Apart from trampoline, what has been your best outdoor toy purchase?

Kids are 5 and 7. Adore their trampoline but what else can I get them for the garden?

Swings

RightOnTheEdge · 08/04/2020 20:49

A swing set. We got it when the dc were small and they are 7 and 9 now and it still gets used a lot.

Bubble machine, swings, jumbo chalks and bat and ball game are the main things getting used in our garden at the minute. Also two unused wheelie bins that were accidentally delivered by the council Hmm

We have a pop up football net (Asda) and pop up tennis net/rackets (Decathlon). We didn't want a football net up all the time, so a one that we can put up as and when suits us best.

He also loves football cones/markers to lay out in the garden and a tin can alley set with beanbags.

Oh also what we loved above all when I was a kid was one of those garden sprinklers that switches sides every so often, great fun for running through and jumping over on a hot day (as long as no hosepipe bans!).

We got a stomp rocket recently that was a great hit and cheap too. Hula hoops are good too

Stompythedinosaur · 11/04/2020 13:54

Swings and a slide built into an incline are the most favoured things after the trampoline. The mud kitchen still gets a fair bit of use (dc are now 7 and 8 - they are more often making a beauty potion now) and a large fairy garden gets used for small world play.

Other than that, frisbees and twirling ribbons are good too.

Stompythedinosaur · 11/04/2020 13:56

One more thing - last summer we made Quidditch hoops by gaffer taping hula hoops on to pieces of wood cut to different sides. They were very popular. Might have to remake them!

minipie · 11/04/2020 18:43

Stompy is the fairy garden something you bought, or made? If bought do you remember where? My DDs would love that.

VerbenaGirl · 11/04/2020 18:45

Mud kitchen.

Ginfordinner · 11/04/2020 18:47

Another vote for swingball. I bought it for DD's 7th birthday. She will be 20 this year, and it still gets used.

SilverOtter · 11/04/2020 18:49

A slip'n'slide - dirt cheap and hours of fun!Grin

HarrySnotter · 11/04/2020 18:50

Pop up badminton set. Bloody brilliant thing and all tidies away into the base of the net. Love it.

FromTheAllotment · 11/04/2020 18:53

Chalk
Slide
Sandpit with a load of animals in it
Paddling pool

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 11/04/2020 18:54

Was going to say swingball, but about a million posters beat me to it!

We have sore arms though.

SpeedofaSloth · 11/04/2020 18:57

Playhouse. My youngest has just outgrown her Little Tikes playhouse and we are going to put up a summerhouse for her birthday, if we can get one by then (summer).

NigelCrab · 11/04/2020 19:02

Hammock!

mumonthehill · 11/04/2020 19:07

Defo swingball!!! Saw one in Morrisons and literally jumped for joy, I looked like a mad woman. It has however kept 2 teenage dc happy for hours!!!

CrotchetyQuaver · 11/04/2020 19:10

A TP metal climbing frame, with a tent thing at the top, plus swings, slide and a 2 man swing toy. It cost £££ but never fell apart, l lasted years and they played on it a lot. They loved the tent thing at the top and spent hours up there spying on the neighbours probably.

AuditAngel · 11/04/2020 19:11

A drone, badminton set (doubles as a tennis net too), pogo stick, dog nerf (fires a tennis ball for dog to retrieve -best thing ever)

Napssavelives · 11/04/2020 19:14

I can’t find swingball in stock anywhere, it’s Clearly popular!

MummaGiles · 11/04/2020 19:18

Football goal, mini hurdles, cones, bean bags and obviously a football to replicate football training at home
