I'm bored. I'm sure I am not the only one. Can anyone give me an interesting story to read about? Conspiracy theories welcome!

PeepeeDarling · 08/04/2020 17:08

Alicia Estelle head 9/11

Elevator game

FindaPenny · 08/04/2020 17:11

Johnny Gosch... Unbelievably twisted and strange... Especially the Whitehouse part!!

lookingformybrain · 08/04/2020 17:44

Lindsay Buziak- A young real estate agent who was murdered in Canada pretty recently.

What the hell happened to her? Who killed her and why was there no evidence left at the scene?

lookingformybrain · 08/04/2020 17:45

If you want a good podcast, I recommend Crime Junkie.

LuluBellaBlue · 08/04/2020 17:58

5G and Coronavirus!

InFiveMins · 08/04/2020 18:46

@TheWitchCirce yes that's the one - I find it fascinating - you should google the photo of "jaz" as there are many people who believe it is her after she was allegedly sold into the sex trade....

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 08/04/2020 19:32

The papin sisters. Pretty disturbing really.

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 08/04/2020 19:37

Not a mystery though.

soloula · 08/04/2020 19:43

Ooh this thread is just what I need! Love a good rabbit hole to fall down Grin

ArriettyJones · 08/04/2020 19:43

@ariettyJones. I'd never heard of D B Cooper - looks astonishing.

It’s a weird one alright.

While Mad Men was still in production, there was some speculation that Don Draper would end up being D B Cooper, making the whole series a fictional backstory to the mystery.

I was quite disappointed it turned out differently.

I quit enjoy good old google street viewing random places in the world. Like the border towns along the US / Mexico border. And Detroit because the deterioration is fascinating. Middle Eastern cities too.

Time40 · 08/04/2020 19:51

The OP said "stories", so Urbex doesn't really fit ... but my first thought for a rabbit hole was Urbex, so I third that one (and a really fabulous rabbit hole it is too).

Doingtheboxerbeat · 08/04/2020 20:28

I have just took a wee tour around Central Park, Rockefella Plaza and Wall Street via Google Street View. I always have a little nosey around the street that first appears, this time it was a random place in Albania.
Good times.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 08/04/2020 20:34

@justsotiredtired, I usually love to do tours around trouble spots or places I would never wish to visit. I first did this to prove that without a good welfare state - this is what happens - I took my colleagues on a trip down Skid Row 😂.

Anything to keep me occupied! Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I'll look them all up.

Ooh yes I've "been" to skid row and it's definitely somewhere I'd prefer to visit virtually 😝

SwerfandTurf · 09/04/2020 12:48

I’ve starting listening to the Dirty John podcast, which is fascinating.

I also went down a rabbit hole with this extensive write-up (link is to part 1 of 2) of the Asha Degree disappearance which is truly baffling.

Pannacottaformeplease · 09/04/2020 19:24

Can any of the people who recommended urbex on here please post some links as I'm really interested in this - particularly of any very old places.

Eucalyptusleaves · 09/04/2020 23:58

I have lost about 5 hours to this thread! Been fascinating though so keep it coming!

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 10/04/2020 00:00

Reddit is great for this kind of thing. Found out about this one the other day en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyatlov_Pass_incident

I love Urbex. There are lots of different presenters. Many of whom can come across as very amateur in terms of their presentation style, even irritating. But the best are those who may not be architectural historians, or the smoothest talkers but have good film and editing skills in addition to finding very interesting locations.

I follow:
Freaktography - a Canadian, based in Ontario, once you get past the "wattsup guys" everytime he passes a mirror, really interesting explorations.
Abandoned World Explorer - excellent film and editing. UK based mainly, though been over to Belgium and France recently and these recent explorations are fantastic and my favourites.
Bros of Decay - thinks these guys are from Belguim themselves, really interesting chateau visits.

All three here are very careful and have respect for the properties they explore.

I subscribe to all three and getting notifications from any of them at the moment is a real highlight. I expect this will dry up as they can't get out and about. However if you are just starting, you've hours of entertainment ahead of you!
