Very near miss this morning - anyone had similar?!

I’m not sure how I’ve avoided this hazard so far!

Shocking eyesight, so blindly reached for the toothpaste. Fortunately for me, Deep Heat may be in a tube very like a toothpaste tube, and it may be white like toothpaste, but it smells to buggery!

Most exciting thing that’s (nearly) happened to me this week :)

Any other near misses?

Picked up the can of hairspray, rather than deodorant (hadn't put my glasses on)

Confused did wonder for a min if it was worth trying to stick cloth strips over, for a home made wax... but decided against it.

underneaththeash · 26/03/2020 13:35

Someone almost drove into me yesterday in the village when I was out on my bike - it's been so quiet that I suspect she didn't look properly. Has reminded her to look and me to wear a helmet!

Grabbner · 26/03/2020 13:38

Veb that would have been a masterly example of turning a negative into a positive!

underneath I’m glad you were all ok :)

DH sprayed dettol on the sweet potatoes rather than frylight Shock. We're very short of food and had been out of dettol for days until a kindly shopkeeper brought us some so he hadn't expected to see it there. We still ate them after a good wash.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 26/03/2020 15:51

I've done the hairspray thing too Blush

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 26/03/2020 15:55

Didn’t turn in the light in the bathroom one evening. Reached for the toothpaste on the sink, squeezed, and began tooth cleaning. Only to discover dd had left the hair removing cream on the sink...

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 26/03/2020 15:57

Oh, and there was the time the baby shampoo wouldn’t lather. So I poured some more on before noticing I’d grabbed the baby oil. It took me a week to get the oil out of my dc’s hair. And she wouldn’t ever keep a hat on so I couldn’t hide the grease.

june2007 · 26/03/2020 15:59

Don,t store them together.

BuzzingButterfly · 26/03/2020 16:00

Yeah, that’s nowhere near as bad as mixing up deep heat and canisten. Trust me when I say that is not a mistake you want to make!! Blush

genfromgrimsby · 26/03/2020 16:01

Funny you should say that OP, I had deep heat and vagisil on my bedside table the other day. I don't any more.

@genfromgrimsby Another that knows the horror (and pain!) Grin

Codswalloped · 26/03/2020 16:02

I picked up a can of what I thought was dry shampoo, sprayed a load of it in and popped my hair up and headed out without looking. I’m not really a mirror person!

It was deodorant and my hair was white. Doesn’t come out easily either!

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 26/03/2020 16:03

My mosquito repellant was in a toothpaste ike tube. Took me a while to work out why my legs were so Munthe

JoyceDivision · 26/03/2020 16:03

Deep cleaned the house with fly and ant spray rather than polish. DC had to point it out to me. Blush

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 26/03/2020 16:03

Munthe = minty

behindlocknumbernine · 26/03/2020 16:05

I accompanied a school trip last month. Shared room with colleague.
In half dark I put voltarol, not toothpaste, on my toothbrush.
Not once, but twice within the 4 day trip!

Easilyanxious · 26/03/2020 16:05

Teenage son mistook shaving foam for deodorant , cake downstairs saying mum I think theirs something wrong with this

@BuzzingButterfly I expect you really were buzzing!

Frlrlrubert · 26/03/2020 16:06

On honeymoon I went to spay sunscreen on my face (one of those aerosol ones) and got the mosquito repellant instead. Not pleasant.

Easilyanxious · 26/03/2020 16:06

Came downstairs not cake

Lordfrontpaw · 26/03/2020 16:06

This is why labelling needs to e huge and shampoo and conditioner bottles different shapes.

Bottletopsx · 26/03/2020 16:08

Few years ago I picked up what I thought were thinning scissors to thin my fringe. Found out too late they weren't!!

FadedRed · 26/03/2020 16:10

I nearly conditioned my hair with Volterol gel on a camping holiday when both tubes were on the songs bag. My DH nearly cleaned his teeth with haemorrhoid ointment....

1forAll74 · 26/03/2020 16:10

I once sprayed my hair with some furniture polish instead of hair lacquer, I had been polishing a unit in my bedroom, the polish came out of the tin all a bit frothy.. My hair was quite shiny after though.
