What can't you own?

It struck me today, I can't own a tart burner/oil burner because I break them. Every single one I've ever had I've dropped or kicked or accidentally smashed.

The same goes for sunglasses. I just can't safely own a pair!

Travel mugs.

I love the Contigo but I am on my 4th.

I keep losing or breaking them.

DonnaDarko · 31/03/2020 11:46

Earrings. I always lose one!

yatapina · 31/03/2020 11:48

A house - can't afford one.

Drinking glasses - we have plastic ones as DH is a clumsy bugger and claims that things just "slip" out of his hands. I hate them but gave up spending on glassware!

Megan2018 · 31/03/2020 11:49

Sunglasses here 2, have lost 2 expensive pairs. Now buy cheap ones. I have never lost my purse and yet can’t hang on to them.

I also break crystal drinking glasses, have had beautiful ones than last 2 mins yet never break the cheap glass ones Angry.

Megan2018 · 31/03/2020 11:50

*too!! No idea where 2 came from Blush

devildeepbluesea · 31/03/2020 11:51

Camera. Never managed to keep one for longer than a couple of weeks.

Frlrlrubert · 31/03/2020 11:52

Sunglasses: I just leave them somewhere withing a day of owning them. Possibly the current situation means I could have a pair for over a week?

Re-usable water bottles - they get stolen by my students!

OhMy05 · 31/03/2020 11:57

Drinking glasses, forever slipping out of my hands and shattering in the sink.

Goingfarawsy · 31/03/2020 11:57

All of the above and more. I’m the worst person for losing things / breaking things I’ve ever met.

Standrewsschool · 31/03/2020 11:57

Vegetable steamers

Dp - coffee machines

Abelino · 31/03/2020 11:58

Phone charging wires, I must have bought 100 but always have to hunt for one. My husband has a different phone brand, so it's definitely me making them disappear!

Longdistance · 31/03/2020 12:00

Sunglasses as pp, but I seem to break designer sunglasses easily. I now buy cheap ones for a few quid.

trebleclef101 · 31/03/2020 12:01

Umbrellas. I had one which, on the very first opening, turned inside out and then came off the handle and blew away down the road.

I stick to waterproof coat / trousers now.

BeetrootRocks · 31/03/2020 12:02

Umbrella. Immediately lose them.

Ponoka7 · 31/03/2020 12:03

Beautiful glasswear of any type. A full dinner set. Expensive pans, i have the most ridiculous accidents with them.
'posh' pjs, but my Primark one's stay in one piece.

ComtesseDeSpair · 31/03/2020 12:04

A nice umbrella: I will immediately lose it. I can look after a shit umbrella indefinitely, so I am resigned to only having shit umbrellas.

Ponoka7 · 31/03/2020 12:04

Decent decorating stuff, my kids borrow them and i never get them back.

Stripeyfrog · 31/03/2020 12:05

Me and DH are amazing at smashing wine glasses. I thought it was me being clumsy when I was pregnant (not sure what his excuse is?) but my youngest is 10 and we havent improved.
Nearly every christmas if family ask what we want we just say wine glasses!😂😂

Notso · 31/03/2020 12:09

High heels.
Try them in the shop, great.
Wear them round the house, perfect.
Walk from taxi to pub, pure agony.

pippistrelle · 31/03/2020 12:25

Nice glasses and crockery. All gets broken. Not by me. So now we only have sturdy Duralex glasses and I only buy plain white crockery so at least there's a semblance of matching set.

BrassicaBabe · 31/03/2020 13:46

A deep fat fryer. I'd use it and get fat!

whiteroseredrose · 31/03/2020 14:22

Home made stewed fruit eg apricots or plums. I always forget and get sticky burnt pans.

PenguinsOnParade · 31/03/2020 14:32

House plants other than orchids. Orchids absolutely thrive in my care. Everything else dies. I've even killed a bamboo plant which are meant to be impossible to kill. I have a Christmas cactus and an orchid in the house right now. The cactus looks like it may be dying. The orchid has just finished flowering and has another half a dozen buds ready to open.

BerryPieandCustard · 31/03/2020 14:33

Orchids. I love the look of them but every time I by one it dies.. longest I’ve had one is 3 months. My friend has loads and has had some for years, I’ve followed all the tips she give me but nothing. Does every single time. I’ve now given up and have 3 cacti that are doing well, just not a pretty
