Is norovirus still making the rounds?

I think DH has norovirus. Copious puking and a bit of diarrhoea but no other symptoms of anything else and it came on suddenly. I had it twice and it exactly mirrors what I had. He is upstairs and I’ve given him two bottles of water and removed all towels apart from one for him, toothbrushes etc from the bathroom he is using.

I’m gonna get it if it is norovirus let’s be honest it’s super contagious. The reason I think it’s norovirus is someone I know said their kids had it a few weeks back, (saw it on Facebook no contact) so it’s obviously doing the rounds 🙄😫

Yes it is and it’s a nasty one too! We’re in the midland. DS had it first for 2 days, then DH for 4. I had it for 7 long days! It was horrendous, last week too so I had all the kids at home. It was brutal. Hope you all feel better soon.

Likethebattle · 31/03/2020 14:10

Oh god @Circletime27 that’s awful, I had 12 hours of vomiting and diarrhoea and that was enough. I hope you feel better, I remember at one point just feeling really ill and wanting to pass out if I had that for 7 days I couldn’t cope.

I had something similar yesterday - headache, then the squits, whilst throwing up in the sink at the same time. Luckily, in the upstairs loo, the toilet and sink are close enough that one can do that with a bit of correct positioning. was really cold as well. Much better today.

Those who are contracting norovirus are not doing a great job of social isolating, just sayin Wink

thegcatsmother · 31/03/2020 23:20

Some of us have to go shopping for our elderly parent darktriad, otherwise she wouldn't eat.

Bunnylady54 · 31/03/2020 23:22

I had it in October & before then hadn’t been sick for nearly 20 years. Luckily I only threw up once but I have never felt so ill in my life! Horrendous stomach cramps, the headache from hell ( although that was partly from dehydration & not eating), going hot & cold, diarrhoea, nausea, couldn’t bear the smell of any food, even went right off wine! I haven’t heard that it’s going round here ( Cornwall). Bloody hope not with everything else going on. So sorry you & your DH were so poorly, OP. Hope you’re fully recovered soon. I was ill for about a week & it took at least another to return to normal. Bonus was the weight loss but I soon put it back on! Couldn’t face wine for quite a while.

darktriad · 31/03/2020 23:26

Fair enough, but someone on the thread said their niece had visited!

Geepipe · 31/03/2020 23:26

Dp left the house once in 2 weeks to shop at lidl when he got it and he had washed his hands so i really dont know how he got it.

darktriad · 31/03/2020 23:34

weird, perhaps it was food poisoning - unlucky to get it from a supermarket. Worrying because coronavirus is more contagious so you could potentially be at risk of contracting that whenever you do your weekly shop

MuseumOfYou · 01/04/2020 00:18

I had a dose of it 3 weeks ago, lasted a week. No sickness but copious diarhoea and quite feverish. I did wonder then if it might be CV related.

Circletime27 · 01/04/2020 07:35

darktriad DS caught it from school before the shut down however I now have a cold. I’ve no idea how I’ve caught it, I’ve only left the house to walk the dog in an empty field once a day! DH is still working (key worker) and doing the food shopping but hasn’t had one!

Likethebattle · 01/04/2020 19:04

@darktriad that was my niece and it was a story from 16 years ago the first time I ever had norovirus. I didn’t know I was social distancing bank then lol. I was just saying the last time I had it was from my niece, 16 years prior to this occasion. I have been out of my house 4 times since social distancing to go to the pharmacy and the supermarket. I’m doing it right. No one has visited,I’ve not gone visiting.

@thegcatsmother yes I was freezing as well and so was DH but I was sweaty too.

Apologies then @Likethebattle , I should RTFT properly!

Likethebattle · 01/04/2020 19:45

@darktriaf I maybe wasn’t clear as I’m still not feeling well. This is the first time I’ve had it since my little niece used to come years who like an angel of death. I forgot how rotten it makes you feel.
