Did anyone see Chess at the Coliseum Michael Ball singing Anthem was amazing. Was supposed to be going to opening night of Hairspray there with MB again, but tickets moved to September

PiggyPlumPie · 06/04/2020 22:07

Watched Joseph on Saturday followed by Into The Woods.

As I'm in the shielded group I think there will be a lot of musicals going on in my house over the next few months!

PiggyPlumPie · 06/04/2020 22:08

bruffin didn't see it at the Coliseum but Michael sang Anthem at Proms in the Park and it was bloody brilliant. I waved my flags and sang my heart out.

I think Chess has to be one of my favourite soundtracks.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 06/04/2020 22:17

I like
Good mornin’, good mornin’, we’ve danced the whole night through...
(or whatever the song’s properly called) from Singin’ In The Rain.

Remember when it was used in a TV ad for Kellog’s Cornflakes in the 60s or early 70s Smile

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 06/04/2020 22:26

.... and does anyone else wish they’d remake Oklahoma with the same songs and general storyline but much better set/scenery and not so cringeworthy...?

Willow2017 · 06/04/2020 22:34

I have been singing 'There's a light' from Rocky Horror since i listened to the soundtrack while stripping wall paper the other day😄
Also been bopping around to songs from 'Joseph' since watching it. (Ds2 has been giving me pitying looks😄😄) 'Those Canaan Days' is quite appropriate😉

Whattodo121 · 06/04/2020 22:40

@bruffin I saw chess at the coliseum! Loved it! Chess is one of my favourite shows-bloody hard to play though 😅

LinManWellWellWell · 06/04/2020 22:43

I’ve had ‘go home Alexander - that’s an order from your commander - GO HOME’ running round my head. For obvious reasons!

Comefromaway · 06/04/2020 22:45

Who lives, who dies, who tells your story? 😥

cravingthelook · 06/04/2020 22:47

I'm defying gravity myself

LinManWellWellWell · 06/04/2020 22:49

@Comefromaway 😭 ‘we have no control...’ I definitely feel that right now!

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 06/04/2020 22:49

Starlight Express, answer me yes. Are you real, yes or no...?

GoldenPoppy · 06/04/2020 22:52

I've been a bit down today about the whole lockdown covid situation, Totally Fucked from Spring Awakening has been my sing of choice.
I was meant to be at back to the future last saturday, Ive also had Phantom cancelled and thonk that Jamie and Once will also be cancelled in June.
On the bright side I managed to get good seats for the rescheduled Secret Garden concert in November, hopefully that will go ahead.

GoldenPoppy · 06/04/2020 23:05

@notacooldad

I love Hedwig! We flew to New York when John Cameron mitchell was on Broadway.
Perfect performance, it was just after his leg injury so the choreography had been simplified a lot but it really didn't matter at all.
The couple who sat next to me had no idea what they had booked and looked a little Shock throughout the first half!

Isleepinahedgefund · 06/04/2020 23:28

Been listening to the Little Mermaid NY cast recording a lot. Saw it in 2008 on broadway and loved it.

We’ve also had a nice bit of Wicked on, little shop of horrors, hairspray, hello dolly...

Kind of wish I hadn’t let DD watch Joseph on Saturday - every time she goes to the toilet she’s singing “I closed my eeeeeyyyyess.....” of “I look handsome, I look smart, I am a working work of art...”

RoseMartha · 07/04/2020 07:06

I have just realised i am singing in my head. 'Somewhere over the rainbow.'

WaterIsWide · 07/04/2020 08:59

Starlight Express -

I'm not a hopper I'm a big box. Yeah, your head is full of rocks. (Go Richard Stilgoe)

Remake Oklahoma ! ? Nope. Saw it on stage a few years ago. Peter Polycarpou (Pauline Quirke's husband on Birds of a Feather) was the pedlar man. Maureen Lipman was the old lady, she played it really well. 'Pick that fiddle to pieces'

The actor that played the stooge who buys random stuff from the pedlar man was great. I have had a crush on Shuler Hensley who played Jud Fry since that day.

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 07/04/2020 09:29

I wanna be a dancing man, while I can
I wanna leave my footsteps in the sands of time..

DuckyMcDuck · 07/04/2020 09:33

My people....

Just had the refund for our tickets for Evita at the Barbican in July Sad I saw it In Regents Park last summer and it was amazing.

The Book of Mormon cancelled too.

Can't wait for JCS this week.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 07/04/2020 09:36

I watched Joseph at the weekend, I found out yesterday that Rent is available free as well.

Gingernaut · 07/04/2020 09:41

There's gotta be something better than this - Sweet Charity

It's All the Same - Man of La Mancha

and both the original version of the Cell Block Tango from Chicago and the from Tiny Muscles.
