So when you’ve gone to supermarket, have you been able to get all you need for a weeks meals etc ?
As everything been available?

The best shop I did was at M&S they seemed to be well stocked. Although more pricey than my usual Sainsburys shop, I got it in one shop.
The shelves in my Sainsburys which is quite a large one, literally most off the things are gone or shelves are empty.

How’s your shopping experience? And what shop ?

Yes. I've been once a week to Aldi for the past couple of weeks and the only things I couldn't get were paracetamol and flour.

JaneEyre7 · 30/03/2020 18:44

I've been getting normal deliveries from Ocado, but went into Aldi yesterday to get supplies for my elderly Dad. The fruit and veg were horrid - I can't believe they had some of it out on display as it was rotting. Meat was plentiful, as was all their junk food but the only thing I couldn't get him was toilet roll.

DD's BF's mum shops in M & S and said it was service as usual in there.

Drivemybluecar · 30/03/2020 18:48

My Tesco are well stocked. They have yet to have any tins of tomato or tinned meat. But other than that they have so much meat it is covering the ends of the aisles as well.
And toilet rolls on both side is the aisles. Not eggs though

Marmite27 · 30/03/2020 18:48

Yes at Aldi for the last two weeks.

Ted27 · 30/03/2020 18:48

It's just about normal service at our local co-OP, but I get most of my fruit and veg from the grocers and meat from the butcher both of which are business as usual. Also using the corner shop for a few odd things. There's a few things I'd like from Sainsburys but nothing essential so can do without

tiredanddangerous · 30/03/2020 18:51

Fresh stuff ok, tins and pasta/rice etc non existent. Cleaning products very thin on the ground too and still no loo roll.

Sirzy · 30/03/2020 18:53

Yes I went to ASDA last Thursday and did a full shop for two families.

EthelMayFergus · 30/03/2020 18:54

Everything apart from eggs and a whole chicken (chicken breast available), so we're managing okay. That's with a Tesco home delivery.

majesticallyawkward · 30/03/2020 18:56

My Morrison's home deliver was woeful... £130 in the basket online and less than £40 worth turned up! £15 of that was 2 packs of chicken breast.

But I did a Lidl shop and got almost everything else, the only things they didn't have were plain flour, dry pasta, cat food (they will only eat go-cat so was never getting it there) and DHs specific snack requests.

The queues are putting me off going most other places, I'll avoid waiting an hour or two just to get in a shop as much as I can!

prickledgherkins · 30/03/2020 18:58

i managed to get an ocado slot for tomorrow - I'd left the window open by mistake and when I went on they had slots all day tomorrow Shock

OxanaVorontsova · 30/03/2020 18:58

Getting milk and eggs from the milk man as usual, Tesco delivery tonight, Ocado last week, 2 chickens being dropped off tomorrow from a local farm so pretty good really. Would love to pop to M&S, will save that for when I have to go to work though so I'm not out more than necessary.

Fatted · 30/03/2020 18:59

My local Asda had everything apart from tins, so no beans, tinned vegetables or soup. Plenty of pasta and loo roll.

transformandriseup · 30/03/2020 18:59

I went to Asda this morning and got a whole weeks shopping for myself and my neighbour

catfeets · 30/03/2020 19:00

Haven't even been able to get into a supermarket recently. Tried Morrison's and Asda today and the queues were round the car park. I'm not able to stand out in the rain and snow with my baby for over an hour waiting to get in so I left both queues. I then tried Lidl (these are our only 3 supermarkets so no other options) and it was even worse.
Can't get a delivery slot or click and collect from any supermarket in my area so I'm pretty stuck.
My dad went to the ASDA yesterday and managed to find a few bits but nowhere near a full shop.

