etc like chocolate but not an 'essentials' box.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 13/04/2020 09:32

Also Morrisons release more slots during the day so it's worth checking back on the site if origi ally there weren't any available.

AlphaIndigo · 13/04/2020 09:34

I'd say they are better for an overall broad range of items than fruit and veg. We didn't get any fruit but has some ok veg in ours.
There is a thread in AIBU and if you go to the later pages people have posted pics and lists of their contents.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 13/04/2020 09:35

Oops I forgot,

My Morrisons box also had
4 x toilet roll
Butter
Cheese
Kitchen roll
Ham
Bread
Pitta bread
3 x small Heinz beans
2 x tons of soup

So basically the same as piixiie

WashYourFins · 13/04/2020 09:36

I got one for my grandad and he was very pleased with it, it seemed good value for what he got, and he said it had been well thought through - I ordered the meat box, and there was fresh veg in it for sure, but I can't remember if there was fresh fruit.

Things I can remember (and I can't remember it all):
Bacon, sausages, chicken breasts, can of stewing steak, ham, potatoes, carrots, onions, peppers, cans of soup, can of beans, packet of biscuits, milk, bread, butter/spread, toilet roll, pasta, pasta sauce.

Teacup34 · 13/04/2020 09:37

I have to say I was very disappointed with mine if I had spent £30 on what I got i would of been having a sharp word with myself! But if you can't get to the shops it's better than nothing.

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/04/2020 09:37

This was ours.

Has anyone had the vegetarian box?i am debating whether to try one.

Splodgetastic · 13/04/2020 09:42

I didn’t realise M&S did deliveries.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 13/04/2020 09:42

Indeed its for those who can't get to the shops.

The other option here is there are several fruot and veg box deliveries - more market prices than Riverford. We paid £30 for a "large" locally and had so much, and of such good quality. They also did small and medium. Honestly the best thing we've found.

Our local council has produced a list of places that are deliverinn locally or there is a helpline. Def worth looking for your local equivalent as our county has various people delivering fruit and veg so it would be covered. They weren't easy to find though, facebook once you knew the name, but I ordered and paid and had a box on my door within 2 days!

Some of the places that deliver to catering people are also delivering to houses.

It is worth investiagting as local options seem to have sussed deliveries.

Glenthebattleostrich · 13/04/2020 09:44

My mum was very happy with hers. They got

Milk
Butter
Cheese
Sausages
Bacon
Mince
Chicken
Ham
Rice
Pasta
Beans
Soup
Turnip
Potato
Carrots
Loo roll
Kitchen roll
Bread

She was especially pleased as apparently both my dad and the dog have missed their bacon sandwiches.

We ordered my mother in law the ready meals one and she's very happy with that too. She doesn't cook and has 2nd stage dementia so we know she's eating at least 1 halfway decent meal per day at least.

Delivery was very good and everyone is very happy with their boxes.

I wasn't impressed with the M&S ones, my husband's aunt had one and she says it wasn't worth it at all.

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/04/2020 09:48

I did Gruffalosgrandma, pic above your post.

Veggie sausages, burgers, cocktail sausages, mince, cottage cheese. The sausages were grim but DH who eats meat loved them! The mince was excellent, cocktail sausages were okay covered in honey and mustard and we froze the burgers. It’s a lot of food.

We got cucumber, onions, carrots, cabbage (DH made a massive coleslaw!) and potatoes.

Piixxiiee · 13/04/2020 10:40

Oh yeah we got bacon too and sausages
