Any suggestions for board games that two people staying indoors can play?

Thanks!

Hive, Tatsu and Duke are our current favs. There's also Khet and the Scandinavian edition of Ticket to Ride.

If you don't mind the theme then pandemic is far and away the best board game I've ever played.

Alternatively forbidden island.

Both are cooperative games so no arguments Smile

Scrabble is making a comeback during our confinement.
Backgammon and chess are also good.

It's a marble game but nine men's morriss is real good fun.

Bananagrams

ThanosSavedMe · 22/03/2020 17:47

Not a board game but Mancala is really good

LizzyButton · 22/03/2020 17:55

I enjoy Upwords. On a deeper word game level my mum plays a mean Scrabble and out-words me. If you are a bit geopolitical like me have a Twilight Struggle. There's a silly chicken game I play with my daughter that is from France and called Piou Piou.

TroysMammy · 22/03/2020 18:28

Thanks to someone on MN I found a fab quiz site jetpunk.com. You could both do the same quiz on your tablets then compare scores.

@TooDamnSarky I’ve just looked at buying Pandemic thanks to your recommendation and there seems to be quite a few different versions/titles.

Would you mind telling me which one you’d recommend please?

JasperRising · 22/03/2020 18:57

@bellinique I would suggest going with the original (just called Pandemic, blueish box with four people on the box, a female doctor standing at the front in the image).

Code Names is good for two people who know each other well.

TooDamnSarky · 22/03/2020 19:30

@bellinique
Avoid pandemic legacy until you have played the basic version a lot. The legacy version is much harder and a story version where you gradually destroy the board. It's totally amazing but not for novice players.

I've not tried the expansion,
I'd just go for the basic version. Enjoy!

Iwantacookie · 22/03/2020 19:35

Quandary. I playing it when I was a child but havent seen it around for years.

AreWeNearlyHairnet · 22/03/2020 19:43

Carcassonne is a favourite of me and my DH. Simple rules, but a lot of strategy when you get into it. And the version we have came with an expansion pack that adds a couple more elements for when you've mastered the basics.

RedRed9 · 22/03/2020 19:46

Also agree that forbidden island is great.

RedRed9 · 22/03/2020 19:47

Oh yes @AreWeNearlyHairnet and Carcassonne!

SeaOtterFluff · 22/03/2020 19:49

Jaipur is one of our favourites. Also like Fungi, 7 Wonders, Azul and Legendary Forests. DH is a board game geek, I'm less enthusiastic!

bellinique · 22/03/2020 20:02

Thank you very much @TooDamnSarky and @JasperRising!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/03/2020 20:04

Our favourite is Pandemic. Seems a bit to topical to play atm though.

Ladyglitterfairydust · 22/03/2020 20:06

We like ticket to ride (we have the Europe one) and mapominoes (we have Europe, Africa and Asia!). Mapominoes is strictly a board game, but we really like it. You can either play with just 1 set or multiple sets.

artisanparsnips · 22/03/2020 20:06

Another vote for Carcassonne here.

JasperRising · 22/03/2020 20:13

Another vote for Carcassonne (and it has lots of expansions if you really want). Mapominoes is also a nice quick bit of fun.
