Even £1000 would not stop these idiots.

You get fined more than that for dropping litter.

How about a dunce cap tattooed onto the back of the hand for first and second offences. Then third time (because there will be) idiot tattooed across the forehead.

I would support the lockdown if they also stopped flights to the U.K. can’t see the sense of us all staying at home if we continue to import carriers of the virus

Where are all these police coming from to enforce this, I wonder? Are they not so understaffed, and cut to the bone, that they can barely tackle real crime? Or do the criminals have a conscience and are self-isolating, and the burglars are not bothering because they know most people are at home? Or did a certain Ms Abbott do the maths?

Vile wankers who have no respect for anyone or anything waste of time. My friend works in a school some people don't pick kids up till they feel like said to quote . "you can't leave them there in your care put them in after school club try and charge me on benefits they will take £1 a week max." sadly this is the type of people we are dealing with.

The first fine is £30 for now. It's to be kept under review. Because If that's not a deterrent, they'll raise that (and raise the 2nd, 3rd fines as well)

Are they trying to minimise the birthrate? How strange, men often pay more than £30 in any event so a £30 fine won't put them off. Am I missing something?

If I lived close to these people and my loved ones suffered, I see no reason why I could not take up some sort of civil case against them.

The reasons to isolate and stay safe have been clearly and obviously identified. Ignoring them to endanger another's life might be a tack to go down after it all dies down. That would be my thoughts.

It's €600 for being out without a valid reason in Spain. €1000 for 2 people in a car without a proper reason. People are supposed to only be travelling for essentials, not fun.

I think they should be put to work cleaning police stations, collecting bins, helpful but smelly jobs and they should have to wear a neon orange tshirt with

I live in street with small front gardens.My NDN are standing close together in their garden accompanied by various friends and relatives all smoking their heads off.

I must add when I mentioned the risk to them the reply was''The smoke will kill the virus'' What can you do but hope.

If it was too high the idiots who will be out and about anyway would a) never pay it, but £30 they can't wriggle out of as it's reasonable; b) conspiracy theorists would get on social media about how it's just a ploy to make money and cause more people to not bother staying home because f da system etc etc

If they're going to carry out such "draconian" enforcement, supposedly in the interest of saving lives, how about doing the same in other ways?

Pavement cyclists have killed people, and walked away from court with a small fine. How about putting them in prison?

Drink drivers have killed people, and escaped jail.

Footballers caught speeding have been fined a mere £120, loose change to them.

Military service... nooo, no one can do much with the worthless wastes of space whose parents couldn't be bothered to bring them up. 24 hours in the stocks, with live camera feed to social media, but no rotten tomatoes, so everyone can see their local dickheads' faces in close detail. Shame is much much more powerful than punishment. Why have we forgotten this? Young men, who are -let us not forget- the perpetrators of about 80% of crime, are far more deterred by being named and shamed in neon lights than by a fine or community service orders. There will be a few who want to wear the badge regardless. Mostly with intelligence well below average.

would it not be simpler if those caught not following the rules are birched or caned?

option A) I have no job thanks to lockdown. Can't pay for anything, come at me. Im in or at a mates
option B) I'm at home or in a friends restaurant, you ignore me. Ill get a taxi home
Option C) I'm only out cause there's no one else to get what I need
option D) I do what I want, Fuck the consequences, Ill pay
