I'm bored. I'm sure I am not the only one. Can anyone give me an interesting story to read about? Conspiracy theories welcome!

Read about Anna Delvey, the New York conwoman. Fascinating stuff, and all over the internet.

Smellbellina · 07/04/2020 23:32

Ooh I would like one of this too!

Somewhere to start...?

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 07/04/2020 23:36

Theres a podcst about anna delvey.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 07/04/2020 23:38

The social psychology course on coursera was good I thought. Includes original footage of the stanford prison experiment and loads about Milgram.

Fictional ... or is it?

lubeybooby · 08/04/2020 06:21

Taman Shud / Somerton Man

Judgybitch · 08/04/2020 06:49

If you don't know about tedtalks, go watch tedtalks. Free lectures on fascinating subjects. Social, art, technology. Etc

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Maura_Murray Maura Murray - the rabbit hole to end all rabbit holes. Lots of great pod casts too. Crime junkie does her very well.

TheWitchCirce · 08/04/2020 06:55

Not so much a rabbit hole - but the Elizabeth Holmes case is fascinating. Greed, ambition, narcissism, charisma... a modern day Emperor's new clothes

Isdal woman. There’s loads online including a podcast that was made by BBC World Service and one of the Norwegian broadcasters in cooperation with each other.

The Maura Murray one is possibly the most baffling mystery I’ve ever read @TheWitchCirce . It’s also fascinating but it feels wrong to say that about a misper case.

I had to try to stop thinking about it in the end. So sad, and creepy and apparently unsolvable. So much about it seems contradictory. Poor Maura.

There’s also the D B Cooper incident OP, if you have never heard of that before.

CrusoePoll · 08/04/2020 07:07

Maura Murray - definitely a real rabbit hole.
Ben McDaniel is an interesting case.
Also Jennifer Kesse - there is a good podcast series about her called Unconckuded.

TheWitchCirce · 08/04/2020 07:47

I'm loving this thread - some I haven't heard of to go and explore. I'll throw in Bryce Laspisa - again Crime Junkie and (I think) Red Handed podcasts are a good introduction

TheWitchCirce · 08/04/2020 07:50

@ariettyJones. I'd never heard of D B Cooper - looks astonishing.

InFiveMins · 08/04/2020 07:51

I frequently go down the rabbit hole reading about these fascinating disappearance cases:

Amy Lynn Bradley

Asha Degree

Andrew Gosden

TheWitchCirce · 08/04/2020 07:53

@CrusoePoll. I had forgotten about Ben McDaniel. There is also the Brilliant Down the Hill podcast but I struggle with that one because we know what happened to Abby and Libby and it's unbearable. But who the hell spoke those words???

BikeRunSki · 08/04/2020 07:53

Google “urban exploration”
I’m also fascinated by the case of Neil Dovestone.

TheWitchCirce · 08/04/2020 07:56

ooh ooh and Elisa Lam en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Elisa_Lam with that creepy videocoolinterestingstuff.com/the-mysterious-case-of-elisa-lam

dayswithaY · 08/04/2020 08:09

Jonbenet Ramsey and The West Memphis Three, you will lose hours on these. I second Asha Degree - her case is tragic and baffling.

iHateJanuary2020 · 08/04/2020 08:22

I second BikeSkiRun recommending Urban Exploration /Urbex. Discovered it sort of accidentally last year, favourite type of rabbit hole to fall down now.

iHateJanuary2020 · 08/04/2020 08:24

Also, Isdal Woman is fantastic.

TheWitchCirce · 08/04/2020 08:24

Oh yes Asha Degree 💔

TheWitchCirce · 08/04/2020 08:28

@InFiveMins. Is Amy Lynn the young woman on the cruise ship? If nothing else put me off going on a cruise - that case did.

I think I've finally found my MN tribe 😂

bettythedevilyouknow · 08/04/2020 08:30

Not quite as gritty as above but The Elle Beau blog/anti MLM coalition is a fascinating read and I definitely lost about three hours to it

CrusoePoll · 08/04/2020 14:16

What happened to Annie? Is a very interesting podcast.
