Is norovirus still making the rounds?

I think DH has norovirus. Copious puking and a bit of diarrhoea but no other symptoms of anything else and it came on suddenly. I had it twice and it exactly mirrors what I had. He is upstairs and I’ve given him two bottles of water and removed all towels apart from one for him, toothbrushes etc from the bathroom he is using.

I’m gonna get it if it is norovirus let’s be honest it’s super contagious. The reason I think it’s norovirus is someone I know said their kids had it a few weeks back, (saw it on Facebook no contact) so it’s obviously doing the rounds 🙄😫

A hospital near us had a couple of wards closed because of it, earlier this month.

WickedlyPetite · 29/03/2020 16:01

My sister text me to say she started with it this morning - she works in a supermarket so I assumed she'd picked it up there - god knows how though, with all the hand washing.

Geepipe · 29/03/2020 16:03

Oh i thought this! Day before yesterday dp (who developed a cough last week) spent all day violently vommiting with a very high temp. He also was struggling to breath. And physically exhausted and feverish. Then yesterday he had a temp and felt sick but his breathing was a bit better and he wasnt physically sick. Today he is achey but a lot better. Im screwed if its noro as he was laying on me and breathing in my face the last 2 days like a big baby lol.

Ah ffs it looks like it is. I just went and asked if he was on and got told ‘leave me to die’. He’s not a good patient, I’m a bit worried as he has an autoimmune condition. I’ll just keep giving him water and if he’s still as sick after tomorrow call nhs24.

We had it in the last 2 weeks! Me, then a week later husband and baby. Self isolating as baby had a temp but 99% sure it was Noro!

GreyGardens88 · 29/03/2020 16:05

I fell really ill on Thursday, horrific continuous stomach pain and tiredness, low grade fever. Couldn't even sleep because of the pain. Wasn't sick though and no diarrhoea. I had to call in sick for working from home! I'm still sore now when I move, and slight flu like symptoms no idea what it was though.

Likethebattle · 29/03/2020 16:06

@WickedlyPetite eve with hand washing it’s so easy to get. We did go to Asda yesterday to get the shopping so he might have picked it up there. I got it twice from my beautiful niece as a toddler(now she’s 18 I don’t pick up as much from her, she was like the angel of death as a baby). Beautiful and then giving you kisses of death.

Norovirus is always kicking around. It ripped through my home like a demon about 2 months ago. Christ, it was awful.

Geepipe · 29/03/2020 16:13

How long is the incibation period for noro as the only place dp has been is lidl and that was about 4 or 5 days before he was sick and he washed his hands.

Likethebattle · 29/03/2020 16:14

@aquamarine1029 it’s a vile bug. The only good thing is once it’s over you feel better almost straight away.

DH doesn’t do man flu etc so if he is ill it’s usually bad. I have no rehydration stuff to help him once he feels a bit better.

@Geepipe I’m not sure, the last time I had it was years ago. My niece arrived on Friday night, my mum went down on Sunday with it then I was either Monday or Tuesday. My brother always waited a while then said ‘she’s had a sickness bug I think!’ Oh thanks especially as my dad had MS.

Geepipe · 29/03/2020 16:30

Oh god im sorry your brother waited to tell you all. I havent had it in years as well but probably will come down with it now.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 29/03/2020 16:50

I think noro is always lurking about somewhere. I've had gastric bugs before, but in December we all had noro. Sat on the loo, clutching a bucket. Ugh.
It could well be that there's a lot less of it about with everyone hand washing and social distancing.

babasaclover · 29/03/2020 16:58

Gastric can be a sign of corona. Apparently 50% of people in Wuhan went to hospital complaining of stomach problems and didn't even know they had Corona.

I've got the same today diarrhoea, sickness and a temp of 38. I'm really concerned now

Likethebattle · 29/03/2020 16:59

He washes his hands constantly etc but norovirus is one of those bugs you just can’t escape. I’ll need to bleach the place....or burn it down!

OP posts:
Likethebattle · 29/03/2020 17:01

@babasaclover he doesn’t have a temp so hopefully it is not coronavirus. If you are worried call 111. If it is coronavirus then hopefully this if the worst it gets for him.

Boxerbinky · 29/03/2020 17:08

My dh had a bout the week before last. Only him affected - typical vomit and diarrhoea. Only lasted a day if so.

Likethebattle · 29/03/2020 17:23

@Boxerbinky fingers crossed 🤞🏼 then x

@Likethebattle yep🤞 xx

Likethebattle · 30/03/2020 09:34

So I was 12 hours behind DH. I was sick multiple times, my arse joined the fun and I felt unwell enough to cry. It was all night and just wouldn’t stop. I’ve stopped throwing up but my stomach is making weird noises and I still feel a tiny bit nauseous. That was a night I never want to repeat. I have a massive headache too.

OP posts:
Megan2018 · 30/03/2020 11:35

@Likethebattle hope you feel better soon.

I am breastfeeding and bed sharing, managing Norovirus with a baby attached was a particularly grim experience!!

Likethebattle · 30/03/2020 11:38

Oh god @megan2018 that sounds grim. I still feel a bit nauseous today but nothing like how I felt last night. It was ghastly, my stomach looked like I wax belly dancing as it was just moving on it’s own and I vomited so much. This morning I felt faint when I got up but hopefully I’ll feel better by tomorrow.

Deathraystare · 30/03/2020 11:46

I reckon I had a mild form a few weeks back. Normally when I get it I get a pain between my shoulder blades (for some reason) as well as obvs cramping. Sometimes just sickness and/or squits. This time there was no pain at all just two odd days with occasional squits!

Likethebattle · 30/03/2020 16:13

@Deathraystare that would be preferable to
How awful I felt last night and the continuous throwing up. It was never ending plus my arse was running at the same time.
