Crafty activities - what are you making?

I have got lots of half-done knitting, a cross-stitch I really don't want to continue (all the counting makes me...cross) and at least two different quilting projects - all long neglected and if work/home-ed would just calm down for five minutes I'd like to pick some of them back up.

What are you planning on making? New or something that's been waiting a while for your attention?

Well the cardigan is coming along nicely
Although the 'divide for arms' is in a completely different place in the pattern to on the picture Confused I've never made clothes before so could have done totally wrong Grin

I've got an octopus on my todo list for my mums birthday in May last year

I've just ordered yarn for 3 more cardigans (for my nieces) and a cross stitch kit. If that doesn't keep me busy I've also got photography stuff, scrapbooking and enough beads and wire to open a jewellery store Grin

CrochetBug · 28/03/2020 12:37

Ooops. Forgot the photo

Beautiful!

Considering an odds and ends cardigan for DD - use up all equivalent weight wool and just keep working through stash GrinWill have to do something as she's apparently grown an inch since lockdown!

I'll have to make an odds and end something at some point. I have so much yarn its unreal! Im going to make all my nieces cardigans a size bigger than they are and hope they don't grow too much Grin

I've always got a pair of socks on the go but have added in a little cable knitted hooded jumper for my friend's toddler.

I've also finally got round to repairing some jeans for my son and am trying out Sashiko stitching for the first time. It's not looking too bad at the moment.

Drawing is my craft! Once I’m better my next task is to do four little thank you cards, for the leaders of a couple of courses I was doing. The final meetings have been postponed which means I have much longer to choose! One is going to be horse related, one a Phoenix, one board gamey, the last I haven’t decided - have had butterfly or dove suggested as that course is to do with overcoming stuff, finding peace etc (the Phoenix is for the other leader of that course)

Also was asked for suggestions for tattoos on a particular theme so I want to dig out the sketches I’d done so far and refine them a bit

I'm crocheting a cowl neck jumper for myself, starting an odds and ends granny square blanket for my mum for Christmas, making some little stockings for Christmas too.

I'm also painting some lovely wooden resources for the children when they return (childminder)

Trying to learn piano too!

Forgot I'm also about to start a stickman crochet set too for a story sack.

CakeAndGin · 28/03/2020 18:23

Update: We’ve finished the Lego. So that lasted the whole of lockdown Hmm

Not started the painting but I have organised my paints.

AutumnRose1 · 28/03/2020 19:19

LaneBoy speaking as one with no natural talent, I’m interested to see how I get on with 2 hours a day....my school gave no tips at all though, the book I’ve got is basic, but keeps putting “extra challenges” at the end of things, presumably for those with natural skill! I’m skipping those and will try them when I’ve covered the basics.

ICouldHaveBeenAContender · 29/03/2020 17:10

I have organised my paints

Organising craft stash is one activity that can fill all the time available, I find, and is almost as pleasurable as actually using it.

Reminds me of a book I read, called "Craftfulness" - the proposition being that the act of crafting is valuable in itself, totally separate from the value of the finished article itself.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 29/03/2020 17:14

I'm knitting Easter bunnies for the kids and then I'm going to finish the dinosaur playmat for ds that I started last October.

That is gorgeous CrochetBug.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 29/03/2020 17:17

I have an embarrassingly big yarn and craft stuffs stash, plus at a rough count 9 or 10 WIPs.....two of which (socks and a shawl) I am forcing myself to complete before I start anything new, let alone finish a WIP😳😀
As I’m going to be in lockdown for the next 12 weeks, and having already been so for a further 10 days, I will have plenty of time. The garden is sorted so can’t use that as an excuse any more!
Here’s to hoping that some get finished in that time!

drspouse · 29/03/2020 17:24

QuentinWinters · 29/03/2020 17:33

I can't get hold of any seaside material that I can afford so I'm making some bunting out of mini hats and jumpers instead!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 29/03/2020 18:40

I meant shawl sorry @CrochetBug

CrochetBug · 29/03/2020 18:50

Thanks @Dinosauratemydaffodils and @TwoZeroTwoZero

I'll have something nice to wear when we're allowed out again Smile

BackseatKnitter · 29/03/2020 18:55

I’ve got loads of WIPs at the mo including knitting a Lovenote sweater and quite a few bits of kids clothing but really enjoying making Luna Lapin bits. Just making a little felt coat for one of the little dolls and will move on to a dress next

Tacos as well
Keeps them entertained for a bit❤️

MutteringDarkly · 01/04/2020 23:13

Started on a cardigan for DD to use up some of the odd balls of yarn cluttering about the place Smile Using a Debbie Bliss pattern for a striped cardigan (from "special family knits") but will see what I have left after doing the main body sections - it might end up being short sleeved...
