Anyone else absolutely convinced they'll win the lottery one day?

And I mean like the Euromillions jackpot.

I know the odds are 1:114million but any time I buy a ticket (not that often) I'm so utterly convinced I'm going to win that I spend the night before looking at mega mansions on Rightmove 😂

Just me that's a saddo? Dare to dream!

It’s not just you, I very much expect to win at some point and have planned exactly what I’ll do with it!

BrandoraPaithwaite · 16/04/2020 17:42

Not the lottery but PIL have started buying our DC premium bonds as gifts.

Now most days I spend time on my 10k plan, 250k plan and 2million plans. I don't even know if that's what the wins are divided up into.

CottonEaster · 16/04/2020 17:54

Me too OP. When I die the expression on my face will be like 😮 at the realisation that it never happened!

Windyatthebeach · 16/04/2020 17:58

My df won big money years ago. Pools coupon.
His dw would not let him spend any. She also pressured him to dump me and my dc.
He did.
That money didn't bring any happiness to anyone except her..
I actually stopped doing Lotto then..

Somersetlady · 18/04/2020 08:06

I occasionally do it knowing one day my numbers will come up!

I did the New Years Eve lotto this year it was €20 a ticket for Multiple chances to win a million!

Well lotto sent me an email saying i had won but they would send out the Payment by cheque as the amount was greater than they pay out on line.

I was so excited. - no mention of the Actual amount i had won in the email - planning what i would do even if it was a ‘smaller’ win of €100,000.

Cheque came for €500.

Minihaha24 · 18/04/2020 08:11

I remember when the Lottery first came out & thinking 'it can't be that difficult to win'

All these later I still live in hope, biggest win was @ £60 & that was years ago....I wonder what the feeling is like when you realise you've matched all six numbers?

BertiesLanding · 18/04/2020 08:18

It's called "magical thinking".

carolebaskinsheadband · 18/04/2020 08:25

An ex boyfriend of mine got 5 numbers and the bonus on the lottery back in the late 90s. Won nearly £200k. Got himself a nice little house mortgage free and dumped me Hmm
Funny thing though when I was single again 10 years later he was begging me to go back and I declined Grin

ProfYaffle · 18/04/2020 09:31

I know which house I'm going to buy when my ticket comes up. There was an error of some sort during the last Euro millions rollover and I missed out but I'm sure it'll come good next time.

I did get the exciting winner's e-mail a year or two ago. £3.82 iirc.

VettiyaIruken · 18/04/2020 09:40

Yes, I pay the stupid person tax as it is often referred to on here. 😂

I know I won't win but I also totally plan what I'll do with my jackpot when I win it. I don't drink, I don't smoke, so a fiver a week is my vice. I get to pretend for a while. It's a bit sad really I guess but what the hell

KTD27 · 18/04/2020 09:45

Yes. I truly totally and honestly believe I’ll win one day

OnlyToWin · 18/04/2020 09:49

Every. Single. Time.

I only buy about 3 tickets a year!

I actually think it would be quite stressful to win all of that money too!

Maryann1975 · 18/04/2020 09:59

We play by direct debit twice a week! I have great plans for my winnings. Every now and again they send me an email to say I’ve won a lucky dip, and very rarely they send an email to say there is ‘News about my ticket’ so I have to log in to the site. That minute it takes to log in is always very nervous, planning how I would finish work, what I would buy first etc. The most we’ve won is about £100.

SouthWestmom · 18/04/2020 10:56

The most I've won is £400 this year - I've had to stop myself signing up for all the draws. I can totally see how gambling is addictive.

Not sure magical thinking - wishful thinking yes!

KindnessCrusader · 18/04/2020 11:00

The first lottery ticket I ever bought when I came of age I got 4 numbers. Unfortunately so did lots of others and I won a whole £38! I am absolutely convinced I'm going to win big though. All my life plans depend on it Grin

notsureneversure · 18/04/2020 11:03

I never buy a ticket but yes, I believe I’m going to win one day.

Now that’s magical thinking Grin

It’s a fun daydream.

Zoflorabore · 18/04/2020 11:08

I was 17 in 1995 when the lottery started and I chose my numbers very carefully- including 17!

When I met dp we picked some further lines and then involved the dc by using birthdays etc. it started getting quite expensive as we were doing both Wednesday and Saturday draws.

When dd now 9 was a baby we won around £550 and loads of 3 numbers and the odd 4. When the ticket price doubled we decided to drop the Wednesday and only do Saturday which is scary as we know the numbers off my heart.

I am totally and utterly convinced I will win.
My dad jokes all the time and says that “lottery winner” is my long term career goal.

I have spent it many times in my head over the years and only recently said it would be my luck to win it during lockdown as I wouldn’t be able to spend it Grin

Wallabyone · 18/04/2020 11:39

I play two lines on the normal lotto on Wednesday and Saturday. A week or two ago, there was a rollover 'must be won' type thing, because it had rolled over so many times. So I played an extra line. One of my usual lines got three numbers and so did the extra one. Instead of the usual £30 win, it was £121, x two! I would love to win a big amount one day

FaFoutis · 18/04/2020 11:42

I'm sure that I'll win the big premium bonds prize. In the rest of my life I am a pessimist so I don't know where the certainty comes from.

ParkheadParadise · 18/04/2020 11:44

I always live in hope.
I did win £20 in the postcode lottery recently. When I received the email I did hope it was a big win. I had visions of Jeff Brazier turning up at my door with a massive cheque🤣🤣

FaFoutis · 18/04/2020 11:55

I opt to get my premium bonds winnings by post because it's nice not opening the envelope while I imagine a cheque for a huge amount inside.

Flixsfoilball · 18/04/2020 12:34

Yep, I have a plan on what I will do with it and some days I'm really sad and start Rightmove shopping for my millionaires house....

NaomiFromMilkShake · 18/04/2020 12:44

Since we cleared the mortgage, I have stopped dreaming quite so much.

But I have big plans........... HUGE ........(channels Julia Roberts)

Friends and family will have mortgages cleared and I will donate a sizeable amount to keep my beloved rugby club up and running.

Bibijayne · 27/04/2020 22:14

I have the daydream spending all mapped out :)

PrincessMaryaBolkonskaya · 27/04/2020 22:16

I very rarely buy a ticket but winning big on the lottery is the closest I have to a long term plan
