...to the things you really love, except for when you don't? My examples:

  • I love coffee...except when I think someone's likely to offer me instant. Then I'll ask for tea.
  • I love white wine...except when it's cold and wet. Then I want red.
  • I love swimming...except when the water's really cold, then you haven't a hope of getting me in.

Let's try to keep it light please!!

Profiteroles - Lovely when fresh but I hate 'chewy' ones. Always a puny whether to go for them in a restaurant.

TeenPlusTwenties · 05/04/2020 19:50

punt not puny.

Bluewavescrashing · 05/04/2020 19:51

Scrambled egg, but only if it's hot, made with butter and scrambled properly with no big white chunks.

I'm not high maintenance apart from that Blush

HistoryHeroes · 05/04/2020 19:52

Mushrooms, except when they're slimy and overcooked.

FlibbertyGiblets · 05/04/2020 19:54

Swimming in the Med, yes please. Municipal pool, I'll pass.

Homemade cakes, yes please.
Your kid made it? Pass (I do this very tactfully and carefully so to not upset the kiddo)

Clevererthanyou · 05/04/2020 19:57

Sandwiches - except when made with margarine and bread that’s older than 2 days. I’m really honestly not high maintenance apart from this 😁

bellabelly · 05/04/2020 20:08

Fried egg but only if the yolk is lovely and runny, not solid. And if any of the white is undercooked and jelly like, then I can't eat it.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/04/2020 20:12

With you on both of the last two! Can't abide margarine or improperly cooked eggs!

Oh, I've thought of another one - bacon...but only if it's crispy. Can't eat it with squidgy fat.

@GreebolsMySpiritAnimal I've just spent a good few minutes trying to work out how you couldn't like cold, wet wine! 🙈

rockingaroundthemulberrybush · 05/04/2020 20:18

Yes to crispy bacon proper butter and properly scrambled eggs (I like mine done with a wooden spoon).

Mine is yes please to a cup of tea unless we are going outside to the garden. I hate drinking hot drinks outside! My car is ok though (its like inside)

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/04/2020 20:19

GrinGrinGrin

I possibly should have specified when the weather's cold and wet!!

TerrifiedandWorried · 05/04/2020 20:20

Bacon sarnie? Yes please if you grill the bacon but if you fry it no thanks.

StealthPolarBear · 05/04/2020 20:21

Coffee, except when it's one of those pods. I prefer instant, like filter, can cope with espresso + water but don't see the point. But those pods are vile.

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/04/2020 20:22

I love cheese, but not cheap mild supermarket crap.

73Sunglasslover · 05/04/2020 20:25

Diet coke but only in small bottles and only if it's not been shaken (must be v.v.fizzy for me to like it).

missmouse101 · 05/04/2020 20:26

I love cake but only very fresh and moist. Dry old stuff can go to hell.

Onekidnoclue · 05/04/2020 20:29

Chocolate but only the cheap crap! Anything you can buy in a corner shop. Thornton’s is too fancy. As is green and blacks. And don’t get me started on fancy stuff with flaked of random shit that’s delis sell!

GrouchyKiwi · 05/04/2020 20:33

Cup of tea? Love one, but not on an empty stomach or I'll be sick.

Cakes, but not cakes with vegetables in. Why, world, why????

Chottie · 05/04/2020 20:35

Boiled eggs, but only if they are hard boiled
Proper scrambled eggs i.e. not chopped up omelette

Casseroles made the day before, so all the fat has solidified and been skimmed off before reheating. I hate globules of fat shining on the surface.

Fried fish, but only if I can remove and leave the batter

psychomath · 05/04/2020 20:36

GrouchyKiwi who puts vegetables in a cake??? Envy

bonnieclydesdale · 05/04/2020 20:39

Butter except when it comes out of drawer and is solid lumps which put holes in the bread.

rockingaroundthemulberrybush · 05/04/2020 20:39

Oooh yes please to an occassional fizzy drink but only in a can. No 750ml/2l bottles or pub mixers (yuck).

forrasee · 05/04/2020 20:41

@psychomath carrot cake?!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/04/2020 20:42

I believe cakes have also been made from courgette and beetroot. God knows why.
