Water
I’d love to see a stage version of Oklahoma.
Watch the 1950s movie every couple of years, usually around this time, not sure why, but much as I love it, I can’t help noticing the backdrop. And the dream sequence goes on too long.

Comefromaway · 07/04/2020 10:20

The 1998 National Theatre version of Oklahoma was streaming on Broadway HD last weekend I think it’s available on DVD. I’ve seen it on TV a couple of times.

Musicalmistress · 07/04/2020 10:57

You will be found from Dear Evan Hansen, seems a bit creepy but it's not really

Comefromaway · 07/04/2020 10:59

We saw Dear Evan Hansen over Christmas. Fantastic show.

I’m missing theatre so much.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 07/04/2020 12:38

Comefromaway
Thanks for that

I have found my people Smile

I did think of starting a similar thread recently but didn't as I worried it might be insensitive to those who are worried about their jobs, homes etc. It goes without saying that my heart goes out to them and every one affected by COVID-19.

However, I do think (if possible) it is good to have things to look forward to and (apart from my DC and DPup) theatre is the the love of my love, musicals especially.

I was really looking forward to seeing '101 Dalmations' at the Regents Park Open Air Theatre this summer but it has been postponed to next summer. I was meant to be going with my older son to see 'Be More Chill' last week at The Other Palace and obviously that was cancelled. I had booked to see 'To Kill A Mockingbird' at the Gielgud in July but I bet that will be cancelled/postponed too.

I have been 'making do' with online streaming which is great but it's not the same. However it will have to suffice until the 'curtains are open again'.

I'm Still Here! What a song!
If you've not seen Follies, you must!

StatementKnickers · 07/04/2020 19:45

Just checking everyone's aware of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Youtube channel "The Shows Must Go On" ?

Showing Jesus Christ Superstar with Tim Minchin and Mel C this Easter weekend!

bruffin · 07/04/2020 21:24

I hope the put on the Follies production they filmed. Iwent to the practice filming before they broadcast it to the cinema live.

I'm defying gravity myself

I’ve been defying gravity since oct/nov so a bit over it now. Mostly moved on to Matilda.

Discovered magic at the musicals a few weeks a go will give encore a go as well.

PersonaNonGarter · 07/04/2020 23:10

People of the shows, so excited to have found you all. Are we Broadway Babies?

Didn’t know about Magic at the Musicals. I will google.

Loved Mansplaingo and very looking forward to JCS.

hotsouple · 07/04/2020 23:52

Always listening and laughing to A Little Night Music

Collision · 08/04/2020 22:22

Absolutely loved Come from Away and Six.

Poor ds15 has had 6 shows cancelled.

I’ve told him we will definitely rebook.

BornfreebutinCovidChains · 08/04/2020 22:43

Can anyone tell me how to access the u tube Andrew Lloyd webber please. Apparently the bolshoi is showing the nutcracker this week and when I went to u tube I couldn't find anything...

Collision · 08/04/2020 22:45

Look up Bolshoi on YouTube and it says Nutcracker is premiering on Friday.

You can set a reminder

PorpentinaScamander · 08/04/2020 22:53

Love a musical here. We watch into the woods a lot. My children know all the words to all the songs. Even the ones which are so quick I can't read the lyrics in time Grin

For those who are feeling a bit Miss Hannigan...

We were due to see Evan Hanson in March the day after the theatres closed 😢

I thought I loved all musicals (Chess and Starlight in the olden days, now Hamilton and Six) but we watched Rent on YouTube for the first time the other day and didn’t like it...

Dontwanttobeyourmonkeywench · 08/04/2020 23:03

DD has been playing Beetlejuice the musical and Heather's on a loop. I've found myself singing 'Hi, I'll be your g.u.i.d.e to the other side' everytime I open the door for the dog.

I was having a Mr. Cellophane kind of day today. I was surplus to DDs plans with DS 🤔

Tiredandold1 · 08/04/2020 23:03

Isleepinahedgefund

I thought it was ‘I am a walking work of art’?!

Comefromaway · 09/04/2020 00:34

I guess singing the whole being dead thing is rather apt monkey wrench. So sad the show has now officially closed with no proper last night. Hope it comes to the UK.

Dd is currently trying to find out whether Playbill’s streaming of Bandstand will work in the UK.

bruffin · 09/04/2020 10:34

The advantage of Encore over Magic at the Musicals is there are no presenters and no adverts, just the odd snippit of interviews. Disadvantage is that they dont tell what the song is but I just use my phone to listen and google and it tells me what the song is
