Will using cocoa power, best before 1016 do me any harm?

I worried that my cocoa powder was out of date but thought it would be fine, turns out it's very out of date! Does this matter?

I've used really old custard powder before, like ten year out of date. Nobody died

2016 it'll be fine, really a lot of things are fine past there best before date. I'd love it if it was 1016 I'm not sure we had coco then.

cocoa powder was only invented in 1828 so I reckon it's fake.

I once cooked for my nan at her house, only after we had eaten the food and I was cleaning up did I notice that the mixed herbs went out in 1986! I thought the packaging was a bit vintage. The food was a bit bland but no one died so...
