Yes, the “loveable” little scamp, the infamous BF, is back!!!

OP posts:

Well, you see @IHateUserName I quite like the scepticism and cynicism. I suffer from anxiety and can't help but take BF at face value. I hover in one way hoping for an update, and in another way, am horrified when there is an update! I can't help but take it seriously...So when people come on sharing doubts, it helps settle me.

IHateUserName · 25/03/2020 10:41

@73kittycat73 I don't mind the skepticism. It's the ones who feel the need to be snarky & make digs at the op & other posters that bother me. Some people just seem to camp on Mumsnet for the opportunity to make nasty comments or parade what they think is their intellectual superiority. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings.

I don't know if I believe in BF or not, I definitely think there is a lot more out there than we humans know or understand. I hope BF isn't an accurate prediction of doom though!

73kittycat73 · 25/03/2020 13:04

Hi @IHateUserName, It's OK, you didn't hurt my feelings. Smile I'm thankful that you came back with a nice reply! Thank you for understanding. Flowers

TheReluctantCountess · 25/03/2020 13:10

Can you give someone else your MN log in details, so we get an update in the event of BF’s prediction about your downfall coming true?

IndieTara · 25/03/2020 13:12

Ooh BF is back!

Heartburn888 · 26/03/2020 22:09

Any updates on the current virus situation from BF, op?

Still waiting for @PlomBear BFP! Grin

TheReluctantCountess · 27/03/2020 13:01

I hope BF’s latest prediction hasn’t come true 😯

Elieza · 27/03/2020 16:46

Yeah, what’s the birdie saying this week? Anything positive? Grin

APurpleSquirrel · 27/03/2020 17:04

(Gets popcorn 🍿)

HerRoyalCarbyLess · 27/03/2020 17:35

@PlomBear you cant start this thread and then vanish. Get back here and give us our BF fix.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 27/03/2020 17:40

Birdie Friend just needs killing with fire.

Shock it's real!

EmpressMcSchnozzle · 28/03/2020 07:04

Oooh, I'll play.

Okay, at a guess, Birdie Friend would be predicting:

  • an upsurge in people learning how to grow their own (veg, fruit, medicinal herbs) - on the plus side, it's the right time of year to plant a LOT of things
  • an upsurge in people learning how to preserve their own (must dig out that old National Trust book we've got somewhere in the shed)
  • a lot of really bad escapist novels in the next few months, many featuring plucky wartime heroines and dashing first responder heroes (or, indeed, vice versa)
  • a lot of REALLY bad haircuts

(Yes, this is meant to be light-hearted)

Loopylou6 · 28/03/2020 12:19

Ok, I give in
Im place marking.

Katinski · 28/03/2020 12:34

Another who's eagerly waiting for Words of Wisdom from Birdie. Choice between BoJo and Birdie? No contest!

CoronaVera · 28/03/2020 14:02

I am a person with an interest in spirits and shamanism and loads of my friends talk to spirits or Spirit all the time and don’t bat an eyelid at it. It just is as it is.

Tbh, I’ve loved BF from the beginning. Whether it’s the OP having a laugh or not it almost doesn’t matter. It’s the way it makes everyone question what they believe in that’s quite interesting to watch and experience.

Adviceneededplease9 · 28/03/2020 14:05

Place marking for birdie friends latest predictions and insight! 😳

IHateUserName · 28/03/2020 14:19

@CoronaVera

Same. I just hope op comes back & hasn't already suffered a fate worse than death at the beak of BF!

Chesntoots · 28/03/2020 15:01

Yay!!! BF!!!

Although after his last prediction I am also a little scared of what he has to say next...

TwoKnocks · 28/03/2020 15:05

Some people just seem to camp on Mumsnet for the opportunity to make nasty comments or parade what they think is their intellectual superiority.

You know, you really don't have to think you're 'intellectually superior' to maybe not swallow the tale of a toddler channelling the spirit of a sinister youth hostel badge that predicts the end of the world, as told to you by a complete stranger on an anonymous internet forum. Any more than you swallowed the terrifying tale of Tristan, Molly and the Haunted Camping Pods...

iklboo · 28/03/2020 15:21

Or people could be, you know, enjoying the thread for what it is to take their minds off the shit show we're currently experiencing. Joining in the fun. You don't have to read or post.

TwoKnocks · 28/03/2020 15:26

I'm all for joining in the fun, but there have been several posts on the thread which are clearly from people I would charitably call 'vulnerable', or, less charitably, call 'credulous' and whose anxieties and gullibility have been exacerbated by lockdown who clearly believe Birdie Friend predicted Covid-19 and actually believe in his every pronouncement.
