Myers–Briggs personality test

Rejuvenate20 · 09/04/2020 11:06

Has anyone ever done the Myers–Briggs personality test? If so, how accurate was the result? Did anything surprise you?

I did the test and the result was INFJ. What was more interesting was finding out my shadow personality - ESTP. After doing the test, it felt like I got a better understanding of myself.

I've done the 16 personalities test a few times and always get INTP which I find mostly accurate. DH is ISFJ which is pretty spot on, he's definitely a 'defender'!

Tessaraqt · 09/04/2020 16:12

I did this a while back and got ESFJ/ Consul. It was so so accurate on so many parts of my personality/relationships etc. Found it really interesting.

haverhill · 09/04/2020 16:14

I was an INFP for years and changed recently to ISFP ‘the Adventurer’.
I suspect it’s the greater confidence of age plus having lost some precious people in the last few years has made me more ‘seize the day’.
I find it fairly accurate and certainly pinpoints primary motivations.

Serendipity79 · 09/04/2020 16:29

ISFJ - have been this every time I've done it over the past 5-6 years!

Juanmorebeer · 09/04/2020 16:31

I always come out as ENTP which I think is pretty accurate but DH is the same type so apparently we shouldn't get on.

I think there is something in it but wouldn't trust it for anything majorly important

DramaAlpaca · 09/04/2020 16:37

Placemarking to look this up later.

FenellaMaxwell · 09/04/2020 16:51

ISFJ. I’ve done it several times and never had the same one twice but this really does sound like me, actually!

Chrisinthemorning · 09/04/2020 16:53

ESFJ
I always get the same when I do this and it does describe me.

MeganChips · 09/04/2020 17:12

I’ve done this a few times and always come out as ENFJ.

It’s pretty accurate although I don’t think as quite as altruistic as the description suggests.

This chat is confirming a theory I've had for a long time...the only people who care about MB personality tests are INFJs

We're apparently the rarest of the types (like 3percent)...yet there's about 10 of us on here chatting about it!

This, absolutely. I've had test done profesionally twice, ten years apart, both times INFJ. It's always other INFJs on the thread or INTJs. Also work in IT, and there are a fair few INTJ women, so that makes sense.

I really hate people knowing what I am though. Feel a bit exposed. It's ok on an anonymous forum but hate it in the office! I always change the subject if it comes up.

AJTracey · 09/04/2020 17:29

I got INFJ too!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 09/04/2020 17:30

I'm ESTJ and it's pretty accurate. I always get the same result when I do it.

shinynewapple2020 · 09/04/2020 17:44

Well I've just done this from the online link - it's come
Back as ISFP - adventurer - just read through 'my' strengths and weaknesses and None of this is me!!

I've done this before at work and I certainly didn't come up with this!

dkanin · 09/04/2020 17:53

There are a few INTJs here considering they're supposed to be rare! Perhaps it goes with the personality type to prefer to lurk at home and talk to people online about problem solving 😂

OverMy · 09/04/2020 18:04

I feel called out. Grin

bluebeck · 09/04/2020 18:41

I have done it several times and always come out as ENFJ - The Giver, which is apparently one of the more unusual ones. Only 2% of the population.

I think it's very accurate. Halo

MiaowMix · 09/04/2020 18:53

ENFP here. It's fascinating.

1FootInTheRave · 09/04/2020 18:55

Can't remember what my myers briggs was.

We did a different one a bit ago and I was an 'altruist'. Must have caught me on a good day 😆

lljkk · 09/04/2020 18:58

I come out as different each time, too

Shannith · 09/04/2020 19:02

ENTJ pretty much my work persona. Not like me at all in real life.

WhereIsTheSaladDoris · 09/04/2020 19:24

I love personality tests and agree with others that they’re insightful but shouldn’t be ‘fixed’

I’m ENFJ (or “Protagonist” on 16 Personalities) which is me to a tee!

I quite like 16 personalities as it goes into more detail by adding an extra dimension - Identity which underpins all others areas (Mind, Energy, Nature, Tactics) showing how confident we are in our abilities and decisions.

‘turbulent’ or ‘assertive’ traits that we all possess.

AnnaNimmity · 09/04/2020 19:35

I always come up as an ENFP. which is me to a tee. Finally in the job I should be.

I'm not a particularly gregarious E, but get my energy from other people.

I'm finding Lockdown excruciating!

thecatsthecats · 09/04/2020 20:25

Always interests me that loads of INTJs appear when Myers Briggs appears despite female INTJ is one of rarest ones!

When I tested INTJ, I read that INTJ women are rare, but are usually pretty happy to be in their unique little group. I think we see "Myers Briggs", and go, "Ooh, yes, that test that tells me I'm special" Grin.

OverMy · 09/04/2020 21:01

Grin. That test that proves we are what we are and can be found online. Or in IT departments.

DanceMonkey19 · 09/04/2020 21:33

ISFP here, anyone else?