Whoareyoudududu · 30/03/2020 19:01

Yeah we’ve only been in Aldi once a week for the past three weeks running which is good for us, it’s saving us a fortune because we usually pop into other supermarkets throughout the week for crap we don’t really need.

virginpinkmartini · 30/03/2020 19:02

My partner went to Asda today, did a huge shop so we dont need to leave the house for as long as possible (I'm currently a week overdue, going to be induced soon so I want to be as careful as we can.)

The only things he couldn't get were caster sugar and plain flour. Managed to get everything else including toilet roll Shock.
He did come back with a few things we wouldnt have usually gone for, like organic eggs as opposed to standard free range, and spicy passatta instead of just straight up tomato. But I am NOT complaining. I am extremely grateful as I know so many others out there can't get the basics, or are having logistical problems even getting to a supermarket.
I think the queueing systems and maximum 2 per person are really helping with availability, though.

devildeepbluesea · 30/03/2020 19:03

Pretty much yes. I've had to substitute a few items (e.g. no mince so I got diced beef and minced it in the food mixer) but nothing I can't live without.

I'd never do online shopping anyway as I love food shopping, but I'd be even less inclined now. The lack of control over what turns up is just not acceptable to me 😁

Bookridden · 30/03/2020 19:03

Yes, I think the situation is improving now, and the supermarkets have got themselves organized.

Pyjamaface · 30/03/2020 19:04

Yes, went to Tesco on Friday and got enough to last for at least a week. Although I could probably stretch that to 2 weeks if I needed to

jcurve · 30/03/2020 19:05

Waitrose - fresh chicken and flour are really the only things out of stock in store. There is bread, eggs, pasta, tinned tomatoes, loo roll etc.

PollockBollocks · 30/03/2020 19:06

Yes we’ve done our weeks shop in Sainsbury’s.

The only thing they didn’t have was chicken :)

PilatesPeach · 30/03/2020 19:08

Yes, everything in my Tesco at 3pm today - fresh fruit & veg, meat, loo roll, dairy as lots of crisps, biscuits etc - maybe not as much of a selection of bread but still lots - only pittas missing but I had been dreading it and was actually fine.

Elouera · 30/03/2020 19:09

It seems no one can find flour at the moment!!

I went to our tesco metro today (London) and still no flour. Some toilet rolls, pasta, kitchen paper, tins and eggs being put out.

Have tried every supermarket for delivery or click/collect and nothing available- even if I drove 20mins out of London to collect!

Divebar · 30/03/2020 19:09

Got my click & collect on Thursday and I got everything apart from agave nectar and DH went and found it in store. I experienced no rationing either .... got three bags of apples for example. I’m also being offered delivery slots for this week ( as a delivery pass holder). DH has also popped into M&S food hall on his way to work and found it full with no customers.

Herpesfreesince03 · 30/03/2020 19:11

I’m finding that a lot of people aren’t willing to change their normal routines, and having massive meltdowns when they have to do something slightly different or make a bit more effort to get what they want. I get what I can from my normal supermarkets. What I can’t get from a supermarket I can usually find in my local corner shops. Potatoes, veg and eggs started to get in short supply, so I got on social media yesterday and added my local farms as a lot of farm shops are now delivering produce, within a couple hours I had a massive box of fruit, veg, potatoes and 30 eggs for £20 delivered to my door. I’m also low on meat and can’t get any in the shops so yesterday I looked up (a lot!) of butchers, most were fully booked for deliveries but I found one that said they were opening a website for a limited number of deliveries at 9am this morning. 8.25am I was sat there with my phone and bank card waiting, I managed to put my order through straight away and getting a meat delivery Wednesday. I also managed to get an Asda delivery slot for next Friday. I checked online for a slot and every one was booked up. I kept checking online every 5 minutes for just over an hour and they finally had a cancellation so I grabbed the slot. I don’t get what all the fuss is with the people complaining in my area. Everyone’s having a little look online or going to their one local supermarket and then ranting and raving that they’re going to starve when they can’t get exactly what they want. I’ve carried on looking until I found everything I want
