Where shall I put black, white and grey in the rainbow?

I have reached the level of boredom where I’m about to reorder my bookshelves into rainbow order. Where would you put black, white and grey? Should I put them totally separate?

Only heathens do the rainbow bookshelf thing.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/04/2020 16:09

But if you remember books by colour not author then colour coding is how you find them.

Not everyone thinks the same way.

PaddingtonStation · 03/04/2020 16:17

chicklitlover you can’t believe people still have books?! How do you let people know that you’re well read without having to resort to bringing it up in conversation?

Jesus Christ, what have you done to all those book sleeves?! They’lol be ruined all crushed like that.

You heathen.

SoupDragon · 03/04/2020 16:30

How the hell did you wrestle your cat into a baby grow? Did you lose much skin...?

caz114 · 03/04/2020 16:37

I thought you meant a sponge cake coronavirus- think I might have food on the brain.

Love your cat

CuckooCuckooClock · 03/04/2020 16:38

I’m impressed your cat allowed that. I put a babygro on my cat and she just kept walking backwards to try to get out of it. Was a good show but seemed too cruel so I took it off.

CuckooCuckooClock · 03/04/2020 16:39

Also - no one with any taste would have their books in alphabetical order. Looks awful.

PaddingtonStation · 03/04/2020 17:05

I took all the sleeves off the books so that it would just be the covers on show which are mostly one colour. I’m regretting that now too.

I’ve never had books in alphabetical order. I generally had a poetry shelf, favourite authors and then a non-fiction shelf. All the other books were just sort of put in wherever.

The cat had been in a fight with a squirrel which is why I put him in the babygro. He was being fairly amenable as I think he was slightly in shock.

I don't care about your books but that Corona virus sponge is fabulous 😷😷

Redshoeblueshoe · 03/04/2020 17:15

I like the sponge virus too.

SnowStag · 03/04/2020 17:41

To be hoenst i think you should have a book case in every room and divide each room by spine colours.

So, your lovely drawing room would be grey and white. Your bedroom the penguin orange etc.

dining room green books etc.

Then paint the walls to match.

Then blog it.

Your are welcome.

SnowStag · 03/04/2020 17:43

Your cat is decor compliant.

I am mucho impressed.

ArlenesWoodBurningStove · 03/04/2020 17:49

Where do you put a cat’s tail when you put it in a babygro?

eddiemairswife · 03/04/2020 17:51

Some of my books are organised; my school prizes are together, poetry (hardback and paperback) on one shelf, I have an Alan Bennett section, crime fiction in the hall, reference books close at hand. One day I might attempt to count all the books in the house.

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 03/04/2020 17:51

I would go yellow into white and white into grey and either grey into black or your darkest colour into black.

emojisarentwords · 03/04/2020 17:53

Pictures please

PaddingtonStation · 03/04/2020 19:13

It looks crap. I kept finding books that were a colour I’d already done and then had to rejig the whole thing. Fucking Instagram.

Where shall I put black, white and grey in the rainbow?

I like it!

applesauce1 · 03/04/2020 19:25

Off topic, but did I spot that you have one of those globe drink cabinets?
I saw two in a local antique shop a few years ago and fell in love with them. Ultimately, I decided I couldn't justify splurging on something we didn't have space for or "need".
Not buying them is presently one of my biggest life regrets.

MitziK · 03/04/2020 19:29

I like it. But I would have done it in the order of bands representing numbers on a resistor.

0 - Black
1 - Brown
2 - Red
3 - Orange
4 - Yellow
5 - Green
6 - Blue
7 - Violet
8 - Grey
9 - White

Topping off with the multiplier bands of x 0.1 - Gold and x 0.01 - Silver

Yes, yes, I know I'm a Geek.

I'm also very jealous of that many bookcases that match and not having most of mine stolen along with all the music books for the studio by DP

AdaColeman · 03/04/2020 19:51

When Ex and I first moved in together, we had a dedicated room as a library, and I organised my many books in author alphabetical order. I was meticulous in maintaining this.
Some years later, when I was away for a short while, Ex swapped the library with the bedroom, and my books were just piled haphazardly on the shelves.
When questioned, Ex said that he had never realised the reason for the order of the books, and had never understood why any particular book was returned to a certain position on the bookshelves!
I was absolutely speechless!

SnowStag · 03/04/2020 20:05

i think it looks great!

I think we are just missing another kitty pic.

malonybalony · 03/04/2020 20:29

But rainbows are evil, OP. Having one in your house means you're a woman hating paedophile.

MondeoFan · 03/04/2020 20:39

Oooohhhh yes great idea. I'm now looking at my bookcase
