Myers–Briggs personality test

Rejuvenate20 · 09/04/2020 11:06

Has anyone ever done the Myers–Briggs personality test? If so, how accurate was the result? Did anything surprise you?

I did the test and the result was INFJ. What was more interesting was finding out my shadow personality - ESTP. After doing the test, it felt like I got a better understanding of myself.

I’m ENTJ and have also done a similar test at work which had different names but similar descriptions. I’m the only one in my department and there’s an awful lot of negativity sent my way. I don’t care, but that may be due to the personality type. I found reading the weaknesses really interesting.

wheresmymojo · 09/04/2020 22:36

I'm also an ENTJ (I think it's the 'Director' or something similar.

I've done the 'real' test and the free online version several times and always come out as the same.

I do think it's fairly accurate for me.

wheresmymojo · 09/04/2020 22:37

Just looked it up again...ENTJ is the 'Commander'

BabbleBee · 09/04/2020 22:38

Advocate INFJ which is what I consistently get. Although it’s now INFJ-T which I haven’t seen before.

RJnomore1 · 09/04/2020 22:42

I’m always INTJ.

I do get frustrated that other people can’t seem to grasp the big picture quickly. I think it’s pretty accurate for me and my work style.

Best session ever was talking about how you learn to flex from your natural preferences though.

Playmistyforme66 · 09/04/2020 22:44

I'm an INFP which is pretty accurate.

RNBrie · 09/04/2020 22:44

I'm INFJ too. Female, working in IT. Guy running the course told me I was only the second INFJ he had ever met and kept staring at me like I was Jesus. It was weird.

MrsSchadenfreude · 09/04/2020 22:45

INTP here.

Tahitiitsamagicalplace · 09/04/2020 22:48

INFP - assertive here.

CollaborativeBee · 09/04/2020 22:50

I like it and the weaknesses of my 'type' were the things I struggled with. The strengths are my strengths and the suggested jobs, well, I do one of them and I like it.

I agree that the big five test is very good.

didireallysaythat · 09/04/2020 23:02

I first did my Myers Briggs when I was 16 and I've probably done it half a dozen times since then (I'm 49 now) - my dominant features stay the same but my marginal traits sometimes flip. Knowing what DH is helped me, and knowing what my line reportees are helps me too.

When I was 16 I worked in an office scoring them for participants on management courses. I remember one course where all the male participants were the same type, and the only two women on the course were exactly the same EXCEPT they were E instead of I..

SignOnTheWindow · 09/04/2020 23:04

INFP-T here, which is spookily accurate. Even down to the careers and skills mentioned.

MobLife · 09/04/2020 23:09

I'm an ENTJ....tend to keep it to myself tbh! I attended a professional course where we did the Myers Briggs profile testing-group of 30 and I was the only ENTJ-you could almost see people backing away from me 😆

nokia3210567 · 09/04/2020 23:15

I have always come out as ENFP. First did the test 15 years ago!

jjesquire · 09/04/2020 23:18

@MrsSchadenfreude I'm INTP too

Have taken the free online test a few times and did MB through work and I always get the same result. Reckon it's pretty accurate for me but will be interesting to see if it changes over the years

Jellykat · 09/04/2020 23:35

I'm ISFJ and i'd say its weirdly spot on!

Maggie90 · 09/04/2020 23:39

I got ENFP a couple of times.

Found it a very accurate description of myself. Obviously it is just an overview But felt like it helped understanding myself more.

Tolleshunt · 09/04/2020 23:46

Another ENFP here. I note there are a few on the thread! I’m only slightly into E, so find I veer a bit into INFP in some ways too.

Myers-Briggs tends to be pooh-poohed by psychologists as being unscientific (I reckon this is partly to do with it having been developed by two ‘housewives’ instead of more worthy psychologists Hmm), but in my experience people tend to find it much more interesting and relatable than the Big Five or Hexaco.

@greenemerald
Thank you for the link.

I'm a defender!

Fithles · 10/04/2020 00:21

I'm ENTJ. I'm definitely marmite.

In my work environment I don't look like a Commander/Field Marshall/ other name they give it. I'm 5'2, blonde, northern, 8.5st. Grin

Toomuchgoingon · 10/04/2020 00:35

I'm an ISTJ. Was sceptical to begin with but it got me spot on

Busymummy16 · 10/04/2020 00:39

Another INFJ here 😂😂

DiscordandRhyme · 10/04/2020 00:41

You made the opening post like a true INFJ.

I've always been an NF but I have been ENFP/INFP and INFJ as my numbers are very close percentage wise.

It's very interesting.

Liddell · 10/04/2020 00:49

I am ISFJ and I think it is very accurate. Defender.

I've done the test a few times and the result is always the same.

I was a nurse, which fits the profile.

Mrstwiddle · 10/04/2020 01:27

INFP - I think it’s pretty accurate
