Not trying to show off but my DS loves drawing cartoons and I wondered if he’d good for his age?

I know these types of posts irritate people but it’s just a bit of a distraction from all the shit.

DS has been doodling today, i think he’s really good but then I would cause I’m his mum 😄

I’m guessing drawing ability is age-related so how old do you think he is?

I'm planning to get some sort of schedule in place for my dd, some art time is a good idea.

BlackstonesManual · 21/03/2020 18:58

That's excellent!
I'm an artist myself and I would have never guessed it was done by a 9 yr old... your son has very confident line skills.
Well done to him!! Smile

JonnyPocketRocket · 21/03/2020 18:59

Can't believe he's 9!! That's a great drawing. It wouldn't be out if place in a published kids book or cartoon strip. I'm sure there are competitions he could send off to to get it published somewhere - I did that with some poems when I was a couple years older than that, and it was a huge confidence boost.

Howmanysleepsnow · 21/03/2020 19:00

At least 60 (I’m 42 and it’s waaaayyy above my standard!)

YeahRiiiiight · 21/03/2020 19:01

He’s a talented little boy. Be proud!

Unescorted · 21/03/2020 19:04

Be proud - and encourage him. There is loads of tutorials on you tube / on line that teach technique.

Iwantedthat · 21/03/2020 19:05

They're really good, and I agree about sending off to a magazine or similar. It actually looks like one of those colouring in pages, really cool and quirky. I want to doodle now 😁

pippylongsocks · 21/03/2020 19:06

Really good, he's got some talent!

RoseLalique · 21/03/2020 19:08

Really good! My brother was amazing at things like that, especially 3D modelling cartoon monsters out of clay. He’s now a structural engineer / architect 😊

TildaTurnip · 21/03/2020 19:08

9?! Wow! It’s lovely when they have their own style and his lines are so controlled. I’d have said 14.

Mutedgrey · 21/03/2020 19:10

That’s great for any age! There are some really good online drawing courses that are free, I believe.

ALongHardWinter · 21/03/2020 19:12

9? Wow! Miles better than I could do.

Todayissunny · 21/03/2020 19:13

I think he's incredibly talented. Can he draw a strip with a story?

lowlandLucky · 21/03/2020 19:14

He is very good

BettyCrockaShit · 21/03/2020 19:16

Blimey! They're very good. As pp suggested, could he use some of his spare time now to work then into a cartoon strip?

0blio · 21/03/2020 19:17

Lovely! I thought you were going to say he's late teens. He is very talented and I'd buy that drawing to colour in.

There are drawalongs on youtube that look fun.

HarrietM87 · 21/03/2020 19:18

That’s great for any age! Well done him

Binterested · 21/03/2020 19:18

How lovely! I think they are great for any age - it’s a very distinctive style. Keep him at it Smile

TenPenceMix · 21/03/2020 19:22

I was going to say 12!

SandyFire · 21/03/2020 19:22

Yeah he’s really good.

TrickyKid · 21/03/2020 19:33

Love it! Very creative.

misskick · 21/03/2020 19:35

I have nine year old twins who are keeping themselves entertained drawing allot today. His drawing is amazing for his age.

Miljea · 21/03/2020 19:39

Nice!

IfIWereYou · 21/03/2020 19:40

I love this! I see something different every time I look at it. Amazing details. I like the one with the eye patch best Grin well done OP,S ds!

StinkyWizzleteets · 21/03/2020 19:40

That’s actually quite complex for a 9 year old. I mean any 9 year old could copy something like that reasonably well but if your son came up with the concept and composition too then yes that is a wee bit advanced (say like a 12/13 yo)
