DS 17 has discovered opera - oh yes and of course it has to be played at a 17 year old level - all day.

I'm actually missing the grime stuff he used to listen to, at least every 3rd word of that was blanked out Grin

What new joys has your house discovered?

DS14 has dug his keyboard out. Hours of bastard plinky plonk and the same time being played a la Les Dawson.

ellanwood · 28/03/2020 11:38

I thought the years of loud online group Minecraft chat were long gone. Apparently not any more.

dudsville · 28/03/2020 11:40

Haha! I bet he really feels it to! That's fabulous. Your poor ears.

Falangalangadingdang · 28/03/2020 11:43

Very loud shrieking and excitement on PS4 group chats. We have to keep shutting the living room door, he's on the 3rd floor and it's hours on end.

What's wrong with the tv I ask, nah too boring he replies, it's going to be a looooong few weeks.

Morgan12 · 28/03/2020 11:49

It would appear my DS and his friends go on to the playstation purely to scream at each other.

Choccyp1g · 28/03/2020 12:08

DS is trying to learn piano; if I have to listen to greensleeves mangeled with one hand ever again....

EthelMayFergus · 28/03/2020 12:11

Morgan12 That proper made me laugh - it's exactly the same here.

Still, seems to keep them out of the fridge for a bit.

BlankTimes · 28/03/2020 12:26

Cue a thread "My NDN's teens are screaming for hours every day what can I do"
Grin

TreacherousPissFlap · 28/03/2020 12:31

We are currently experiencing an increased amount of guitar playing. This comes in the guise of electric guitar, electric bass, acoustic guitar and a variety of "pedals".
Typically he could bang out around 3 or 4 hours a day on a weekend, as a teenager with no exams and no job and not allowed to meet friends he's now at at least 5 Confused

inwood · 28/03/2020 12:32

House party chat - Dts are on b ow with about 6 of their tween mates. My god they screech.

itsgettingweird · 28/03/2020 12:46

Suffering the long hours of online gaming here. We live in a flat so all on one floor!

But ds is starting to rein it in a bit. Apparently mum repeating "we use an indoor voice in this house" is highly embarrassing as that's what you'd say to a toddler.

And the reply "and it's usually only toddlers you have to repeat things too frequently" isn't any better.

Luckily ds mates seem to think I'm some kind of cool mum and always feel ds how laid back I am so mostly they just reply that if I'm getting pissed off they must be loud Grin

I actually think it's the deep frequency of teen boys voices rather than the volume that grates!

SistemaAddict · 28/03/2020 12:55

Is his name Endeavour?

dodobookends · 28/03/2020 13:07

DH has been pleasantly surprised by the large number of his guitar pupils who are actually doing some practice for a change... and texting him to tell him Grin

Cocolapew · 28/03/2020 13:13

DD1 has discovered musical theatre.
I hate musical theatre.
I hate DD "singing" along to musical theatre ,at the top of her voice, even more.
She's not even a child, she's bloody 22.

BadgertheBodger · 28/03/2020 13:16

Just turned 3yo DS has discovered a love of Frozen, and is wandering about tunelessly repeating let it goooo let it go mummy let it gooooo but he doesn’t know any other words and I fear this will be the thing which sends me over the edge Gin

HaudMaDug · 28/03/2020 13:16

I'm feeling for my poor Mum (and her neighbours) right now stuck at home with my hyperactive Dad who has decided that now is the perfect time to drag out his bagpipes again.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 28/03/2020 13:38

DD is 10yo and is group WhatsApp chatting what sounds like all of her Y6 friends. We have to shut 2x doors to keep the noise at a reasonable level. I thought I wouldn't have to put up with this until at least Y7!!

Oh and DD has also discovered Just Dance on the PS3 (which has been dusted off this week). Admittedly there are some okay tracks on there but loads of awful ones.

slavetolife · 28/03/2020 13:42

I think my DD is on about 94 hours of Roblox this week, and my DH seems to think he's on some sort of shagging holiday 😱 I'm starting to feel very hemmed in!

jackstini · 28/03/2020 13:49

DS - PS4 Fortnite chatting
DD - on WhatsApp doing school work with classmates for 6 hours a day this week. Then violin & piano practice...

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 28/03/2020 13:52

Join in, sing along, he might give up then?!

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 28/03/2020 13:53

Extra punctuation there

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 28/03/2020 13:54

DD has a concert ukulele AND a melodeon...

RB68 · 28/03/2020 14:07

OMG bagpipes - am dying here

Mine has rediscovered minecraft thankfully without the irritating you tubers

BovaryX · 28/03/2020 14:09

Is his name Endeavour?
GrinGrin

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 28/03/2020 14:20

Bagpipes?🙉

DS very thoughfully brought his speakers home when he came back from uni. He's struggling to understand why DH and I don't appreciate it as much as his housemates do.

He and his friends have downloaded a new app called Houseparty and had a virtual party last night, I don't really mind him having the odd rowdy night if it helps his sanity.
